Is a model 5200 a decent tractor for 5 acres?

Most truck accessory stores will sell and mount the brake controller for about $125.00 to $150.00. I usually go with whatever brand of contoller the store sells since they usually migrate to the one that gives them the least after the sale problems since they have to handle warranty issues. They can do this while you wait after you set your appointment.

Jon, think of 'draft control' as a form of 'auto-pilot' for the 3pth, you set it to a particular point and the draft control maintains it there.

In ag. use the draft control would be used to, for instance, keep a plow from digging in too far and stopping the tractor. Instead when the load got too great it would automatically raise the 3pth, and the plow with it. The system uses a sensing mechanism connected to the upper link of the 3pth, when you push or pull against the upper link it moves a valve that remotely operates the two lift arms that the implement hangs off.

I'm not sure that you could get the draft control sensitive enough to do what you want but it theory it should, you might need to work at a slower speed to allow it sufficient reaction time that's all.

BTW, draft also means pull, or work, as in draft horses.

Why is it another dealers work. If you are a New Holland dealer why aren't you standing behind the product that you sell, regardless of where it was purchase. The warranty is a NEW HOLLAND warranty not a dealer warranty. All warranty work is a loss weather it a car, truck or tractor. What if you moved since you bought your tractor boy you would be screwed. Is this common with the other manufactors you certainly wouldn't get away with this with a car.

To kwschumm, TomG, Wildman1: Thanks guys! You were right on. One of the quick couplers actually had a broken "stem" on the female side, which damaged the opposite "stem" on the male hydraulic (hose) fitting. Getting replacements now. The advice was great!

The hydro on the RTV is in a class of it's own. It actually uses two pumps to accomplish the higher groound speeds instead of just one like what we are used to. The basic rearend is 2710-2910 which is a well proven design. Kubota might improve on there already well tested design to fine tune them but there have been no problems with the machines that we have sold. Kubota has not been a company that leaves the customers to be the guinea-pigs to do there testing for them. They have introduced some very limited market items that do to low demand that didn't take in the market but they were still built at the same level of product integerity as the rest of the line.

Thanks for the explanation. Seems similar to not opening the barn door before trying to pull the tractor in, then pissing and moaning about what a p.o.s. the barn door is.

ok - Spraying round up would be good first. Waite the 2 weeks then till. I personally would only till 2 inches. Then I would call a company that delives topsoil. Order 100 yards per 30,000 sq. ft. of area your seeding. I dont talk in acreage measurements, I talk in sq footage. a typical acre is 44,000. When the topsoil arives, Scoop it up it your loader & spread it around with your bucket. Shake your loader joystick left to right so shake the soil out as you drop it. Once the entire area is covered it will be covered unevenly mostlikely unless your a pro, This is where your box blade will come into play. Grade is how you desire your topograghy to be. Once you have it all smooth & even, Then apply your seed. If this tends to be a rainy time of yea for you then I would recommend raking in the seed with either a chainlink fence section pulled behind your kubota or a pallet. Once this is done, Apply starter fertilizer. Then apply straw or salt hay. I use straw because it is less expensive. Do not skip the straw process. It is a very important step. I see homeowners skip that all the time & then the wonder why it's such a thin lawn. This is a lot of work & i totally understand what murf is saying however overseeding & topdressing could take you a few years to achieve a nice lawn unless you topdress the entire lawn with 6" of topsoil & start from there. Lawyers? There are some excellent lawyers out there, however, a few bad ones have given the whole profession a bad name. I am an engineer and engineers and lawyers mix about like water and oil. I am more than capable of handling the legal issues I deal with, but no, I have to wait on the attorney before proceeding.

The lawyers have set themselves up to control most everything(along with HR), and it all began because a few bad apples take frivolous law suites(i.e. the hot coffee suite) and sometimes win. Therefore everybody has to protect themselves by the legal(here again by lawyers) hold harmless wording. Additionally, a lot of the politicians on the state and federal levels hold law degrees.

I personally know a few good attorneys, and I feel for them because generally, all attorneys have received a negative rap. Sorry about the soap box but a nerve was hit and it could so easily be corrected if it wasn't for the attorneys.

Murf, back to the main issue, how do you rate the Rhino products. I am looking at a Rhino 300 model rear blade, from their web site it appears to be a quality product.

Congrats on the new 2210. I've had mine since last August and turned 208 hours on her today. She has performed well beyond my expectations and has never failed or broken. She still doesn't fail to amaze me on what she can do. Such a little tractor does such amazing things.

Oh, I've borrowed my nieghbor's Cat 416 W/backhoe to jerk some stumps..cos' it was available.

I've had a few trauma's..like dropping 2 logs off the backside of the FEL and denting the hood..and jamming a root into the grill...and almost rolling her last week with a half bucket of dirt on a shallow incline and then rolling up on a large rock. Tractors live in hostile situations..dents are battle scars.

There's so many unforetold uses that have come up. Like loading the bucket with the wife's groceries and hauling them up to the front door. Loading the 55g drum with the bucket forks and loading it into the pickup..ripping a new garden with the subsoiler...ect..

I think that the greatest wedding gift a guy could receive is a tractor....sooner or later...he'll REALLY need it!!

Beagle: Good counterpoint. Hadn't considered the difference between the 4 point hook-up on the B/H and the 3 point for the bale spear.

Anyway, the tires are like having a canary in a coal mine. If they are inflated to the max sidewall pressure and they start to go sorta flat..... don't lift more than that.

BTW, I also had to use the barbell in the FEL trick when I pulled the chain harrow to groom the driveway. It is the smallest chain harrow made and advertised as suitable for use with ATV's, but it pulled the BX's front end off the ground enough to lose some steering control.

If you are replaceing your blades try to find "Gator Blades" I have them on my 4310 w/72" mmm and my LX188
they cut&chop up the grass better than factory blades.
I get mine from the local JD dealer.

Lasic surgery. It has worked amazingly for my wife. I have 20/20 and now her vision is better than mine. No fog, forgotten, broken, lost, contacts, etc. It may require two surgeries if it is just the effects of aging you want to correct, thats what they told me I may need when age catches me.

I have seen them available on e-bay for about $210. A New Holland dealer in northern Michigan carried them in stock for about the same price. Intergrated Engineering has top and tilt kits available, I believe they do have just the side links also. You might also check Best-Used-Tractors. I know they have 3-point equipment.

I built my own from cylinders I ordered through Surpluscenter. The fabrication of the end clevis' was a little tricky, but if your in the mood, it's a good 4 hour project. You will need to make sure the SCV for the rear remotes has load checks, or add a check valve to the cylinder. Check valves eliminate drifting of the cylinder with the SCV in the nuetral postion.
