We are tractor-newbies, in the final stages of buying a CUT - and are looking at either Kubota 7500 (or possibly 7800), or, New Holland TC24D. We have 26 acres of hills & woods; will do some (but not all) finish mowing, some ag work & earth work.
Other than price (which are pretty close) what else can you tell us to determine the best choice? Durability? Reliability? Ease of use? Ease of getting parts/service? Is there some kind of independent "Consumer Reports" type of assessment of tractors?
Help! We're about to write a big check and it's lonely out here... ! Thanks!

I can't tell you whether blue vs orange is the way to go. I can say, that with that many acres and lot's of potential and probable projects to complete, I wouldn't look at anything under 40 hp.. I have a fairly new Mahindra 41 hp for 20 acres and am wondering why I didn't go a little bit biggger. As far as colors, today they all are good with minor adjustments that suit or don't suit your personality.. ....

Bill, when I bought my tractor price was not a factor, but rather value. I wanted what had the most bang for the buck. I looked at Deer, kubota and New Holland. The reason I went with the NH TC33D was that I could see no reason or feature that justified the higher price of the Deere or Kubota. In fact I liked the idea that the New Holland did not need a sub-frame. It is made like my Ford jubilee and JD 2010 one big piece of iron. I also found the ergonomics of the NH to be much better. I suggest that you actually try all three brands and see which you like best. As far as size I like the 33 because it is big enough for larger tasks but also small enough for detail work without tearing up the lawn also good for getting into tight spots. My brother just bought a JD 4310 he paid over $4000.00 more for similar size tractor then complained about cost of implements. Remmember a tractor is only as useful as the implements you have to put on it. Good luck! ....

If I had that much land, and especially if I were going to be putting up hay, plowing/tilling a significant garden spot or food plot, or doing quite a bit of earthwork, I'd look at an ag tractor, such as the NH TN series, or their 3010S. Then get a quality dedicated lawn mower for finish mowing. The ag tractors compare favorably in price to the compacts. I use my TC29 for a little of everything, but mostly finish mowing. Many times, I wish I had something bigger, heavier and more powerful when field mowing, using the backhoe, or clearing wooded land.
If you have your heart set on a compact, I'd get at least the TC33; and if finish mowing open spaces, perhaps the TC40.

I have a TC24D and it is not big enough for what you want to do. I was at the Kubota dealer last night (he's a friend but I bought NH anyway) and the 7500 & 7800 are also too small for you. I'd seriously look at 35 to 40hp, if you have lots of mowing get the SuperSteer option. ....

HI Im NOT a fan of the 3010s (made i,think in India) it is a striped down tractor,,you can buy a tn 65 ,,a GREAT tractor,for a couple dollars more,,and a better tractor! for what your talking about,,you need ,im thinking about a TC45,,which is 45 HP,,check with Ted ,,he is in Newton NC,,he was GREAT to deal with for me,,and saved me a TON of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$,,good luck,,if you write me ill tell you where he is at in NC ....

Bountyhunter: Why don't you just call Ted at Corriher instead of messing with email? I wonder if you have the right email, etc? You will get a better feel for the dealer if you actually talk to him. ....
