The TC35a, will be just fine with the HP. I'm doing what you are with my JD790, a bit smaller than what you're looking at.

The top- and tilt is hydraulic cylinder on the three point hitch, and the help you adjust the height and angles of the implement.

Do a search in the archives {Message Contains: Top and Tilt}, there�s a bunch out there.

When you price it out add the top and tilt, or at least the rear remote hydraulic ports, if you want any implements later on that need auxiliary hydraulics. If your going to finance its nice to burry the extras now.

Have you and the dealer talked any prices yet?

Traction is really only developed by the edge of a lug catching against something. It therefore folows that the more edges there are, the more traction you will have. In winter there is one more factor that enters the equation, cold, the harder rubber of a R4 gets stiffer still, meaning even less traction. A turf tire though has very soft rubber and develops outstanding traction on a hard surface, asphalt, concrete, frozen dirt, gravel, hard-packed snow, even ice itself.

We plowed commercially for years with the whole fleet sitting on turf's, no chains, ever, only studs occaisionally, we could easily out push or pull a set of R4's or R1's.

Remember, in the vast majority of the time the tires are running on ground that has already been cleared, it doesn't matter how much snow there is, it only matters how much snow is UNDER the tire.

Your overflowing comments could be part of the probem. You need empty space in the case for the return line to work properly. If you found a dipstick, make sure the case isn't full past the full mark, assuring the case has the proper breathing room for the return. Overflowing could lead to pressure lock in the system.

Murf, that would be a site to see!! I thought my dog was psychotic about killing rodents. Geez. Course, she almost got the neightbors cat. The cat never came back after that incident. Maybe I should get a Jack Russell... But I already have to hook up the loader on the 4310 and go around this weekend and fill in the potholes the dog has dug going after gophers. I don't know what I'd do with two dogs that do that.

My other dog is a black lab. He's not the brightest student on the special bus. He killed a rock once. That rock wasn't going anywhere. He guarded that rock for at least 30 minutes just in case it moved again.

The old fords did have a change in the numbers and that is what gave them the different tractors. The 611 was a sleecto speed transmission, the 631 had a transmission driven pto, 661 had a five speed transmission and live PTO. The last two numbers in your model tells you how it was equipped.

He doesnt listen very well. I told him to do a handstand and he went back behind the sofa and urinated. I didnt want to see that again so I told him to turn the light out and he simply ran in circles like a chicken with its head cut off.

Normally all hoe equipped tractors have a loader. The bucket should be on the ground to prevent the tractor from pivoting around its front axle. Many hoes are capable of lifting the rear and unloading the stabilizers. The bucket is usually dug in to keep a hoe from dragging the tractor into the hole (or sliding into it if an excavation wall collapses).

I tend to adjust the bucket angle more than the boom when pulling back the stick but normally use both. It all becomes clear with a bit of practice. The hoe probably has a float position on the boom valve. Float can be useful in smoothing trench bottoms.

A worn detent ball in the shifting linkage can create some 'locking' between gears. Excessive pedal free play at the top can cause the clutch to drag even when the pedal is fully depressed, which can cause hard shifting. The PTO shafts on some tractor 'free wheel' a bit--they turn some but aren't powered. Somebody who knows the tractor may be able to say if it's normal.

It could be various things. If it cycles up and down at fairly regular intervals, a leaky poppet valve or improper 3ph linkage adjustment seems a good guess. If the surge or cycling goes away when the flow control valve is turned off then the poppet valve or adjustment is likely the problem. Replacing and adjusting a poppet valve isn't too difficult on most tractors but having a repair manual is a good idea.

A sticking system pressure relief valve can create surges but only during lifts. The valve likely is located in a manifold block on the side of the engine. A pressure gauge and manual procedure is needed for repair and adjustment. A faulty safety relief valve in the 3ph can create drops during lifts.

My NH dealer told me none of their smaller tractors would accept a backhoe without modifications including adding frame supports (and removing MMM in the process). They're just not set up for the task.

In my opinion, over time you do run a risk of bending your tractor's frame. If it were me, I'd get the NH underframe supports added... or if it's just a one-time thing I'd just rent a regular backhoe.

When you are talking about the "big three" , New Holland's compacts give you a choice of colors and dealers. Case sells the same machines with red paint and a differet hood from their dealerships. I asked the case dealer if NH made them for case and he said "no, NH doesn't make them either, they are Japanese" He did not know the exact name of the company, possibly Shibaru. So if you like NH machines you can get a red one or maybe find a closer or better dealer to work with.

Cherymax; No offense taken about the Land Pride tillers. I now understand your needs for a tiller are entirely different from mine. My need is to tear up soil for landscape reasons in a hurry, yours to create a fine seed bed for flowers. I've mostly parked it for the season and went back to the box scraper being the soil is super dry right now. Even with a machine that big, rocks as small as a golf ball make it jump and bang all over the place since the dry soil has no give to it. Frank.

I had never heard of endophytes before reading your post, so naturally I was curious. A good link I found explained them (link at bottom). Sorry for the stupid question but I'm not clear on why it matters if your lawn borders a pasture?

slbroug, my experience with CRs ratings have been spotty at best. I've bought a few top rated items that have sucked big time and after my last experience gave up on them. I agree that Toyota's generally are decent, but I'd probably not buy another. I still don't think hybrids are a long term solution though. The complexity is just too expensive to produce profitably IMHO, but if they help the manufacturer meet CAFE standards they can make up for it in their product mix with bigger, faster, more powerful, and more profitable vehicles.
