Thanks chief but I am looking for something to put on it while it is in the garage to keep the dust off. I usew old blankets now but wanted something a little neater.

Looking at your profile, I would assume you have block heaters on your equipment where possible? If not; these will make a huge difference in starts, and warm up times and are fairly easy to install.

Thanks Short, now off to do your trick with the logs, just knocked down 4 big oak trees for a neighbor to make way for a new bldg. am off to cut them into lengths for my firewood!

Paul, unless you or someone conclusively verified this; I seriously doubt that all the glow plugs and fuel injectors are bad.

First off, we could use a LOT more information about the symptoms you are encountering, such as will the engine turn over? If so, are you getting white smoke? Have your verified all of the safety switches and interlocks for proper function? Good fuel? Good fuel filter?

Start with the basics making sure you have a good battery and connections and work your way up.

Cap'n, why not just get some local sheet-metal shop to make you up a manifold and heat exchanger for the kerosene heater you already have?

It doesn't have to be perfect or pretty, just enough to enclose and trap most of the CO & smell and send it back outside.

Does your 3pt lift function at all? Many times if some contamination has passed the filter screen, it will land itself on the proportioning valve poppet and basically reduce the ability to close off when directed to. This valve is located beneath the seat frame, on right side as one sits on seat. Small matter to disassemble and clean out.

This should be a 'Be mindful' type warning to many. As we change our fluids, use a paint strainer or the like as we pour into the tractor's reservoir for refill. The first time I decided NOT to, I ended up with a boatload of small white plastic fragments from the five gallon pail in the system. Guess where it ended up...in and stuck on the 3pt proportioning valve poppets!

Kubotas insurance was 139 per year for my BX 23.
I added a ryder to my home owners policy instead for 80 bucks a year.
Coverage is on and off road.

Your post did not differentiate between a 'G' 5200 in which Chief commented about or the much larger utility size 'B' 5200 tractor. BIG differences between the two. I have B5200 tractors, and they are very capable of handling most any homeowner project and alot more, certainly with great ease of five acres. <br>

I cannot comment on the 'G' series, however the 'B' is equipped with a very efficient, powerhouse of only 13.5HP at engine, and will as Chief wrote, run all day. I have seen mine run for 15 hours on a single tank of fuel - no kidding! <br>

The 'B's were manufactured from 1983 thru 1995. Check out my pics...to see if we are talking about the same tractor...the 'B'5200.<br>

Dennoace - I've been exactly were you are & have done what cheif is advising. It basically got me a meeting with Bob Mills (Rep from Deere Corp.) & my dealer. I truely hope deere does better by you then they did me!! If not, You'll probably end up trading in for Kubota like I did, & I might add that I am now very happy I did. Ya never know, Ya might think the grass is Oranger on the other side, I did.

I think a wider front track may push the front axle lead ratio a bit during turns while in 4wd. I haven't thought it through and it may not be important even if true.

Most hydraulics leak-down some, and it's not much of a problem unless it's enough to become an aggravation during operation. It sounds like an empty bucket uncurls overnight. It could be a problem but it might result from the larger bucket plus tooth bar. It might also be within normal manufacturing tolerances. It's a good question for your dealer.

Will the model #74 front power blade fit my JD 4210? One brochure I have says it will. But another doesn't list one for this tractor. A buddy of mine knows where a used one is for sale. It's a 54" blade. If they will fit a 4310 why not a 4210?

I've about decided to go with the 3130 4wd. I don't need the bucket right now because my dad lives next door and his JD has one on it. I've got a bush hog already so I don't have to buy one. I think I'm going to go ahead and invest in a tiller. I already have a Kubota ZD28 mower that I purchased new about 6 months ago and I love the performance. Kubota is great!

DennoAce, you are incorrect about the block heater "cooking" the oil. Nothing could be further from the truth. The block heater is threaded in place of one of the coolant jacket plugs and heats the engine coolant. The block heater will heat the entire engine gradually and I doubt a 750 watt heating element can get the temperature of an entire diesel engine block much above typical engine operating temperature if that high. The oil remains in the oil pan and may be warmed indirectly by the heat tranfered from the engine block but not to a great degree and certainly not much hotter than warm to the touch.
