The breakout force of tractors vary depending on the size and from brand to brand. Unfortunately I must have missed a few comparisons as I haven't seen a manufacturer who holds the high from top to bottom of the lines on break out force. Try driving them all, put a load in the bucket and see who might be able to turn the easiest lock to lock on the steering wheel. Try driving them up different grades and see who pulls the hills better, check them out on the jobs you feel you need to do! There are no two machines that even when built in the same factory that will ever perform exactly the same.

When people talk tractors the "big 3" always enter the equation. I have long dabbled with folk in the sailing fraternity. When people there "talk boats" and are looking to get a new or second-hand sailboat fitted with a new engine (all diesels - these �25' marine craft), Yanmar is always near the top of the list. Two things 1) Super reliable, you don't want to be caught in the doldrums (the real doldrums) without power and 2) Parts avail worldwide. So my recommendation would be to get a Yanmar, my second recommendation would be to get a sailboat in which case you would probably be getting another Yanmar.

I keep my tractor up north. There it is almost flat so I can't compare to this terrain.

I built the grapple last winter. I think I talked about it in a thread called "logging update" if you're interested.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me the going rate for a brand new 790 & a 4110. I bought the 790 but realized it is just to big of a tractor for my land. The 4110 fits nice however the dealer is telling me that the 4110 is only $300 less then the 790. Did I get ripped off? Please advise.

Boy, I wouldn�t be trading down, you now have a feel and are use to the power of the 790, and I think you might be disappointed. If I had to switch to hydro I would be looking to at least go larger or the same hp.

Is there any way to do your work at a different angle and ride the brake when necessary to keep you from rolling, which seems to work for me?

I stayed away from the hydros because there was too many electric switches for a machine I want to last my life time and be in the elements, also there have been some discussion of people on steep grades having problem with loosing hydro fluid pick up. I also believe that some horse power is lost through the hydro compared to the gear........ That�s just my 2 1/2 cents maybe more! LOL Good Luck!!

I was quoted locally $21,000 for TC35DA with LA-16 Loader, loaded R4. The warranty work would include free tractor pickup. For the same price plus $1000 shipping, I got TC40DA, loaded R4 with LA-16 loader from Tarheel. Did I save money?

I talked to my agent about insurance when I ordered my 4310 three weeks ago. I'm with Farm Bureau and they said I was covered under the overall homeowners umbrella for the replacement value at no extra cost. This is due to their high content level they have as a % of the total home value. This is contingent upon not using it for business purposes.

Couple of thoughts:

Did you use the right grade hydro oil. Having the wrong viscosity can cause the problems you are describing.

Clean the strainer on the hydro line. It is a good idea to clean the strainer whenever you change the filters.

The Hydro Transmission usually has a seperate filter from the hydraulic system. Are you sure you changed the transmission filter.

Cycling the stearing a couple times usually will blead any air from the system.

Shibaura is owned by perkins which is owned by catipillar.
perkins-shibaura has 2 usa plants 1 in griffin ga. the 2nd is in pennsylvania. the u844 new holland engine has the same bore and stroke as the perkins 104-19. The valve cover gasket is the same but i do not know if the internal parts are the same. Any help will be great because the perkins parts cost less and are easey to get.

Good morning! I'd like a larger tool box than the (useful but small) one behind the seat on my L3130. I was thinking of attaching an old ammo box to the horizontal cross-member of the ROPS behind the seat with u-bolts. I'd prefer for this box to be lower because I want to put a larger hammer and some heavy chain. Any ideas on better locations?<br>

Well I did it! Got the DK65 with 1730FEL, 72" Tiller, 72" Box Blade; 84" Mower, and hay forks. Should be able to work these 73 acres now.

I'll let you know how it works out and post a few pictures in a couple of weeks.

t, don't know who you are, but duh. One of the best known brands in North America, Kenmore, does not have a single factory. Everything is made by someone else with the Kenmore sticker on it. Craftsman tools are the same thing. DeWalt tools are just better Black and Decker units. Nike owns no factories. The labels in the clothing you wear are made in someone else's factory. So what if Frontier is made by someone else to JD's specs?
