Charlie, you can see by replies you're looking at a 30hp category. I have a 30hp B7800 on a property smaller than yours and I wouldn't want to go less than that.

Update: increasing my annual premium for home owner's insurance by only $44 gives me coverage against theft with the insurance company paying me full replacement value without depreciation in case of a theft (or other peril). So in effect if someone steals my Kubota 10 years from now, for $440 worth of insurance I get a brand new $20K tractor. Not a bad deal :)

If you're OK with a somewhat smaller tractor and a lower ground clearance, then you'd go for a 6284 over B7800. Price-wise though, Cub cadet compensates for these IMHO shortcomings, so it's really all about your applications.

I've had a bad experience with Paypal as well. I sent a couple of payments to some organization using Paypal and never got a confirmation from the organization that the payments were received. When I send the payments by check I always get the confirmations. I was suspicious if Paypal didn't just keep my money. I should have double checked with the organization that I sent the money to, but got distracted with other things and the amount was rather trivial so I let it go, but now I try to send the checks instead of using Paypal. Maybe there's nothing to it, but I thought I'd let people know since we're all ganging up on Paypal here.

Yooper, thanks for the clarification.

So it boils down to either loosing time because of having to make extra passes (with a narrower deck) or loosing time because of having to go slower in thick grass (with a wider deck). If that's the choice, I'd go with a larger deck.

you're talking about getting a 12K tractor for just mowing 3 acres of property. Isn't that an overkill? A good solid garden tractor will do that job just fine for around 6K (Toro and Kubota sell excellent garden tractors). Now if you do get a 12K tractor, then it just makes sense to get the loader for all the reasons yooper listed. I faced the same decision and decided to buy the loader. Also, retail for a unit with a loader will be far greater than without.

IMHO the way the legal system is today and the instant ability of a mfg's legal team to find detrimental info on the Net, should you have a catastrophic warranty event in the future (e.g. engine blows, pump fails) you could be hard-pressed to either get a. warranty coverage or b. win in court if you sued them. And your local dealer could be reading this info and if they wanted to be nasty could use this against you to---just 'cuz they could

I used to live in a pretty rough area in north jersey many years ago. The only white people on the street were me and my dog. The area was mostly hispanic and some black folk lived in some spots. And next town over, there was a large muslim population. That's where I got my interracial education. And I'll tell you one thing: with blacks you know where you stand. Older folks would be very friendly and curtious; young thugs - you don't want to look them in the eye. But they wore their sympathies and antipathies on their sleeve. And that's how it should be. With muslims, they'd walk past you like you're a worm, very hauty, very full of themselves. They are a disfunctional bunch, more so than the rest of us, that islamic cult has done some serious damage to their collective psyche and I wish they'd all buy a one way ticket back to their homeland.

4 wheel drive and turf tires on B7800 were just fine for loader work in VERY wet spots on my property. I've noticed that turf tires will save you from getting into too much trouble as far as ripping up your property or digging in and getting stuck in wet areas.

Are you planning on pulling those trees out of the creek? I'm not positive tractors that you mentioned would be heavy enough for that kind of a job.

my father always says: keep the fuel at the 1/4 full level. Keeps the crap from the bottom of the fuel tank from cloggin up the fuel lines, too. Do I listen to him? Why, I usually start thinking about filling up when the needle dips just below the "E".

Now, the entire 9th Ward that we keep hearing about was build below sea level. Was there any thinking going on? And who's thinking was it to abandon 300 (THREE HUNDRED) buses to be flooded instead of using them for evacuation? The problem I have is that people who do the least to help themselves, scream the most demanding that others help them. That's OK, we'll help, but they shouldn't expect any kind of respect when they behave like that, either.

Actually, Kubota do respond to e-mails you send through their web site even thoug it takes a few days for them to get back to you. If noone can answer your question here, give Kubota a holler.
