Thanks for the input Hardwood- by stabilizer I mean one of those large drum tillers, Bomag is one brand I often see- it's about a 4'diameter tiller, 10-12' wide, that I see being used to grind up the roadbase after the asphalt is removed and prior to recompacting and repaving.
I am using a 1200# double offset now, and it generally stirs things up nice until those aforementioned "forearm" chunks ( the ideal size to get stuck on the disks) thus acting like a rotating depth guage set to 1"!! Sometimes they get cut in half, only to stick again later-arrgh!!
I obviously need to pay for more viewage on this site.

Art-as far as cosmetics, with the exception of the rear fender that a tree fell on(DOH!) and the surface rust on the hood and the enevitable diesel leakage it's just in need of a good bath and some more blue paint.

....AND, how long will it be before there is a 'Cars Direct'- type site for tractors. It's just a product, and it's just followup/maintenence/warranty issues just like autos, so what's the big deal??

Anyone have good or bad experience with this particular cutter-BH 278? For an 8'er it,s unusual in that it has 2 instead of three gearboxes(so it can be offset, but as I understand it doesn't have to be) My local BH dealer says he has never stocked or sold one...<br>
I'm also considering Rhino TW96, Bush Hog 3008 and JD MX8- any feedback on these?
