My 1976 L175 requires the glow plugs on a 95 degree day and a 30 degree day. It won't start without 30 seconds of preheat period. Once it has been running, it will start up until a couple of hours later without preheating unless it's cold out.

My bx2200 on the other hand seems to be dumping fuel in while the key is on and the glow plug selector is engauged. This starts with no glow plug prewarm in the summer. I just got it and haven't used it in the winter but the book says only a few seconds is enough.

Just curious if anyone else finds it odd that the bx series ( I have a bx2200) doesn't have a tach but it has 2 PTO's?<br>

How are you supposed to judge you are at the correct RPM for the 540 rear or mid PTO? I have the books and they make no mention of it.<br>

I've been running the machine wide open when doing heavy loader work or running a rear 3 point finish mower and lower it down a bit for mild/ normal operation of spreading mulch or light rake work.<br>

Just kind of strange as they cut no corners making these great machines they didn't put a tach on it. My Scag mower with a 14 hp Kawasaki has a tach but my Kubota doesn't.

I'm no round bale expert but did a little research. They generally weigh up to 1600 lbs, but when wet can weigh a lot more. Anyway, it seems the ability to carry those around is an important factor in what size machine you need. I'd guess something that could lift 2500 lbs. 24" behind the pins would be adequate. Plenty of front ballast would be required. Maybe somebody with round bale experience can chime in here.

Having some well problems again after replacing the pump and alot of the pipe only 18 months ago. Last time the the water was so corrosive it rotted out some of the pipe between the pump and my acid neutralizer. Not sure if it is the same problem this time.<br>

The well guy said there have been alot of instances of lightning burnout for wells and that it could be covered under my home owners policy if it turns out that way.<br>

I was wondering if any one has any experience with an alternative to the regular steel pipe I have in my well. Unfortunately I have alot of it, 460 feet. So price could easily be a factor.<br>

Not having water is not much fun, sometimes I feel like I ought to drill another well as I only have 7 gallons a minute anyway.<br>

BMeyer, If you are not running with heavy loads on the back end, you can get by very nicely with 8-10 psi in those tires.

I wish mine had more power too. I am hoping after it breaks in it will run a little stronger.

The problem in sand is mostly the tires. All of the tire options, except the turf tire, are designed to operate in mud. As with tractors, what is ideal for mud is terrible on soft sand.

After several comparative tests on the same stretch of ground, I replaced the HDWP tires on my RTV with some small car radial tires.

It doesn't make a tracked vehicle out of it, but it will go twice as far up my sand dune test slope before digging in and stopping.

I have been using a rear mount blower on my 2300' gravel driveway in west central Wisconsin for 8 years and am switching to front mount to save my next anymore wear and tear. I'd think hard about a front mount :-).

When you use a blade to clear a drive you get hard pack banks. In my case the hard pack banks leads to water not running off and refreezing on the the drive.

I always curse if I am out of town and my wife has to get a plow as I have to deal with those ^%^^%^&^$*&$^ banks for hours and hours. Nothing does a cleaner job than a blower and does the least damage to the lawn at your driveways edge.

BX for snow removal use your FEL or a blower

Ok, I think I've got it. There _is_ a plug on the side - about 1/3 from the bottom near the 'squealing pig'. It is an allen screw and as I loosened it oil started coming out so I think there's plenty. The plug on the top must be for filling - I can't imagine trying to get oil in this thing from the side ;)

Anyhow, mystery solved. Thanks all!

equus makes a code reader for 97 and newer. It comes with plug in and instructions. I found it by searching code readers. It cost about 200cdn

Thanx to rollinns {Lee} for the reply on my JD 430. I

found out the problem was the fuel pump. I replaced the pump, then bled the sytem and it still wouldn't start, so i knew i was over my head. My locate dealer got it from there and found the injector pump, lines and injectors needed work. Thanx again.

You did not specify a year model or whether or not it was 4WD. Guessing a 1994 model with 4WD; Machinery Link lists its value as:

Premium $8,877

Good $8,296

Fair $7,616

Approx. Retail Price New:
$13,600

figure an estimated $1500 more the the FEL & MMM. I would consider a fair offering price for the tractor to a private sell to be around $7500 to $8000. Depending upon condition and maintenance backgroudn, vary the price. For a dealer price that is not that unreasonable a price but far more than I think the machine is actually worth. If you buy from a dealer expect to pay a higher price.
