I'm not sure what is meant by 'touch control' but most 3ph operating levers have an adjustable friction clutch. I don't think most 3ph position control spools feather very well.

I agree with the dealer in that the way position control 3ph's work may not be ideal for grading, and it's just something to get used to. Getting familiar with the idea of 3ph float (if you're not already) should help make the work easier. If the problem is that the blade is off the ground and it can't be lowered slowly then reducing the flow control valve should help. ....

I'm not sure I know what a "touch control" is either but if you are referring to the lever on the fender used to control the 3PH and it is stiff to move, you MAY have some kind of problem but I suspect it is normal as well. Check for bent or binding lever/linkage or a gaulded pivot point.

Typically the fender mounted 3PH lever control is used to raise or lower whatever is attached to the 3PH. There is not much "control" done here. It's usually either up or down or somewhere in between. There is a control knob under the seat that will adjust the drop speed of an attachment but that's about it.

I have tried several times to "follow the terrain" using the fender mounted 3PH lever while using my brush hog, at a higher than wheel contact setting, with poor results. I don't believe that is what this lever is intended for.

Perhaps a hydraulic top link would give you better control over what you are trying to accomplish.

Tim ....

Jerry,
I understand what you're saying. The 3 pt hitch lever is much stiffer on the TC40 I own, than other tractors I've used in the past. When I purchased my TC40, that was the first thing I noticed was the stiffness of the lever. My brother's TC40 lever is even stiffer. I used WD40 and other lubes and kept working the lever, it did ease up some. I also purchased a TC55, and you can move the 3 pt hitch control lever with 2 fingers with little effort. Try working the lever and spraying with silicon spray or WD40 at the base. ....

I had the same problem with my TC33D.After 210 hours struggling with a very hard to move 3pt lever I could not take it any more.To fix the problem I removed the nut on the shaft that goes into the block and greased the two washers behind the nut. Reassemble washers and hand tighten nut. Reattach linkage and check lever.Adjust the tension on the nut until lever moves freely. If nut is too loose the lever will fall down on its own.Must put cotter pin back thru nut when tensioned correctly. Don`t even attempt this without first removing tire. ....
