U-haul has an Auto Transport Trailer that looks ideal (see link below); but I've been told they won't rent it out for anything but car transport. The 800 number people said they want the vehicle registration number on the vehicle to transport before they will take a reservation. When I said tractor they freaked. When I said big lawn mower they suggested a small utility trailer. This idea doesn't look promising.

We have a rent it place here that has 3 Terramite Tractors they rent out.
They haul the Terramite on a trailer that is the same length as the tractor.They tow this with a flat bed or dump bed truck like the Ford F 350.
The trailer is different than most trailers. It's not a tilt bed and no loading ramps are needed.
The bed lowers clear down flat with the ground or pavement so you just drive straight onto the trailer.
Anyone have a trailer like this?
If U Haul won't rent you a trailer try an equipment rental place.

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for all the advice and ideas. I used the tractor last night with all 7 headlights, 2 tail lights, and the flashers and the fuse didn't even get warm. It ran perfect. I used it for about two hours. Tonight I am going to try it with the headlights in the switch position that has just the headlights and tail lights with no flashers and see what happens. If it starts melting, that should narrow it down to the light switch. I'll post the results here.

I took another look at the pictures of your trailer.
The wheels on it look just like the wheels on my 8 foot utility trailer.
What size are they?
Looks like your trailer sits pretty low to the ground so the ramps up to it would not be quite as steep.
What do you use for ramps?
Could you tell me how much the empty trailer weighs
Wonder if the manufacturer ships to Ohio.

When you place the order for the tractor ask for the manuals and read carefully. Then when you get the tractor you will know all of these little things. After you have used it for a few hours go back and reread the manual, things seem to make more sense after you have had your hands on the tractor.

No, home made from a $15 Fleet-Farm draw bar and some scrap steel from work. I did use it to effeciently bend my top link though. (other Pic.) Works good for the trailers. (see the rest of the website)

Steve, as Art mentioned he & chatted of this very thing last year. I have modified tractors and other equipment for 'non-standard' operation, but mostly for specialized uses, remote control, for mining or forestry uses for example.<br>

Basically, any Hydro-statically driven tractor is very easy to modify and use this way.Any competent fabrication or machine shop should be able to quite easily do the work. <br>

In some cases it is remarkably easy to do. Certain makes & models the control is via a push/pull cable assembly which can merely be re-routed to suit.<br>

A good idea for winter useage is a oil pan heater. Cold starting, especially in the winter, is the hardest thing on an engine beacause of the viscosity of the cold oil. A magnetic oil pan heater with a thermostat is pretty in-expensive, around $25, and does a decent job of keeping the oil warm in the pan.

Remember that the hydraulic fluid is just as important for lubrication as the oil. Make sure you let the tractor warm up to operating temperature before use in the winter. This will get the hydraulic oil warm and flowing for lubrication of the drive train and hydraulic system. There is a tendency for some condensation freeeze up in your SCV valves in the winter also. Letting the warm hydraulic oil flow quickly solves this.

Always use Super UDT, especially for winter use. The cold and hot temperature specs for Super UDT are much better than for regular UDT.

An oil pan or block heater and a little patience for warm up will assure good lubrication for winter use. I also use a lower "w" number oil in the winter.

To have more then you do now a good size older ford in the 3000 to 4000 size is where you need to be to have a good gain. To use the tools you have now you would need at least somethng in the like the Case-IH Dx35 that is the sister to the New Holland. I wouldn't go below that size for a good match-up.

When a hydro starts clanking the options of travel are slim with the tractor. One would be by truck and the other would be to pick it up. That simplifies it quite a bit as when a hydro makes a clank it's days of working are over. Glad we could help you!

Most commercial machines can probably pump a tire to about 30 lbs on water fill which would be about three or so inches over the valve stem height when vertical. It does happen but the biggest conern is a level full foot print on the ground which means removal of air and unfortunately fluid to have the optimum benifit.

This type of problem often is just some needed lubrication on all pivot points on the linkage external to the transmission. That doesn't mean it is your problem but it might be just a sticky petal. Some times one pivot point or another might need some extra lubrication until the paint is all removed or maybe it is just a tight fit. You could attempt it yourself or you might contact your dealer.

Getting scary close to purchasing a GC2310 + implements. Only have an acre so shying from larger machines, but concerned about power/weight to do needed tasks:<br>

pasture leveling and gravel road maintenance using box blade<br>

trenching, tree planting using backhoe<br>
<br>
chipping/shredding up to 2 inches diameter<br>

rotary tilling garden areas, which will include pasture<br>

assorted loader tasks including dumping into a RAM 2500.<br>

I am eagerly seeking advice from someone who has actually used the GC2310 to do some or all of these tasks. Any advice/experience/caution/horror stories/success stories will be GREATLY appreciated.<br>

To bad your 706 is that worn out and well aware of the gas problem with them. The forward low and reverse of a 706 is simulair to the shuttle used on the NH only you don't need the clutch and it shuttles all the gears not just 8 as with your 706. You can also find the hydraulic shuttles on the full featured Kubota M-series tractors. They introduced shuttles to the industry back in the mid to late 80's. I would be looking at the M6800 model or the M8200 or even a M9000 model to replace the 706. They were an extremely well built tractor and we had many out pulling a five bottom 16" plow so don't go to light on the new one. I'd have to say a fairer comparison from deere to your 706 would come from the smaller 6000 series.

Grinder, we have universal cutting edges in various sizes and I've welded several at this point on three point blowers to asist them in scraping off blacktop and concrete driveways. It does make a good difference on the job they do on scraping hard pack especially with the top link extended a bit.

I have a John Deere LX 255 which I purchased in Oct 1999 along with a John Deere snow thrower. The equipment is garaged when not in use and the recommended lubrication and oil change, fuel filter, spark plug, etc, has been done ever spring. Used to mow about 1 1/4 acres of grass and the snow thrower has seen only one real bad winter with alot of snow (for Maryland). I am selling my place and have no use for this type of equipment and whant to sell it...how can I find out what a fair price is for such JD equipment?

I think the main thing to keep in mind in this whole discussion is that over time Kubota has changed and improved their hyd.system to accomadate new features on their implements.What works on one tractor does not work on another,depending on the hyd. system and controls.An example would be as follows.Snow throwers used to lift and lower using the 3point hitch.No need for aux.hyd.at all.Then they offered a front cylinder lift option that used the FEL control valve to operate the cylinder and the float position to allow the thrower to follow the ground.If you did not have an FEL you stuck with the 3point lift.Then they offered an optional chute rotation via. an hyd. motor that took advantage of a different control valve they had started using on the FEL.These changes were also reflected in other implements when they could be used.Just my observation.
