Im fairly new and inexperienced on tractor boards myself but Ive been a member of other message boards for some time. Not to sound like Im defending anyone because I dont know what particular person or event you are referring to, but, in general I think a person needs to be a little more forgiving and rude tolerant on these boards than in person. The written word sometimes comes off harsher than the spoken word.
I belong to a couple off-roading forums and have met several people from them. These are people that I thought to be rude online but in person turned out to be pleasant.
You will always have a few internet blowhards that when confronted face to face will be much quieter but I think the majority are nice people that come off as rude in writing only because they cant be as expressive as they would be in person.
In general what Im saying is dont be to critical or sensative and remember that you probably appear harsher than you intend to also.

This is what I did in my garage, before pouring my slab I
bought a "septic tank riser". This is a cylinder approx.
24" in dia. x 36" high used to extend your access to a septic tank. or "Murf's barrel". I prefered the concrete
because of it's two in. thickness to support the cover
and it's compatible with the cement floor holding it in.
Dug a hole for it and set it 2" below grade for drainage.
I put my exit pipe about 6" down from the TOP as to create
a sand trap,"winter road sand on tires" for all you flatlanders. When I poured my floor I put some in the bottom
and finished the floor up to the edge.Had a 3/8 steel plate
cut and drilled,3/4 in. holes for "kids fingers" and heavy
enough so they can't lift it.
In the winter I dump a gallon of RV non-toxic anti-freeze
in to keep it from freezing.
As far as a pit outside,I just let it go on top of the
ground where it exits the grade away from the house.
If you had a lot of water, I would dig a "dry well"
An open pit filled with rocks. This would really depend on your site?

Two quick questions...
#1 My Deere 4410 at this point has turf tires. There is a 4310 with close to same hours with R4 tires at my dealer and he said that we could work out a swap possibly if I wanted those. If I want to push snow, grade our quarter mile driveway, use a tiller, pull hay wagons, etc....how do the turfs work? They leave my yard looking great but do leave some concerns with using the tractor for all the other reasons I bought it for. Do R4's tear-up grass while turning, starting, or braking? I want flexibility but a nice yard...will I have to pick between the two?
#2 Just curious also if the L series Kubotas have a mid PTO option for a MMM...no slam intended if they don't. Just was curious because I never looked at them after trying out the 4410.

Sounds fun. Even though I am fairly new to this, I like to look at who is online when I am and also am finding out alot about personalities by reading responses. The Midwest would be great...I live in southern Indiana. Maybe the JD, Kubota, NH guys should have sites/rooms together for protective reasons...just kidding!

I am assuming they are in the same price range? One plus for the Cub is the CAT engine. Then you have Kubota's known reliability. Even with the difference in horse power they are about the same size tractor.

iowafun - After reading your other thread title "WTF" I nedd to tell you that i used to be the biggest deere fan. I had nothing but problems with the people of deere also as you mentioned. On the top of the screen on thi site click on search & type in jd 790 fel bucket dropping & read it. I changed over to Kubota simply because JD people just dont seem to care.

If that 27 horse is a gas engine, it might, on a good day, produce the same PTO horse power as the Kubota 22 horse BX.<br>

I would have to go with the Kubota. There are allot of people in here with them and they all seem very happy with them. You can not beat how easy the hoe gos on and off and it has plenty of power for the size of the machine. With the hoe on you can lift a full heaping bucket of stone or dirt.

Hi Hettric,

I bought it at Tractor Supply Company. The brand name I believe is Worksaver. It works pretty well. It will dig up to 48" and will take a 6", 9", and 12" auger that change by just removing two bolts. What I don't like about it is that it comes with this metal bar that you are supposed to use to level the auger over where your digging but when you dig, the bar hits the one of the U shaped beams on the post hole digger and bends so I just took it off. Other than that, it is made very well and it seems to be quite heavy duty. I paid about $ 550 roughly for the whole thing.

They are 12.5 hp sales started in 1974. They are a good tractor if they were well maintained. <br>
We have traded some in and if i remember right some of the parts are discontinued and subject to what some one may have in stock.

Yes if you mow your grass often and are only taking about an inch of at a time then it would work OK. If you cut tall stuff then you will have problems.

Your best bet would be to fill it up then check it every hour to two hours for the first tank then go from there.

Go to an auto supply store NAPA, Auto Zone, or Pep Boys and get an aftermarket. There is usually an extra port on the thermostat housing or water pump housing that you can tap into.

I grew up using gear tractors and have to make a concious effort to actually back off the hydro pedal when starting to reach pushing or pulling limits. This directs more torque to the wheels through the drivetrain. It's the opposite of the logic we are used to when using throttles on cars, etc. Also, if the 4110 was not in low range, you'll find the pushing limit before you run out of traction. You probably know all this, so apologies if I'm preaching to the experienced. With my ballasted 4110 in low range 4WD, I typically run out of traction before stalling the machine. Just a few thoughts. --Pete
