I would think a 1,000 pounder with a couple of milli-second delay fuse would be easier, besides the debris would be so far away you wouldn't need to worry about.

A couple of jugs might be enough to convince them to make an 'accidental' release of a live one.

Certainly be less fussing about than Yooper's idea, 'course the neighbours might not agree with either method.

Rotella 5W-40 synthetic is good as well but I would wait until you have at least a 100 hours on the engine before switching to synthetic to ensure proper break in, although it is more than likely broken in at 50 hours. Your call on that, synthetics can sometimes slow the piston ring seating process.

Dennis, sorry, I was referring to the treadle pedal on the L series.

Art, why do I need brakes with the hydro? Well, for one thing I feel a lot more comfortable going down a steep hill with one foot ready to brake. Do I NEED that one foot on the brake? Maybe not, but I feel a lot more comfortable having it available. Also, on the Deere you need to press the brake pedal to engage the parking brake and a more accessible pedal makes that easier too. I will admit to never having needed turning brakes but maybe I would want them sometime in 2WD. In any case the turning brake issue is sort of psychological - if a tractor was designed with split brakes then they should be usable for turning brakes. If not it's sort of like putting a speed limiter on a car, nobody likes em even if they always drive 55.

The doors of my shop face almsot due south, probably south south-west. The doors are 12' x 12' wood and painted chocolate brown. Even with the furnace off I get enough heat gain on a sunny day to raise the inside temperature by 20 degrees above the outside readings.

Without seeing the tractor it is hard to make judgement calls. I don't think it should have needed a rebuild at 1100 hrs. if it was taken care of, likewise with the need for paint. The deck size is also small. Buying a larger MM deck will be difficult since they most always go with the tractor. It would be easier to get a rear mower. Then you need to consider ballast for the front. A 655 doesn't have allot of power either. What other uses do you have in mind. You can get a newer used JD or Cadet lawn mower with water cooled gasoline with 60" deck for about that price or a few dollars more that is real clean. For my kind of uses with loader, etc. I would rather have an 855 or 955.

These are retail prices so expect to get more around the $15,000 price range.

estimate about $2500 for the FEL
$500 for the forks
Brush hog depends on make and model anywhere from $300 to $1500 or more.
Scraper is the same but maybe $150 to $500.

These are VERY rough gestimates so you will have to look at the brands and costs and conditions and assign a price. Good luck!

The Mahindra tractors that I've seen are of the Mitsubishi design which were the older 7200/7300 Cub Cadets. In my area several branches of a large Deere dealer handle them. That's their answer to a less expensive unit. From what I've seen it is just a Cub-Cadet painted red. Dash and everything look the same. Love my 27HP Cub 7275.

Mahindra are they good review

tractor does not care how much acreage I have. When I move a couple yards of dirt for my wifes new garden or plow the snow on my driveway, again, my tractor never seems to question how big my lot is. Mrwurm

I also have an E154, and from what everyone says the manuals are all in Japanese. I putchased a parts manual though, because at least it has exploded views. it has helped on the one problem that i have with the tractor. Otherwise this unit does a hell of a job for its size.
