I bought a NorTrac 35HP, 35XT (160)in early 2015 with backhoe and a 1 yr extended warranty. I have 33 hours. Off the truck or within 33 hours, condition: no (10%) acceleration; idle 11,000 RPM; very difficult to shift with clutch floored; stalls frequently (Going up slight grade it crawls in first gear and practically stalls. Depress accelerator to the floor with no change in crawl.100 feet); joystick stopped working to dump, was mailed new one - easy fix - tighten nut; large hydraulic hose under backhoe seat drooping to 3 inches above tractor building floor; brakes were adjusted; right swing arm cylinder extremely, extremely rusted, sent new one; backhoe ball joints badly rusted; pitted and small rust spots on half of the cylinder pistons, mailed 9 photos of all rust to NorTrac and was told small rust spots were sand and to use for a while to see if they go away. Good idea. After 33 hours, some are just pitted now. (why keep it so long?); exterior of joystick housing completely rusted; can't get a full loader of dirt, not digging into Earth; loader raises slowly empty - control throttle setting?
I can't imagine what I will find next if I am ever able to use it at its peak potential.
Clearly, this tractor was not inspected by a quality control team.
What would you do? Try to get new one from NorTrac? - Good Luck.

Before buying, I researched the tractor and read great reviews. This must be a lemon, without inspection.

Thanks.

Reviews on the web can be dubious, written by paid writers to stimulate sales.

If you use this site thoroughly you will find that brands like Kubota and John Deere just to name two of the better brands, have very long periods with little to no problems. Like 10 years no problems, 1000 hours nada.

Whereas Nortrac you pay less upfront, but need to get your tool kit out right out of the get go. Still OK if you like to tinker, many buyers like that. Masochistic to me !

Right off the Bat the Low Price for MY 35 HP Nortrac was a big selling point. I did spring for the Extended warranty it parts only. The I had to get over the fact that this is a Parts Only Warranty. That it in a nut shell the first few week where they will send someone to work on it, Just is not true it isw not going to happen. That being said you better be willing to handle parts replacement on your own. If you can and for me its not a big deal. Just a annoyance. Clutch adjustments are a pain but I have had to do them on both mt Ford 800 an my Yanmar.

Most of the parts issues were pins falling off of linkages. PTO and 4WD selector. They will send the pins fast but some retainers(IE Self Made pins hold better.

For now I have had it 16 months it Has done what I asked it to do. Shuttle Shift? Power Steering on my 35XT and a Loader.

Worth it even being my own mechanic for right Now I say yes.
