I am rebuilding a 1971 Ford 3000 Gas, rebuilt Holly Carb, new fuel pump, plugs, etc but still very hard to start, almost 5 minutes of grinding. Once started, runs great. Seems to be flooded right away. I am thinking its in the distributor Any help would be appreciated.

Have you checked the float. Set for correct level? Maybe heavy allowing flooding. How about your choke? ....

Thanks Harvey for the information, I have not rechecked the float, but got into the distributor last night, found a few pieces of metal floating around-looks like part of the rotor so will be doing points and rotor and cap next. Cant figure how it ran with those pieces floating but it did. What is the correct level and where do you check it? Choke works fine. ....

Maybe you solved it. You will have to get a manual or google it for carb specs. Float inside carb ....
