I have a HST and operate it commercially, and to say GST is for more aggressive and experienced operators, I would have to disagree. I know of atleast 6 people who have sold FST, GST type tractors and stepped into JD, NH or Kubota HST's. I agree with Art, in the right range with the right RPM, it's tough to beat.

Jon; I'm not real familliar with your growing season there but in Iowa the ideal time to start new grass from seed is early Sept.. So I would guess that your growing season is probably a month or so longer than ours here, so I think that if you sprayed the roundup now, gave it three weeks to fully kill the root systems of the existing sod and weeds that your temps probably start to ease off from the summer highs to give the grass seed a good start before winter. Trying to hurry roundup is sorta defeating the whole idea of the product, you need to give it time to fully kill all the root system, the higher the temperatures the faster it works. After rereading your original post I noted that you do have a seeder, so perhaps you allready have everything you'll need to do the job. Again, best of luck. Frank.

Well, thanks all for the words. I know it's not the end of the world but it is the point and I had to vent. I have no problem with JD using it's name to market items to help the bottom line, but you must see my point that it all started with (well-built) tractors, and it seems sad to me that this good name is being over-used on all kinds of junk as have many other good names and it will all come to a bad end, trust me. In my area (Maine), all I hear is ads for Kubota, Kioti and NH and Deere seems to be losing the battle. I don't want this to happen. JD needs to wake up or it will be too late...I know of what I speak.

Being involved mechanically in many different machines from forklifts to golf course machines up to everything including excavators way bigger than Deere even makes, I have a small clue what is to be expected and yes... I know **it happens and that is fine but it just isn't right.

No I haven't called my dealer yet and....again....they didn't MAKE the machine and even if they fixed it (which I am perfectly capable of doing, and probably with less hassles overall and about $4 worth of permatex)...the point once again is that I shouldn't have to go through the BS after spending $12k on a tractor that I thought was more money spent on a better-built machine?

Just to make things more positive, I still love my 4110 in every other way...just not as happy as I once was and again, I am leary of what the next 1000 hours will bring, based on the first (!!!) 25!!!

Never had occasion to take one apart but I'll take a shot. By cylinder head I wonder if you're referring to what my diagrams call the shaft-guide? It is a slug that threads into the cylinder body that the shaft runs through.

I imagine a part like a shaft-guide would have a retaining ring as Oneace says. Look for two metal 'ears' with holes in them that lay flat on the guide around the outside. You'd need retaining ring pliers. Also look for two shallow holes 180-degrees apart. If present, there are special wrenches for such things.

If you unscrew the Kubota link with the little phillips screws removed from the body, you can see where they used a punch to interrupt the threads to keep it from unscrewing.<br>

A one dollar triangular needle file can be inserted into the hole so that it rests against the threads while the threaded portion is turned. This will clean up the punch crater and allow the thing to come apart.<br>

Then you need to remove 2 inches from the center of the body, weld it back up. Then cut 1 inch from each male thread. Use the same needle file to clean up after the hacksaw and reassemble.

Set your parking brake. Put the tractor in gear and slowly release the clutch. Listen for engine noise or if it stalls. Also take notice to how far out the clutch pedal is when the engine starts to die down.

DO you now if you have a two stage clutch? In other words if running an implement and you push the clutch half way the tractor stop but the implement continues to operate until you push it the entire way down. If so you may need a simple clutch adjustment which can some times be done on site by your dealer.

Murf, I doubt you could rig up a hydraulic top link on a BX1500...........but more to the point: I had a 60 inch Rankin rear blade when I had my BX22.

It was a bad match. That blade is a Cat 1-2 size. I had to reverse the pins and there was just barely enough lift height to get it off the ground even with my 2 inch shorter than stock top link. The 1500 is even closer to the ground with it's smaller tires.

I would strongly recommend you get something that is a true cat 1 size and no larger. The 60 inch width isn't the problem, it's the stature of the implement.

We routinely put Bush Hog SQ60 which is a heavy duty 5' mower behind TC33 and 29 which are the same as the 1925 with no problems.

Yes I did forget XNA airport I picked up some folks 3 years ago today and the trip to and from there hits every cow pasture in 3 counties ... so I normally just get on the interstate and spend my 1&1/2 hours at 70 MPH. It normally is cheaper to fly into XNA on puddle jumpers than The main jet routes out of Tulsa!! Just Habit for me to go to Tulsa actual time Driving is close for all 3.

Land is not cheap anywhere and basically unavailable here on the lake!! price is no longer the object, just trying to find lakefront is!

I'm in the book stop by next time you pass through our place!

I have to revise my statement. i DO NOT rely on the built in firewall. I use Norton's. Though it does annoy the hell out of me with all the continuous pop ups.

I have built my system from the ground up. And to my experience through trial and error the most expensive is not all ways the best. For instance I run an Athalon XP processor which I have Had better luck with then my previous Pent. 4. I also run a very cheap either net (lan card) with no problems. I have a 160 gig hard drive which I will never fill. The only thing I wish I would have done differently is better ram. i am only running 256 MB But that will change very soon with dual 512 MB sddr cards. My monitor is still the weak point (it is 10 years old)

Unless your main use for you PC is gaming you do not need a high dollar graphics card or sound card.

Are any of you running a Xenon processor? How are they?

One other piece of advice I have is if you open up you case do it on a non carpeted surface and ground your self out to some thing metal first. To me my computer is like a drug I am always looking to make it better faster and more aesthetically pleasing. I have a bad compu addiction and I am still very much a novice.

Oh I was not wound up. Stick around and you will see when I get really upset. We try to be as light hearted as possible in here. Most things that seem harsh or nasty are usually meant to be humorous or sarcastic.

Here is my two cents.

I have seen this sort of thing on small motors so I think it may pertain. When the air fuel ration is off, the motor will leans out. The governor tries to compensate by either open or closing the throttle, which in turn causes the motor to surge. Either the fuel filter is plugged or the carburetor mixture screws need to be adjusted.
