does snybody knows what voltage should be at battery when motor is running it looks battery its not charging,just replaced voltage regulator and its at 12.65,12.85volts tops is it ok because cant find a alternator

That is a normal reading for a good battery. When you rev the motor it should go past 14. If it doesn't change when you rev it, you have a charging system problem. Charging comes from the stator. It has 2 black wires going into the main 6 prong engine harness. They are on the same side of the plug and on either end. First check the plug pins and make sure they are clean and tight. If they are,start the motor and check both wires for current at idle. They should BOTH light the test light. If one or both show no reading, the stator is bad. ....

thanks a lot for the info,i pulled the flywheel out and 3 of the magnets behind the flywheel are in pieces so that must be it,i called john deere and they wont sell you the magnets only i will need to buy the whole new flywheel. ....
