lbrown, the folks we bought our house from had cut plastic culvert in half lengthwise, thus ended up with "U-shaped", open top ditch liner. It runs parallel to our driveway. The drive runs about 350 feet, w/ 10-15% slope on part of it. I think they'd had it this way for several years. This spring, the amount of water coming off our hill, coupled with heavy rains lead to erosion below the culvert (it didn't run all the way down the hill). If you're going to try something like this, you might want to keep that in mind.

tompet, an indirect answer for you: I have the GC2300 w/ turfs and have had no problem. 90% of my work has been on lawn/gravel driveway. FEL work has not sufferred in my opinion. Weight distribution is important, but when I've needed traction & power, I've had plenty of both.

1*Tractor oil sumps seem to be only guesstimates. My 4100 said 2.6 quarts but the dipstick showed full at 1.9 quarts.
2*Run everything for a few minutes to make sure all the filters are filled and then add 8 ounces at a time until the dipstick reads right.

1*How can they miss it so far?
You would think they would know how much Oil and UDT they are putting in the tractors before they ship them out.
2*I did that.
I used 96 ounces of Oil which is 12.8 ounces more than the manual calls for.The Oil is now half way between the add and full marks.
I used 352 ounces of Super UDT.That's 6.4 more ounces than the book says and it still doesn't even show up on the dipstick.

Very good advice. I dropped a new Optima yellow top D51 in my 4110 before my stock JD Strong Box battery had a chance to cause any problems. It's in my Gravely rider now and will get plenty of attention in that machine, as well.

Check the battery compartment on your Deere 4000 series CUT REGULARLY

These springs don't need a rain to get wet .
They run all the time.
Even in the worst and longest drought we had s few summers ago they never stopped flowing just slowed down so

How far are you looking to go with pulling? There are used ones out there already built to different classes. The 966 chassis is a good one as the 400 series diesel engine has many parts available thru Hypermax which is owned by the original designer of the engine who at the time worked for IH.

I only recommend 4' bush hogs on 7610 chassis size tractors. On the 7800 size chassis the five foot that you are using behind your tractor would work fine.

If I remember correctly, the lower arms on my BX zeroed out on the rear tires not the backhoe frame.

You would really have to try a quick hitch on this class of tractor to see if it works. Things are a little tight back there.

The Deere blade for the 2210 is the same one as my 4115. It is about the only moderately priced product Deere has.

I paid $900 for mine last year. It raises and lowers just like the FEL and the dump/curl circuit angles the blade left and right. It's a well made, easy to use outfit.

You can lift the blade and stack the snow on the lawn and you can probably push it about 3 feet in before you get the wheels on the grass.

According to JD your OPERATING weight is 2825#, and ballast only adds ~200# to an 11.2x24, and is effectively countered by front ballast in the form of your FEL. So getting pushed downhill is a VALID concern. <br>

-power adjustment <br>
-inertial deceleration (vehicle)<br>
-inertial deceleration (trailer)<br>
-hydraulic over electric<br>
Since your biggest worry will be control on downhill slopes, I'd recommend the inertial deceleration (vehicle) type. <br>

Electric brakes pull ~3 amps per magnet. Assuming 2 chipper brake drums, one 8A breaker on the supply side is sufficient. Some controllers also require a fuse on the switch side. <br>

Generally, IMHO, most of the blowers have homeowner, commercial and professional lines. The difference is the thickness of the materials, gear boxes and fans. Some brands have optional stuff others it comes standard.

#1 Look at size of Fan and depth.
#2 4 paddles is MUCH better than 3
#3 paddle attachment good welds and back bracing

Me thinks if you pay close attention to those areas the rest of the blower is built around the fan and the quality will be there. You may have to add some options.

Look at your shipping weights. More weight means more steel which will outlast a lighter one given the same applications.

A light weight blower used carefully by a smart home owner will probably outlast the heavist professional unit used 8 hrs daily in the worst stuff.

I have looked at the Meteor lightweight line and they are built as good as the variety. Bottom line you'll get what you pay for here. If you are careful and only do your own driveways you will be fine with most any brand.

If the neighbor calls you to come and help him out because he ran out of push room with his snow plow and you start busting ice chunks, frozen sod, a block of fire wood, large rocks from the scalp job, you may get disapointed with a light weight unit.

Sorry about the long winded reply. But been there done that!

Art sold me a used Pronovost professional unit I use it carefully but I use it anywhere.

You are right on the weights but that seems to be the most common unit I've seen. I haven't seen the weights of the trailer.

This tractor is one of the best I ever owned. It has alot of power from the CAT motor which is a 3011C model. Perkins is owned by CAT and thus it is classified as a CAT motor. I have had no problems with this tractor and it has done every task I asked from it and more. I have the loader,backhoe,cab and snowblower for it and all components work great. If you buy this tractor you won't regret it.
