Chief before I used the heating oil I called the dealer twice and ask if it was ok both times he said it was. I will inquire again.

The hydraulic steering on my 1998 400A quit yesterday. All other hydraulics are working perfectly well (both the front loader and the three point), reservoir is full oil as well. The steering wheel will not budge either to the left or right. This happened once before, momentarily, then worked fine after that. This time it appears that it will not fix itself. Unfortunately, the operator's manual is fairly concise on the other hydraulic parts, but not the steering in particular. Any ideas? Thank you in advance for your help and advice. - Chris

Jon, ulike a tiller, the teeth on a 'power rake' are only an inch or two long.

The roller on which they are mounted is like a pipe that runs flat against the ground as it turns. Any stones or debris that get hit by the teeth are lifted up and forwards, it cannot get back under the roller, the teeth would bring it up again. In operation the whole thing is usually angled to one side or the other, as a result the debris just keeps moving along till it falls out the side.

I had a RHINO tractor for about 4 years it is all so made in China it had some problems like oil leaks it was built very good tho. I traded it back to the dealer that I bought it off of and bought a HURLIMANN it has been a great tractor it did cost a bit more than the other. I would buy the Japanese tractor they are more proven to last and parts would be a bit easyer to get .

1*A �full size Ford tractor� with FEL, is not a SubCUT (BX2230).

2*Having used a 16hp Cub Cadet garden tractor with a blade and a JD2210 with a FEL to move snow. I would choose a blade over a FEL.

So you're saying with it filled I could do wheelies around the neighborhood? That would be kinda cool.

But seriously- the one TSC is selling is smaller. I guess that's still too much weight?

I just don't want yet another gas-powered engine lying around to break. I have a curse which makes any gas-powered tool refuse to ever start again the moment the warranty is up.

If it's a recommended procedure for the 2210, you should be fine, but the track width could make a difference when in 4wd. Make sure that the extended width is accomodated for in the differential ratings in 4wd. Not that familiar with all the specs on the 2210, but this would be worth checking out with your dealer.

I would think that breaking up the slag with a box blade ripper teeth and then scrapping it up into a pile to move with the FEL woud be the most direct approach.

Could I break up the slag with the hoe or is that a bad idea?
I have a fairly large dip where the drive meets the highway.
Thought I would just dump the hoe loads in there and sorta kill 2 birds with one stone so to speak.

Heat houser is a term I haven't heard in many years.

It was the down'n'dirty alternative to a cab for those who used construction machines or tractors in the winter.

It is basically a tarpaulin that closes off the sides (and usually bottom too) of the engine compartment and then widens out around the operators station. Many of them featured see-through front and side curtains also. The whole affair does two things, keeps the motor, etc., warmer by tunneling the warm air from the radiator the whole length of the drivetrain, and keeps the operator warm by directing a good portion of the airflow off the radiator past them.

I can remember using several of our tractors equipped with them in the winter, unless the wind was really blowing it kept you quite comfortable.

Dan, our family has bred & trained heavy horses, Belgians, for MANY generations, and we have several show wagons.

Regardless of how careful you are a wagon leads a rough life, there will always be rain and dirt to contend with. Any coating you put on it will be badly scratched and scuffed after the FIRST parade, you might as well accept that fact and plan for it.

Most of our floors are painted with acrylic enamel, the stuff genrically called 'porch paint' it is as tough as tough gets. It can either be applied in the usual grey or tinted almost any darker colour. We generally use black, mostly because it looks nice against the clear coated wood trim and the brass.

Cherymax, I agree that all my statements might not apply in your case. Just some principles that come to mind - I get heated up whenever these discussions come up because I have had to defend my land on 3 occasions. None of these were situations I initiated. As often in residential areas where boundaries are clearly defined as in mountain land!<br>

In your case I would think there are few options since this guy (supposedly) has a legal easement. Also I doubt that you will recover any legal costs and you will spend more than $1000 on this.<br>

Questions I have:<br>
1) Why can't you totally hide the easement with trees or bushes - maybe place them on a berm? How large are the trees you've planted? Its hard for me to believe you can't hide such a narrow piece of ground from your view. I recently transplanted 20 large burning bushes to hide a portion of a road - worked instantly, even from a high vantage point.<br>

2) Since you have a tractor how much work would it take to fix the 600' of easement that he uses alone? Wouldn't you be able to swing a box blade through there a couple of times a year and clean it up? Yes, you would incur some cost but how much cost and effort would that be? It would also let the other guy know that if he doesn't maintain the easement you will maintain it the way you want to. You own the property. <br>

Take the money you are going to lose (thousands) on legal options and instead use it to improve your property. Fill, tractor attachments, privacy screening, or whatever. What if you have to go through the same situation with another owner someday?
