Murf, are you sure you were at Keeneland, the airport (Bluegrass Field) is across the highway from Keeneland. This allows all of the oil barons direct access to the track. The Marriott is located on Newtown Pike close to I-75 on the north side of town.

I don't mind snow. I have a company SUV and a personal SUV, therefore I can go most of the time. There is nothing like a fresh snowfall early in the morning. In February of '03 we had a bad ice storm, much worse than any snow.

Is that the one below my seat on the right that has the rabbit, N and Turtle...sorry to sound so new at this but I am.

I tried that last night and it was hard to do but I got some relief and then it wouldnt work again. Could that be the problem, not sure why all of a sudden it started doing it

We have a different use for wood chips or shavings. We are moving our small horse herd to a new barn in Colorado and need to find a smaller scale piece of equipment (preferrably used) that we can use to make wood shavings/chips for bedding. Everything we have found to date is either for larger mulch type chipping or it is very large scale and very $$$

Any suggestions out there?

I am in PA and there is no Ag diesel I know of.
When I order home heating oil for the house, it is stamped right on the bill, "dyed #2 diesel". I asked about it and was told it is the same fuel in our state, just dyed. I have had no problems running it in any diesel equipment from a small kubota up. Even down to 0 deg. F. with no additives. All my neighboring dairy farms do the same-- fill the house and the farm tank at the same time. $1.42 for dyed, $2.10-$2.30 for road. The state does check vehicles at times to catch cheaters

A bump is what we use on the below forum to bring a thread back up to the top of the page.
It's usually done if the original poster don't get a reply to his post.
Oft times a bump results in the orginal poster getting an answer to his question or at least a reply to his post just as it did here for longspur .

I pay someone to change the oil. I don't have a container that can hold the 14 (I think) quarts of oil. That and the time is tight so it's easier for me to just pay someone.

For my 2000 F250 w/7.3L Turbo diesel, I typically pay $55-60 per oil change. But I use premium oil for diesels. I won't let some generic car oil go in there. I need this baby to go at least 300k miles. 125k miles so far.

Alan: I've got the same set up as Chad. Works fine. Was a JD parts kit, came with all of the connectors. Either of you have a JD power pack vacuum system?

My parents have a place in the northern part of WV in the mountains and they winterize it every fall. They actually have the pressure tank and everything buried in the ground inside a barrel and it has worked well so far. They drain the lines and put marine antifreeze in the traps so they don't freeze and bust. They cut all the power and take everything out of the fridge. It has worked well so far and in the spring, they open it back up.
I did notice you said you had a trailer. My concern would be snow build up on the roof. Two years ago we had to clean their trailer roof off which had 4" of ice plus 36 inches of snow on it. A guy up the road wasn't so lucky and his trailer caved in. My uncle's trailer had some of the trusses break, so he put a house type roof on it.

I would be very interested in the hoe specs and reviews. I must mention that by first using my woods tiller to break-up the sod, my earthmoving speed has doubled.

I have a 38 year old BOLENS Garden Tractor With a 4 foot front blade and a tiller on the rear.
I have used this set up to move a lot of dirt before I got my bx23.
Some thing handy about the tiller on the Bolens is I can till up a pile of dirt then scoop it up with the BX23 FEL. Now I have fine dirt when I need it to work with.

I have the Woods 5000 and believe that the two are basically the same except for paint. The blower add-ons are different, Woods is single speed and Bearcat is two speed. Bearcat has one or two more accessories. I did not compare pricing.

They are a lot easier to justify after you have one. There will be things you do better and faster, and things you would not have been able to do at all once you start using it. For us, it has been a little bit of luxury, and a whole lot of machine.

My wife would even mow tell you it was a worthwhile investment.

the larger B-series will handle the 60" hog with little problem and more horsepower is always good but you can beat that with a hydro. The 48" will just barely cover wheel tracks if at all and makes it harder to look good. Ask the dealer if you could take it home and just drive over the area of concern with the mower to see if the tractor can handle it.

Mike1819: I had a Deere grapple on a Deere full size farm tractor. We had lots of old fencerow wire, posts, brush, rocks, you name it to move. It done a great job for the task I was dealing with. It was just a bit clumbsy for most other smaller jobs, so I sold it and put a Deere 4 in 1 bucket on the 430 loader. The 4 in 1 is a bit small for big brush jobs, but it seems to make up for that limitation doing dirt work, fine grading and that sort of thing. I'd say the 4 in 1 just has more potential uses that a grapple unless you have hay bales to move, grapples are great for that. Just my experience. Frank.

I need some NH advice as well . Could you please compare the loader work efficiency in the 1998 1720 4WD($9K) gear to a 2002 TC 30 or 35D hydro($15K) as well as a 1999 1920 4WD($13K) gear. There are a lot of fans on the 1720 and 1920's that say it will out work the new TC's. I realize that many people prefer hydro for short loader work.

Ben, we've been very happy with the 7800. Isn't too big for working in tight area, yet big enough to handle some pretty impressive work. As far as the 30hp, it feels pretty impressive. I can load up the box blade and not feel it working the tractor. This past winter I pushed a 14" snowfall without a problem, and did it in high range. We augered over 150 holes this past summer and it never broke a sweat. The only task we put it up to that it couldn't manage was pulling old fence posts with the FEL that were concreted in. I got about half of them, the others has to be dug, or pulled with the neighbors JCB.

I used a fork attachment on the FEL to unload the Semi of fence when it was delivered, and even amazed the driver with what I was able to pick.

The machine is relatively light for it's power, but traction has never been an issue for plowing, blading, or the FEL. I like the lighter machine when I go to trailer it. I very seldom use the 4wd, only when doing heavy FEL work.

Every machine will eventually get tested to it's limits. We haven't pushed our little baby there too often yet. It's been everything we wanted it to be. The only thing I miss is the position control on the 3pt. The 1/4" valve takes some getting used to, and I added a position indicator to the 3pt to compensate for not having the position control. You can see the indicator in picture 4, next to the aux SCV's.
