I have a 1998 or 2001 john deere gator turf 4x2 with the 18 hp water cooled v-twin OHV engine and every time I go to get spark plugs for it they try to give me some small plugs the book says it takes am122402 which am told does not cross to anything. Any help?

Sir, you have to clarify what you have. They didn't put liquid cooled motors in Turf gators. If you have a Turf you have a single cylinder , air cooled motor. If you have a liquid cooled motor, FD620D there are two types of heads. The older style takes a short plug, but the newer style will take the deeper plug. My advice is if you have a liquid cooled motor go to NAPA and get CJ14 plugs, they will work on both head styles. If you have an air cooled motor FE290D you will need a long reach plug. ....

am not sure if its a Turf or not the book book says Gator utility Vehicle. But I know the guy who bought it first he said that he had the bigger engine put in it and from what I can tell its the engine that went in the 6x4 gator. Its not the original engine and the plugs are long ....
