If you have a pressure washer, you could try cutting out the soil around the concrete ball enough to pull them with the FEL. If you can find a way to hook the post to one of the 3 pt. hitch rockshafts; that will more than double your pulling/lifting power. Just a few thoughts that came to my mind.

If you want the full Cat. 1 hitch. Get the 4110. If the budget will accomodate it; I strongly recommend the 4115 in your case since you mention a variety of tasks that will require a bit of pto hp.

AV8R, I know what you mean about the TDIs. I've been keeping an eye on eBay motors for one to pop up that might be in my area. I'd take a Jetta, Passat, or Golf TDI but no Beetle - those are ladies cars!

Did you go to the starter or to the solenoid? Some times when the jumping the starter the Bendix does not pop out and engage the fly wheel. I do not know why so I can not tell you how to correct it just to try again or a couple of times. What you want to do is go to the smallest terminal on the solenoid with a 12 volt source. Most time you can do this with a screw driver jumping the battery supply cable to the small terminal. Make sure you are in neutral with the barking brake locked!!!!!

Between those two I'd go with Kubota. I don't have anything against Mahindra but Kubota has a proven reliability record with an excellent dealer network and top-notch resale value.

I am assuming you are going with the hydro unit. Most of the time you will not need to use the brake. The hydro acts like a brake. The only time you will probably use the brake is for parking.

Thanks I couldn't agree more I like Kubota (own two)and your Deere's look good too, My brother swears by Deere but but he just bought a new Farmtrac550 and owns a big big Alice, what the hell I like and RESPECT them all, having said that I will become more opinionated with Airplanes and Hoppityclopters 13000 hours++ but then again there is the 3RD dimension to deal with!!!

Your best teacher is going to be your ops manual and your self. It is not too difficult but like every thing else practice makes perfect. Sounds to me that you are going about it the right way. It will not take too long and you will have the hang of it. I do not think you will need to go to a training course but if you feel it will help you than go for it. Good luck.

For running the mower or any other implement your tach should have an indicator as to where 540 PTO rpm is that is generally where you want to run it, but you can very it depending on conditions.

Yes that is the "slack" or back lash.
You are NOT supposed to engage the PTO "fast". That is like popping the clutch on a car. You are supposed to engage it slowly. Engaging it fast is not good for the tractor or the implement.

If your main use for the tractor is for loader work than the TC40 is fine. Also I would not recommend super steer for loader work. With that option it is very trick to maneuver around with the loader because the bucket will move in the opposite direction the the wheels when you turn. There is however no need for concern for tip over they are very stable tractors. The only time I ever suggest super steer is when you have a mid mount mower. These tractor have a tight turning radius with out super steer. They also have independent left and right brakes so if the occasional extra sharp turn is needed you can use the brake to help.

there is a link from the throttle to the hydro-stat that makes them work at the same time. If you loosen or tighten that link a little bit it will put more cushion it the stopping system. But with that you will lose a little off the line torque.

I'm told that here in Maine it is common practice to by-pass
your outside faucet's, as well there is a by -pass on the unit. I don't think running down cellar everytime I run the cloths washer. Thanks for pointing that out. Perhaps a by-pass permanently plumbed for the washer is in order with a whole house system?
