Beagle, the hydro is not a closed loop as when the oil goes thru the hydro it then returns to the base to be reused. The hydro when being towed does NOT have the ability to use the pump as that is on the hydro end of the rearend meaning the problem is NO lubrication or flow from the pump which is run from the engine.

Tom, we have one of those prefab metal fireplaces with a stainless steel stack enclosed in a wooden chimney (pic 2). It came with the house, I would have gone for brick. It seems to work pretty well and has glass doors and a fan to blow the heat into the house. You are just limited in the length of log you can burn in one of these.

I never heard of anyone cleaning a stack meant for oil. Sounds like the manufacturer is trying to protect itself.

Level ground or not, if you do end up getting FEL and put any kind of weight in it with nothing in the back and 2WD you will get stuck on the slightest of inclines or tear up places you don't want to tear up.
The BX is probably more than you will need on 9 acres. 22hp is a tough little machine and you can do a lot with it.

I got my BX 23 2 weeks ago yesterday.
I have moved several truck loads of dirt with it all ready.
I had been doing it all in 4wd.
Thought I'd try picking up a bucket of dirt using only the 2wd.Wanted to see it 4wd made any difference.
In 2wd the rear wheels will spin enough to tear up the ground.
In 4wd It has never spun a rear wheel.

New at this first time buyer needs advice

Although I haven't had to do it, I think generally it's just knocking out a freeze plug and replacing it with a heater, although some tractors have a threaded port for them. There is discussion in the archives but I don't know if any is about Cubs in particular.

I'd stick with factory parts but some people have had luck finding heaters of right diameter in auto stores at lower costs than factory parts. However, such a substitute has to be the right length as well. One that's too long may go against the interior water jacket. A substitute also should have similar wattage as a factory heater as well, although I think 250W is almost universal.

Beagle - I am a b7800 owner and am interested in installing a rear hydraulic (aka auxiliary hydraulic). I read in your post that you completed this task and was wondering if you could send me a picture of how you mounted the controller and the actual outlets. I am confused as to which lines to use coming from the hyd system and am a novice with this type of thing.

Also, I agree w/you on the 3 point operation. That is the thing that would make grading very nice but oh well it is still a very capable machine. Had a question for you about toe-in. I have not adjusted mine (or measured exact amount) but at first glance it appears excessive. Do you know the difference between the front of the tires vs. the rear of the tires??? I will measure mine and get back to you.

we mite have a set . One of our freinds sold a tractor for us and the customer did not want the dull kit , do not know what kind of shape the turf tires are but that last time I saw the dulls the hardware was all there.

A model number would help but like the others said you mite want to check some easy things.
what color is smoke ?
Is that battery termials clean & battery charged?
fuel systems does not have moisture?
Pto switch is off ? fuel shut of solniod is working?
We are a Kubota Engine Dealer We also work on alot of these type of equipment . The list above are our most common when someone has your problem ,a weak battery will not roll engine fast enough, but will make you think its Good . Another things If you have ran it out of fuel before this you could have a loose part on you fuel system ,which is very common. like the guys said there is very little chance that all of this happend at the same time .

I got a good price on Rotella synthetic and stocked up. It goes in the lawn mower, the Camry, the Tundra, the tractor, the RTV.... everything but the chainsaw, and I buy synthetic 2 cycle oil for that.

well thanks all for the tips. I am actually shocked at the tone at how serious YOU GUYS think this is now! lol At first I was all like the end of the world had arrived and then calmed down. Now I just think they deserve another shot at fixing her right and thought it was just a pain and that's all...

I never thought I should get a new machine or write any letters. At least not yet. I figure anyone can make a mistake once, and am quite calm about the issue now. But trust me, if she comes back again STILL leaking, the S*#T will fly!

Being a mechanic I have no problem ripping her apart in fact am dying to do so to see what it going on (plus she never has to leave my yard being used/abused by who knows who), but as we all know..this may be a bad idea if this comes to bigger problems with the dealer/Deere later and becomes an even bigger warranty issue.

Anyway you got me thinking...

Ahhh pine needles... man I hate those things :) I don't think pine needles are long enough to clog (get wrapped around) the tiller. I don't think it'd be any diff. than tilling leaves.

I'n certainly no expert on tillers... But I added 4 loads (53" loader bucket) of leaves/pine straw/wood chips to a 6' x 30' tulip bed I'm preparing, and the tiller obliterated the stuff. But again... I'm no expert. 10 miles and only 1 pass may produce diff. results? I'd think tree roots and vines may be an issue.

All plows are built different. There are some that when I walk up to them I measure the frame bolts and divide it in half and I have the width that the bottom cuts. More often then not the bulk of plows I measure the width from bottom to bottom of the cut they will take.

When you build such a piece you should remember that removeal from time to time is a neccesity. Every now and then a control lever might not work do to build up on the skidplate of debris.

You can use most any make hydraulic oil in that application. It's only been the last few years that the types of systems have changed enough to demand higher quality oils and additives to work.
