I have 55 acres half pasture and half hardwoods will be doing some excavating, grading, pulling timber and brush hogging along with some finish mowing. Would like some suggestions on whether I should go with the TC45da or the TC55DA. Can anyone comment on the EHSS transmission?

The EHSS is a clutch less shuttle shift trans that allows change of direction with out using the clutch or coming to a full stop. It is also synchronized to allow shift between gears on the fly. You still have to come to a complete stop to go between ranges.
Either on will do what you want to do. The 55 is a little longer and the are both about the same width. The 55 will lift much more than the 45.
Go drive them and see which on you like better. ....

Sorry but the TN 55 is no longer made. The smallest TN right now is the TN60 which is about 5 grand more than the TC55DA. ....
