The tire tread thing has been hashed and hashed with everyone having their reasons for a different tread design. Chains are by far the best traction aid yet invented, but they ride rough, can tear up fenders, scratch up blacktop drives, etc.,so plenty of pluses and plenty of negatives for chains. If winter traction were your only concern without chains then probably R-1 tires with plenty of wheel weights would provide the greatest pressure per sq. in. on the surface of the tread bar theoreticly giving you the best traction on ice, packed snow, etc.. but then there is the issue of R-1's tearing up turf in the summer, so I guess I don't have a solid answer for you, I've just raised more issues. Personally I don't push much snow with a compact so I still like my R-4"s for 99% of all other work. Now I've probably really stirred up an issue. Frank.

Diesel engines like heat. They depend upon it for combustion. A severely cold soaked diesel engine will normally need some type of starting aid (ABSOLUTELY NOT ether) such as glow plugs, intake heater grid, or a fuel vaporizer. Not to mention a block heater. The more preheat appllied, the easier to start the engine. Diesel fuel normally is treated for the area it is sold in but in some cases in severe cold the fuel can gel. In VA, you can leave the tractor outside but it ain't gonna like it if you try to start it on a really cold morning in the teens. Best to store it inside and if possible plug in the block heater an hour or two before use. Applied preheat as required. This will make life much easier on the engine and result in much less wear and tear due to a much faster warm up cycle. Otherwise you can listen to it moan an groan to turn over and rattle & knock like hell on a really cold first start of the day.

Looked at this tractor today, don't know the year, guy said it was early 1980s with the following PTO attachments: Bush Hog,<br>
Finishing Mower (3 blades), Scraper Blade, Rototiller and Box Blade.<br>

Engine sounds pretty good, 2 pistons - gears all work; he's asking $6000 for all. Anyone have an idea on this price??? Don't know anyone who has this brand of tractor with these attachments,just Kubotas are a good brand. By the way, the attachments are in very good shape, blades, etc. appear to have very little wear and are sharp. Any help or advice would be appreciated!

Just hit 50 hours on my BX 23 yesterday.<br>
Picked up the oil fluid and filters today.<br>
Cost me $57.42 tax included. Was that reasonable or within the going rate?<br>
Hope to get em changed tomorrow.<br>
Any good tips for doing the first 50 hour service.<br>

Until you run out of dirt which is what happened to me but I solved that by digging 2 drainage ditches.
Now I have twice as much dirt as I had when I first got my bx23 and that was a bunch..

The power steering circuit is the best way to bleed the hydraulic circuit. Turn the wheel a few times all the way to the left and right. This effectively bleeds the system.
Always change the oil when you change the filters.

Doesn't changing the transmission fluid also change the powering steering fluid?
Is their a PS Filter in addition to the Trans. filter?

Is the B 7800 the only with 2 trans filters?

Well the problem I had before with the lights was due to corrosion on the fuse for the headlights. That created resistance and melted the fuse and fuse block. <br>

Now that it's up and running, does anyone here have rear work light mounted on their 855 or similar? I didn't know if the light splices into the fender headlight or does it run all the way back to the switch? I believe the work light comes on with the headlights but not sure. It's getting pretty dark early around here and I am still out there working away.<br>

After posting my question I did find the other threads on this issue. I don't feel drift is "normal". When I raise the FEL with or without a load it immediately start dropping about 6 to 8 inches within a minute.

This was a recent and sudden change from the FEL's normal operation. I haul mostly brush cuttings and wood and I usually leave the bucket at waste level for an hour of more while I loaded it without noticing any drift. After dropping a load on a brush pile the drift was so noticable I thought I had bumped the SCV control with my leg.

After reading the posts here, I assume I have bad seals on the loader arms rams. Do you have an idea what is a fair price to have both cylinders rebuilt?

I just saw a Kubota B 2400 on a Ford 350 flat bed
truck.

Th truck had dual wheels and the bed loked to be about 14 or 16 feet.

He had what looked like doubled 2x12s for ramps.

Didn't seem to be any strain on the truck.

Here in Ontario, as well as many other jurisdictions, most trailers (and trucks) need to be inspected annually for safety items, as well as compliance with the appropriate regulations or requirements.

More and more inspection stations are refusing to certify anything that doesn't bear a CMVSS (or FMVSS) endorsement from a registered manufacturer.

It may also come up if you ever need to make an insurance claim, a lot of insurance companies have a waiver in the policy, they won't cover a 'homemade' trailer or any contents. If you had a CUT on a 'homemade' trailer it could be an expensive lesson.

I used a U-haul like in the photo to bring 70 TA Firebird from Arizona back to WI. U-haul was all concerned about liability and wanted to see the tow vehicle 86 4x4 Suburban and load before they stamped the deal to leave Arizona. They had a list of "approved" tow vehicles and they were only full sized trucks. If you don't meet all of their criteria, they don't cover the trailer or you. Trip went well except brakes on trailer when out in Oklahoma. I'd sure be cautious about doing anything to one of their trailers or trucks, "you are responsable for modifications" you could get nailed for a new floor or worse. Some of the dealers take digital photos of the equipment before it leaves now.

Noticed you are from Maine, my daughter in law is now in Bangor and my son in Salisbury. I do not miss the snow!

Web, there is another way you can accomplish the same thing, probably cheaper and easier.

If you get a 2-position, 6-way selector solenoid-operated valve, and install it between the existing hydraulic valve for the FEL and the bucket cylinders (bucket curl circuit) then with just a click of a switch on your existing loader control joystick toggles back & Forth between curling the bucket and opening or closing the grapple.

We do this with our units for when we put snowplows on in place of the bucket for the winter. Then the existing side-to-side function of the joystick become the plow's power angle control. The existing up/down of the FEL itself is unchanged in either position of the valve, only the curl function changes.

It makes it real handy leaving everything on one control.

I am considering the purchase of a 360DTC with the loader and backhoe. My other choice is the NH TC30 TLB or the TC29D TLB. Both the NH come with an 8ft. backhoe, whereas the FT has a 7.5ft. hoe. The subframe attachment doesn't leave much clearance under the tractor on the 360DTC, and on slightly uneven ground the back of the Hoe assembly and bucket get hung up on the ground. Does the NH backhoe have more clearance that the FT? The 360DTc seems like a lot more tractor - although it is not hydro - whereas the NHs are hydro. I could move up to the 330DTC which is hydro - perhaps that would be wiser. My tasks are putting in a new driveway, digging up stumps, cleaning garbage out of a ditch and burying it, digging a small pond, landscaping excavation etc. I like the power of the long tractors, just not sure about the loader and backhoe.

sounds like you're trying to sell NEW tires,ART. within 40 hrs. after buying L3130 ['04 model] I found out that R4's don't get it. bought R1's. am selling the R4'4 and they better not be dry rotted! lol........
