The fact that diesel has more BTU's per gallon vs. gas is irrelevant. It takes more crude to produce one gallon of diesel than it does one gallon of gas. What is being refered to here is energy density of a fuel and not energy efficiency of a motor - the amount of work you can get out of a unit of energy.

If all are right the most "efficient" would be a hybrid diesel car. I am not aware of any of these units being produced - I am sure there is a good reason althought it may not be engineering / mechanically related.

In countries where gas and diesel are more expensive (as a proportion of disposable income - not the US / Canada) the country's fleet of vehicles tends to have smaller engines (few have more than 4 cylinders), they tend to have more turbo diesel passenger cars and many very small gas engines < 1.0 liter - 850cc passenger car engines are common. This says to me that when it comes to economising smaller = less expensive.

I'm hoping to be able to buy a compact TLB later this year for landscaping and plowing on about 3 acres. Have so far focused on the Kubota BX23 for price, features and low weight (= less yard damage). Just picked up spec sheet on CK20, which is slightly heavier and a little less power, but apparently has TWICE the lift capacity! Price is about $1k higher for the Kioti; I was quoted a little over $17k for the package.<br>

Is this a fair price for the TLB setup? Any comparisons with the BX23?<br>

I have a 2210, JD FEL, Worksaver PHD and JD ballast box. I find it kind of a PIA to line up the ballast box pins with the 3point hitch. The box is loaded / heavy and I'd like to be able to install / remove quickly. From what I can see, the I-match system does that (correct?). Will the PHD work with the I-match? <br>

One more.. what can I expect to pay for the I-match, and what components will I need.

has anyone here used the mulching kit on the 60" mmm with any success? the dealer is telling me it won't work very well because the mower is too big, but it occurs to me that size shouldn't matter, only the length of the grass.

should be a spin on type. If not look for a canister shaped thing with a large plug. May be horizontal or vertical.

I had a similar problem with a thistle feeder. It was hung on a bracket clamped to the handrail over the deck so when the birds perched on it for a bit they, you know, right on the deck. The bracket was such that it couldn't be turned so the feeder hung over the lawn. After a few attempts, the best solution was a 18" square of plywood clamped so it was underneath the feeder. Now and again I remove the square and hose it off. I wonder if you can do something similar under the nests over your doors?

Valve seals serve two purposes. One is as you said to keep oil from going in to the combustion chamber. The other is to keep the pressure from the raising piston on either the exhaust stroke or the compression stoke it the valves do not seat right from entering the valve cover. If the pressure gets into the valve cover it will go in to the crankcase as well. That is what causes 75% of blow by. Normally on diesels you will not get piston ring blow by unless it is a ether start.

It sounds like a great idea.

We could circle the tractors and have big campfire in the center.....LOL.

I think however, speaking as the guy who regularly gets 'volunteered' to organize family gatherings, that the logistics of just finding a date that worked for very many, let alone a location would prove rather difficult.

It might be easier to convince the women-folk if we planned it for a warm sunny location for a winter get-together at a resort destination.

Looking at a Case DX33 with loader and box scraper. Dealer has added Case MWX725 belly mower for $2700 on to original price of $18600, for a total of $21300. Would we be better off just to buy rear mounted finish mower for a lot less money? What are the advantages/disadvantages and does anybody know if that's overall a decent price? Thanks for any help you can give!!
