Dumb question, are there any fuses that blew or circuit breakers that may have tripped? In engineering it's called a "smoke test". Did anything smoke or smell?

It's sad to hear of crap like this. Sure hope you recover it. Kubota may keep a list of stolen equipment, you might notify them too. If it shows up at a dealer for repair the serial number might pop up as stolen.

Since you're having it logged you might ask how much extra for them to use a big cat to pile up all the slash. If they want a couple extra $k to do it that seems cheap compared to equipment rental or wear and tear, fuel and days worth of work that might be better spent on other jobs.

I know almost nothing about haying, but from listening to guys that do I'd guess that 45-50hp would be about the minimum. Someone probably makes small haying equipment suitable for smaller machines but with the size of your property it would probably take forever to get the job done.

You could probably measure the resistance from the center electrode to the top where the plug wire connects. If the new and old measure significantly different the plug would have an open, but that has to be a very unusual problem. I've heard that if the ceramic insulator around the center electrode has hairline cracks it will allow current to bleed away from the center electrode weakening the spark.

For condensation control you need to keep the temperature inside the garage above the dew point. If you're a tinkerer a cool way to do that would be to rig up a dew point sensor to a dehumidifier. When the temperature/humidity/pressure falls below dew point moisture will condense. If you could find a dew point sensor with closed contact outputs it shouldn't be too hard to rig it up to turn on a dehumidifer when conditions are such that condensation will form.<br>

For maximum energy savings you could use two dew point sensors, one inside and one outside. If the outside air had a higher dew point than inside you could bring outside air in. If both inside and outside are below dew point then close the vents and turn on a dehumidifier.<br>

This winter I'm planning an experiment in our garage. We have a spare ERV unit that might make a good garage ventilator while keeping the garage temperature relatively warm. Our garage is not insulated and we always have condensation on the windows during winter, but the garage is attached to the house and is warmer than outside (nothing ever freezes in the garage).

I don't have a gator but on other vehicles (even my Toyota) the brakes can stick overnight and let loose with a jolt when starting out in the morning. They rust up a bit and bind to the drum/disc where the old asbestos shoes/pads didn't have that problem.

Greetings, and welcome! I'd like to say that I'm a hydraulic expert but that would be a lie. However, I hooked my hydraulic dump trailer to a single port of the power beyond connections and it works fine.

You mean it used to be mounted on a 950? I'm not savvy enough to know if that was custom or if it just bolts up (skeptical that it would) but if it came off a 950 it should probably work. Does your 950 already have the valves and joystick?<br>

Code here specifies the septic size based on how many bedrooms are in the house. We had to put a 1500 gal. tank in for a five bedroom home. To extend the life of the septic system I'd recommend putting in a SepticProtector washer lint filter. It's amazing how fast it fills up with lint that would otherwise get washed out to the drain field and eventually plug it up.

We just filled up with a couple hundred gallons at $2.49. We may replace the water heater and dryer with electric models soon. Electric rates here have gone up about 40% in the last eight years while LP is up 300%.

The lower arms on these machines are never straight from the factory, they always have a bend profile of some sort. It's probably not safe to assume a change to the original bend profile resulted in a weaker part. I would have thought a cheaper fix would be to space the wheels out a bit.

I never bothered with an arch because any log longer than 35 feet or so could never be maneuvered through the twisting trails we use. The trails could be straightened but we kind of like the twists and turns because it adds character to the trail as a walking trail.

By all accounts the 955 is a pretty solid machine. I hope it wasn't stored outside in the burial ground for a lengthy period of time! My guess is it is too small to do any serious baling.

To repair it economically you'll want to maximize testing and minimize part replacement. The first thing you want to do is make 100% sure your battery connections and engine ground are perfect. If they are, then take the batteries down to be load tested. Battery shops will do this for free. The voltage measured at the battery is only a small part of how good they are. It's very common for batteries to test at 12.6 volts and not be able to deliver the necessary amperage under load (which is why they have load testers). If the batteries test OK then you can either test the starter amp draw yourself or remove the starter and take it somewhere to test. No sense in attempting a rebuild if it tests OK.
