Yes! you remember correctly, but what you probably don't remember is TIMING is everything when working with cement!
I pourd 6&1/2 yds. in this project and it about whiped my butt!! I had a little 130# woman helping me and it was about all we could do to pour it, screed it and then power trowel (fan blade thingy) it!!! I barely got it finished in time and was still able to broom the aprons!!

I had the opportunity to drive my Uncle's Primus (I think an 03 model) while on vacation. I have to admit it was an interesting little car. Great for 1 or 2 persons (like most of us drive most of the time), not overly peppy but not too bad either. I may think about one in a few years if they are still around as a weekday commuter vehicle. I still need a truck on weekends and for towing.

I don't think they are playing with physics too much here either. The main savings in town driving come from shutting off the engine when you aren't moving. I have a GPS mounted in my car and often look at how much time in a short trip is spent "Stopped" vs "Moving". It's a good indicator of what is killing the city mileage. They do gain a few points by recovering energy with the regenerative braking, but I wonder how much that actually saves. I think the Toyota system uses the main motor for braking not something in each wheel. If so, since it's already there as a motor why not also use it as a generator.

If a different design requires extra components, I wonder if its really worth the extra complexity.

The extra highway mileage seems to come from having a very small engine with enough power to keep the mass moving. It uses the electric motor to help the gas engine accelerate. Like the previously posted specs indicate, with both the motor and gas engine working together, it has very decent torque.

I'm really waiting for a reasonably priced 4x4 truck. If they can get a truck up from the 15-18 mpg range into the 30-35 mpg range with hybrid technology, and keep the price reasonable, I think they will sell quite a few. If it wasn't for towing concerns I'd buy one. I bet it would handle a little utility trailer any way. Just not a 3500# tractor on a car hauler.

In the SUV market, I wouldn't be suprised to see that diesel/hybrid combo show up. If they throw in the ability to access the generator with some 120 volt and 240 volt outlets like I've seen info on, I think it would make a great contractor truck. A few people in rural areas may be interested as well.

I can't comment about your exact package, but I paid: $9227 for the tractor, $1556 for the 62" MMM (WHICH I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND DUE TO THE OVERLAP), an $2163 for the FEl w/53" bucket, rear ballast, and leveling indicator (all of which I would recommend). I also purchased the front hitch with PTo for my snowblower, but those $ won't help you any.

The 2210 is an awesome package for a "gentleman" farmer. Please don't aske me to explain that last comment.

I have a 2000 New Holland TC35D. The 3 Pt hitch surges when tractor is running and drops when tractor is shut off. It seems to seep down a bit at full lift as well. I think the problem may be with the pressure adjustment to the hitch??<br>
Can anyone tell me if this sounds right and if so, how and where do I adjust the settings.<br>

Your best bet is to head on over to ytmag.com and post questions on the Ford forum.
The 600 and 800 series Fords were made in the mid fifties to sixties. The 640 is listed at 28 hp. I don't know much more about it other than they were made from '54-'57. It is likely a big brother to the 8N.
The general rule for a "running when parked" cosmetically rough tractor is you'll lose money on it even if it is given to you...IF you are trying to fix it up to look nice, run smooth, not smoke, etc. Just a couple of tires, an engine rebuild, a clutch and some transmission work (not to mention paint and bodywork) and you'll have more in it than what you could buy a decent-looking work tractor for.
Price range: $1500 for a complete but rough work tractor in usable condition, to $3000 and up for a restored one.

If "gophers are satan's minions" I guarantee, a Jack Russell terrier (terror?) will "put the fear of God in them".

My little fellow can, and has, much to my wife's dismay, run down a wild hare before it can make it to cover.

They have a particular instinctive hatred for rodents though, he runs so fast after a squirell that when he gets to the tree he follows it right up, several 'red rodents' have met their end when they went only a short distance up a tree and stopped to turn around to chatter at him. Getting down is another story.

Sounds to me like the clutch may be sticking or is out of adjustment. Another possibility is a broke pressure plate release pivot bolt. A friend had a similar problem with his International 424 and was able to replace the bolt without splitting the tractor by rotating the broken bolt to the bottom of the bellhousing.

lbrown59, I only have about 5 hrs on my new BX23 bh and I can definetly identify with your situation. What I found to be a bit perplexing is co-ordinating the dipstick and boom when digging a trench. To keep the trench flat you have to move both at the same time as you pull the bucket back to the tractor. I also made the early mistake of extending out too far and ending up pulling the tractor towards the trench. I underestimated the power of the bh. I had to start in ground that is abouut 50% rock. If you can find soft dirt it would help. Rocks take some experience to remove. You just never know how big they are and can waste a lot of time digging around a 3 ft round boulder. Some have said it is good practice, if you can get close to a pond or stream, to practice dipping and trying to move a bucket full of water without spilling it. This improves your smoothness and effeciency. I can clearly see it takes practice, practice, practice...

There are a couple tricks we use for stuck shafts. Dry ice on the end of the pin will shrink the pin maybe to the point where it will free up. The other option is to heat the ball to expand the ball and loosen it from the pin. If you are going to use heat, make sure you don't heat the ball past 600 degrees. Over 600 degrees, you can start to change the properties of the steel. If you use a propane torch, you should be safe. We prefer the dry ice trick, and it seems to work most of the time to free shafts from bearings. Good luck

On my old tractor I had turfs and chains were definitely required especially on wet compacted snow and ice. On my new machine I have R-4's and bought chains for it but was too lazy to put them on last year. It went through just about everything without the chains. I agree with pete though, it depends on the size of the machine. The smaller the machine, the more need for chains.

Duc, no offense taken! My apologies to you for assuming there were no conservatives down south. I went to SUNY at Stony Brook on LI so I have had the benefits of both parts of the state. I didn't know this thread would turn into a discussion of the disadvantages of New York State.

In defense of New York, I believe we have the optimal mix of weather (all 4 seasons and no typhoons) - a good educational system - within striking distance of great mountains and oceans - and to the city for those who like night life. I have 2 pistol permits and had no trouble obtaining them. There are lots of places to work but it is true that the taxes are high.

The water line is to the greenhouse from the well. The original owner laid a garden hose connected to pvc piping just under the service and of course it the hose has rotted and the PVC is broken. So I wanted to replace it. It will not be used in the winter. Not sure of the code here in NC. Will have to check and since I am going to do it I might as well do it right the first time.

Would a scraper blade and plow work for the job

I just ordered my power beyond kit for my JD790. We went in circles for a bit, because JD Parts said that the part was obsolete.

I had ordered it from Ricky since he helped me find it.

When I the Rear Hydo Kit, the manual said it was for 660/770, I think, and it fit the 790 like a charm. So my guess is some of the parts are backward compatible.

Hinomoto E224 w/loader, less than 3hrs on the clock, mowed for 30 minutes, 3pt O.K., then nothing. No up or down, 3pt seems to "tense up when I pull the lever" but doesnt lift. Any ideas? How do I check the hydraulic fluid, screens & filters? Also - where can I get a manual for this tractor?<br>
