Whatever you do...don't take that pump off or apart! Hopefully, it's just the throttle shaft that's sized. Try shooting some penetrating oil on it where the shaft goes into the pump.

You need to go back to the axle and correctly adjust the bearing preload. There are a series of nuts to accomplish this. Tighten the nuts until you can start feeling the bearing chatter and then back off slightly until it feels smooth. This will eliminate the wobble (unless the bearing has totally fail and fallen out of the cage). If there was any undercutting from the old seal, the new one won't fare any better. Install a Redi sleve to provide a new wear surface.

I have a front blower for my little tractor. The first time I used I realized the advantage of having multiple forward speeds (powershift trans). As the snow depth varied I was able to gear up or down to match the load. Unfortinatly, this sucked when backing up as I have to clutch to shift ranges (only one reverse speed in the range). Not being familiar with your tractor this might be something to consider.

I believe that Koyker makes brackets to mount their 80 on your tractor. Looking at the pic, the loader seems to be a bit big, but at least it's available.

As brutal as it may be, we have traditionally used a hammer to releave the pressure. Some couplers will allow a small face hammer to hit the coupler and release the pressure. Sometimes we need to use a "drift" of sorts. Usually the hammer and drift are what ever implements are handy. ie a stick and a rock. You basically need to depress the face of the coupler to release the pressure. The better quality couplers will allow connection to be made under residual pressure. Please don't forget that residual pressure can also exist on the tractor side.

On my 96 215 5 speed, the best I've seen has been 22mpg. I usually got around 14 pulling 7,000lbs around 80mph. I'm now running a 305 series tire which seems to of hurt the milage slightly. I have not adjusted for the incorect speedo. Turning the engine up to around 450 rear wheel hp hasn't affected the milage any.

The gear vendors unit is supposed to be an exceptional unit. You would need to get the deisel rated unit if using it on a diesel. The unit will not work in 4wd mode. With the NV4500 5spd trans, I've heard of some trucks breaking their tail shaft housing when the power is turned up. If you are towing, I don't think you'd have the power to use the overdrive. It would be more for dead heads. I think the overdrive would be of more use with a auto truck than the manuals due to the fewer gears in a auto.

I installed a Powertrax unit in my D80 open diff. Due to my installation error the unit broke almost immediatly. Richmond gear stood behind their unit and repaired it for no charge. The second installtion went smoothly and the unit has been trouble free since then. This unit definetly works. The tire are locked together most of the time. You do get the ocassional bang or clicking as the unit ratchets. There is also a slight surge as the inside tire is accelerated when cornering. For the cost difference of swapping in the Powertrax vs having the rear end reset for a new differential, I feel it has a excellent value.

He's right about the weight. Just under a grand. She's a wee little thing. The tractor has a single stage clutch. For logging purposes this tractor would not make a very good choice. It doesn't have nearly enough weight or power to make a good skidding platform. But for me to drop a tree, anchor the winch (not the tractor) and pull it to a location where it is more convient to cut up is feasible. I only need a couple of cords of wood a year, so we're not talking more than a dozen trees. I also want something where if the tree is headed in the wrong direction or gets hung up I will have better control of it.

I suspect the problem with the Howse equipment is that it's coming from China. I have no proof of this, but I was surfing the web recently and tripped over a site importing equipment from China. Their equipment was a splitting image of the Howse equipment. This makes sense as much of the product that Northern carries is cheap a$$ junk from China.

Here's the technique I use:

You need two people. One to operate the tractor, the second to hold the chain. Wrap the chain twice around the post and have the ground person hold the end. The other end of the chain is somehow hooked onto the loader. You raise the loader and the post pops right out. A quick flip of the chain and it's off. Two people used to working together can pull a post every couple of minutes.

I own a very small Yanmar tractor. Mine is the size of a large garden tractor. To say the least, I'm very impressed with this tractor. Often when you get to the smaller machines the mfr's will start to cheapen the machines to keep them under a price point. Not this little fella. This a real tractor, just in a smaller scale. This is not a lawn tractor or a garden tractor. This machine is built to work every day for 30 years. that said, it does have some draw backs. Parts are hard to come by. Service is impossible-you must be able to wrench for yourself. The ability to resell the tractor is also limited as it's not a known brand. But it's for those three reasons that the purchase price of these tractors is so depressed. My biggest advice to you is to check over any tractor that you are looking at very closely. Note anything that might be wrong and look into weither or not you can get parts for it. There are some parts that are unobtainable.

I recently saw a Ym155d at a local dealer with a loader. I was interested in buying the tractor, but other issues (it wasn't for sale) prevented that from happening. I asked the dealer how much he thought it was worth and he said around 4k.

Transmission: JD303, 11L (11.6qt)
Engine: diesel rated, 1.9L (2qt) the person that posted this was using Rotella 15w40
Coolant: 25% antifreeze MAX, 2.7L (2.8qt)
Oil Filter: Napa 1064
Fuel Filter: Napa 3262
Air Filter: Napa 7-02701 or 7-02203 both of which are 1/8" too short. He used a piece of rubber hose to help it seal.
