I have recently bought a 4x2 gator and i was wondering if anyone could tell me if the drive belt is supposed to turn at a almost stall idle ? i have some grinding sound and yes i have read all the post on here just wanting to know also the belt guard is missing, and it looks like a brace as well for the rear transaxle is this piece crucial to operation im going to get one just wondering will it hurt it to ride it without it? until it comes in ? also is the carb hard to rebuild? i ordered a kit at JD i think he said it only comes with gaskets or will i get a new float and needle valve as well ?

bartrr, Drive belt always turns and both clutches always turn. The belt guard/brace is important because it holds the motor in place under acceleration. Can you run without one? It probably has been for awhile. The bolts are probably broken off or stripped in the holes in the head where it goes. It should be on there. Deere doesn't have kits for carbs, you have to buy everything seperately. ....
