Hello all. Love this forum. I just bought a house on about 3 acres of old farm land. The land has been recently plowed. My question is: How do I try and turn over a little money with this land with out to much overhead. I live in the house, and hate to just have a field. I've never farmed, but I'm handy as a farm hand. Also I have a john deere M and a mitsu satoh with implements. Any advice please. <br>

Well congratulations on becoming a Premium member of Tractor Point! I will look forward to the pictures you post. It is not junk, I think women view it as "man stuf" ;O) but like to consider it as "necessary miscellaneous residential implementation". ;O) Anyhow is sure is nice to have around when you need it. I am sure you will find that your membership fee will be money and time WELL spent.

I change my oil every 100 hours or annually. If your 2210 sets alot and does not reach the hours in a year to require the change; try the 100 hour/year schedule. Oil and filters are cheap compared to allowing oil with combustion by products and potentially corrosion causing material to set in the engine for such a long time.

I just re-read your first post and realized you have a clearance issue with the front tires. Dont bother putting chains on the front, the rears are more important anyway.
I would gather you either have a FEL, blade or Blower on the front. Once you raise that off the ground the weight will be on the front wheels, giving good traction. Most have chains on rears without any traction problems...

I honestly dont have any of the problems you mentioned having with your Wheelhorse. Zero traction issues and plenty of weight (suitcase & wheel weights)

I made my hyd. top link from parts from Tractor Supply (about $80)---all you need is a 2"x8" stroke hydraulic cylinder, two weld-on top ball-mounts, and a welder. The top link is hard-plumbed into the tractor since I don't remove it---and I use it all the time. The selector is fed from the factory remotes' plumbing. From there power can be diverted to the top link or the entended remotes through a 4-way selector valve behind the seat (had to move the tool box over) Switching between either is simply a pull/push of a the selector knob (I kinda cheated---bad back---and extended the knob control by three feet to a lever next to the seat bracket). After it all said and done I probably have $350 into it---lines, bracketry, fittings, selector valve, etc.

TomRoberts: I know it's something I'm doing wrong as I'm not the most computer literate fellow on the block, but I wasn't able to make your pictures come up. One of the boys will be by the house later and he'll know how to make it work. I don't know if you were asking about my Land Pride quick coupler or someone elses, but here goes. Quick hitches aren't perfect, but there a far cry from lining up pins in 3 pt. arms. It helps a lot to be on a level surface. Usually when changing from one impliment to another the top link of the 3 pt. will have to be adjusted either longer or shorter not only for hitching up but to level the tool for proper field operation later. I don't have one but there are hydraulic top links available that would likely make it even more convenient. After you've did it a few times it becomes pretty routine. Far as PTO shaft length, so far I've not had anything that was too short. This part has been hashed a few times before about quick hitch brands, but I bought Land Pride because of their adjustable upper hook. As cat.1 3pt. hitches were being developed nobody seemed to set a standard as to the distance between the axis of the lower pins to the axis of the top link pin, so an adjustable top hook comes in handy for that. I'm sure other brands offer that feature as well. Far as play in the hitch system because of the extra hitch points being involved, the is bound to be some, but not enough that it's a big deal. With the jerky-ness going away after 15-20 minutes of use I would tend to lean toward the oil viscoity. I would not rule out a kinked line, bogus filter or the inline strainer.

Another possible area is the loader hyd couplers one of those could be defective.

Do you park it with the bucket lowered? If not as it settles it could pull air into the system and it has to purge it each time.

I agree with Yooperpete. My 1946 Farmall M has a canvas Heat Houser. It was made in NE in the early 1950s and still works OK, some patches at the canvas shop after hitting stuff....The small windsheild can be removed for "in-your-face" tractor operation! I ran google for it but only found a similar rig at: http://www.beavervalleysupply.com/sectionh/regal.htm<br>
The engine heat is more than enough to keep you warm. Drawback, of course, is not having overhead cover, but it may work with standard shade tops on the ROPS.<br>

Most skid steers still use the sticks for turning, but some are availible with the hand controls for the bucket/boom.<br>
On the skid steers I most often run at the top of the steering sticks I control the bucket/boom by twisting my wrists at the top of the steering sticks. I much prefer this system. The foot peddles control attachments such as power brooms, offsetting/tilting for our mills and saws Etc.<br>
Even with lots of experiance I still get into situations where I end up on looking straight in the air or the accasional front nose dive power slam from trying to load trucks with to much weight in the bucket at to high of speed for conditions.

I have used this tractor to clear my 15 acres of badly overgrown field to build a new house.<br>
Tilled and leveled 6 acres for lawn, backfilled around the new house, dug and backfilled 880' of water line, dug and backfilled 600' electric line, buried 600' phone line,dug out 600'+ driveway and turn around area, spread 100+ ton of stone on drive, dug and backfilled over 500' drainage ditch, drilled post holes for fence, mows my 6 acre lawn, brush mows my 9 acre field, tills my garden, Etc. Etc.<br>
Very happy with this tractor,its power, its fit and finish and its reliability.<br>
I would definately buy another.

My BX2200 is way off too. I believe it took 1 qt more than the manual stated. Someone told me maybe they put the wrong dipstick in the machine during the assembly process. I checked and it's the right one. I called Kubota directly and they told me to go by the dipstick but couldn't explain why it was off 1qt. Considering it calls for around 2.4 and it took 3.5 I was (and still am) a little worried I am overfilling it. I have close to 300 trouble free hours on the engine now.

As far as my hydro fluid goes....I didn't go crazy measuring that out. I kept pouring until it was at the full make, bleed it out, checked it , refilled it, bled it again and then met the make and it stayed put.

You have more icons next to your name than I do but to those ne tractor owners out there- BE SURE TO TAKE THE STRAINER OUT AND CLEAN IT!!! You won't believe your eyes and you will want to call 911 at your 50 hour service when you see the metal. This is normal and what the strainer was put there for. You won't get rich selling the scrap metal on your strainer but if you don't clean it at every hydro change you will have a big hunk of scrap called your rear end and tranny!

More on the tire foam topic: I know a guy who does concrete work and had the tires on his skid loader filled with what he describes as "hard foam". He said there is 150lbs in each tire (12.5x16.5's???) and that it cost $1/lb. He thinks it's wonderful that he can drive over broken concrete with rebar sticking out without worrying about tires.

My 4110 operates the same way, wheras my 332 operates a light and when the light goes out it starts right away. Maybe the 4110 is operating the way its supposed to?
