If it is a four position switch it probably works as follows:
Off is all the way left
Warning lights is in the second position
Headlights and taillights third
Everything is fourth position

I just could'nt stand it any longer, so I had to speak my piece again on the Deere 4310/4410 tractors. I got one of each, both with 12/12 E/power reversers. I guess it's to each his own, but I've had years of experience with hydro drive tractors, combines, etc. For 99% of all jobs especially shuttle work you could'nt give me a hydro over the 12/12 reverser on a compact. They've both been great little tractors, I had a 4300 Deere prior to these two and it also was a 12/12 shuttle, I just got so used to it that I don't want anything else. I do have problems with my left knee, but with the 12/12 there's no need to ever touch the clutch pedal on a ten series. Well that's enough from me on that, I'll keep quite from now on about the hydro/gear thing, everybody's heard it by now. Frank.

Didn't see all of these requirements when I replied to your question on the other post. Picking up the 1,500 lb. bales and running a baler sheds a different light. You need a good all around farm utility tractor. Depending upon the amount of features you can do without I would suggest the Deere 5205 or the 5220/5320. The 5205 is the more basic of the two but offers the 8F/4R SyncShuttle trans. whereas the 5220/5320 offers the 12/12 Power Shuttle trans.

I get the clear impression that price matters here and I would say the 5205 is more the machine you are after.

I am not sure if you saw the Deere 4710 tractors the 101st Airborne Avaiton Brigade had over there? I contracted those machines for the 101st before I retired.

The Deere 990 and 4000 Series compact tractors can do a good bit of farm work but they are not built and designed for the really heavy tasks such as toting a 1,500 lb. round bale or running high pto hp machinery. They can do it but are not best suited to it.

I think the Deere 5205 is right in the range you need.

Thanks av And I do hear both of you on the tight fit. Was a little concerened myself but did need a trailer pretty fast. For hauling the tc40, that would be only if I was to need any work on it so its not going to be that bad. the few times I will use it for moving the tractor I will need to plan out my trips and be a bit careful. I will be hauling my 9n ford soon (before the snow fly's) so I will get a taste (on a smaller tractor) on how it will handle.

In my opinion, $8500 is kinda high but not too far off. I would suggest offering $6500 and haggle up from there. Does not sound like this machine has had a good life.

I have NH TC33D with the extendable lower arms---it (was) a hassle. I'm a contractor with 5 implements that I need to change-out on a job. I was wasting about an hour each day switching implements the old way. My remedy: I designed and built 5 dedicated "quick attach plates" similar to a quick-attach for a skid steer loader, which are permanently welded to the tool. The mating quick-attach carrying/mounting plate is mounted to the 3pt hitch on the tractor. A custom hydraulic top link complements the system. To pick-up-and-go all I do is lower the hitch, tilt the top link backward, line up the tractor and back up. Then, raise the hitch while tilting the top link forward, and from the seat throw two DeStaco over-center latches. The mounting plate has an opening for those tools with PTO shafts. Works great, saves time and aggravation. Have about $1000 spread over 5 pieces (brushhog, power rake, box scraper, power angle landscape rake, combination boom pole with trailer hitch).

Many people find it easier to clean the hydrolic screen if you remove the wheel.

I'm not sure I found the hydraulic screen.
Is it at the bottom rear left corner of the transmission?
Is the suction tube it goes in, the metal tube that runs up the left side of the back end of the transmission?
Does the screen take a pretty large # 26 metric wrench to remove?

Maybe it is a given, but what about turning the blade around and pushing in reverse to prevent the tires from packing down the snow? It would take a few trials to get the right angle-of-attack, and possibly some added weight to the blade depending on the type of snow.

For preventing damage such as scratches in the pavement, consider using a flexible cutting edge such as natural rubber (from an old conveyor belt, or an out-stretched car tire tread) or the more durable "cast urethane" which is used on severe-duty snow plows. A 7' piece of urethane is pricey--$300 plus. You can use the existing cutting edge and longer bolts to secure the rubber cutting edge.

Update � I�ve developed a system that seems to work quite well at dispersing the little-buggers. I use the hose to open up the tunnels, then slowly pour used cat liter into the hole, letting the water carry it down into the tunnel. One application per colony seems to be enough. Although, I�ve been giving each colony a follow-up dose 1-week later, just in case. So far, all activity has stopped in the treated areas.

I always knew that some day those darn cats would earn their keep. :-)

I've had the engine almost conk out when I bounce or shift position in the seat - even with my seatbelt on. I know this is caused by the safty cutout. I've also had my BX23 suddenly roll off my tilted trailer when I shift into neutral to start it up. The brake seems to be pretty useless. I have to remember to start the engine THEN tip the trailer bed.

Have you discovered this about your BX23

I bought one from a John dealer. $400 realy looks nice, but I forgot all the trees on my Property! I'm now trimming trees and my wife is laughing at me Oh well she also laughed on our Honeymoon!! Ha! Ha!

I may already have my answer, but would like to get some input from the experts here. I have a B7610HST with 80 hours on it, and it has been fully serviced. Here's the problem. If the tractor is idling and I move forward a short distance, the hydro makes an audible and periodic clanking noise like a hammer hitting the casing. This does not happen at 2000rpm where I typically operate it. It this cavitation or something serious to look into? Thanks in advance.

loghouse95---You seem to be a man who tries to work things out. Of all the other problems I have had, now with only 80 hours on this 2360 tractor the tie rod end ( on the power steering actuator)has gone bad ! In your opinion when do you think a tractor should be considered a "LEMON" I have many post here to help in your decision Thanks
