I was thinking about buying a new Boomer, I also live in Canada. Not sure on their resale value however, I've just started to look. I see you ran a six foot finisher on the rear, I have a landpride AT25 running behind a Ford 8N, How do you rate your machine's power for running your mower and also your bucket loader are you happy with the hydraulic performance/power?

An adavantage to putting fluid in the tires is general stability. The compacts are light enough that they bounce around alot when mowing or bush hogging. Fluid in the rear tires really helps smooth things out.

It's long but here are a couple of illustrations: It takes fair sized pits or leech lines to dispose of much water. They are sizable projects

A raised gray water pit at our camp is a 6x12x4 foot pit stone filled with a 4' cube chamber. Between the chamber and stone it would hold around 500 - 600 gallons and would manage a one-time drainage problem of that size. However, even with our sandy soil the pit is rated at 375 gallon/day. Fill it once and then the capacity is about half for the next day.

The pit had to be raised 3' above grade to accommodate a high spring water table. The one foot below grade is well within the layer that is saturated after thaw or wet weather so it won't perc anywhere near 375 gallon/day when it'd be needed for drainage problems. It also freezes so it stores ice rather than disposes of water during the winter.

If it were used to drain a foundation, the pit top would have to start at the bottom of the foundation plus some for a drainage angle, or drainage would have to be collected in a sump and pumped to the pit.

On the other hand a barrel part way down a steep embankment does an adequate job at our house for laundry and occasional sump discharge. I don't suppose the open barrel bottom actually percs much water, but any overflow just goes further down the hill. It doesn't freeze because some hot water goes into it and the barrel top and drain line is covered with Styrofoam. The drainage line starts out '2 deep at the house and runs 50' or so. The idea wouldn't work without the steep embankment because the barrel would have to be very deep and then there'd be no place for overflow to go. Leech lines don't require as much depth but they take more area. It's a lot easier to solve drainage problems on the surface.

You will find that the ground speed is to fast for a tiller on an "N" series tractor, unless you have the rare and fragile howard gear. A sherman under tranny is no help either.

Another vote for checking out the dealer. It is such an important part of being happy with your equipmennt and the whole experience.

There are subtle differences between the machines, mostly having to do with the operator station and the way the controls are set up. Make sure you sit in all of them and test them out. You will find the one you are most comfortable with. I have Orange, after having spent a lot of time checking and testing all three. It came down to the dealer for me.

Hardwood you made my day. I haven't heard of putting a T in the lines to help relieve pressure but there is no reason that it shouldn't work other then it might cause some alignment problems with attachemnts with weak cylinders but it would let you know you have a problem. This is not a new problem and the suggestions here have all been good.

Recently bought a new 2004 F250 SD. I almost never buy extended warranty as past experience has shown that I would have wasted a lot of money. In all my purchases, only once have I had a major repair (transmission) after I was out of warranty. Even then, the repair costs was only about what the extended warranty would have cost. And I always drive my vehicles well over 100k miles. However, when I bought my new truck, they said they have an extended warranty plan, that if you don't use it, the cost will be reimbursed at the end of the warranty period. Wow! I decided to take it as insurance. As I see it, if I don't use it, my only loss is the loss of interest on that money for that period. I could not find any "gotchas" in it. You just don't want to use it for minor repairs. Anyone else look at this extended warranty?

The Hemi design is the most fluid design for entrance and exit of the compression area needed to run engines. The design gives a better distribution of the material to be burned on both gas and diesel engines. Many of the newer diesels are also going to that design style for it's benifits. At higher RPM's they are at a real advantage over other style heads but there also is a cost factor in making them. Remembering the old chevies with the 265 and 283 engines where a bare block weighed about the same as a head from the old hemi mopars.

I've seen these scams too, as I am looking for a 4110 myself. I alerted eBay to this fact, there were a whole string of them like this, for whatever reason, it was popular to use 41XX series tractors for the bogus ads. The scam is has 2 parts. The first is the so-called pre-approval to bid on the 'unbelievably low priced tractor. The sole purpose is to get a valid e-mail address for spamming etc. The second part comes if you are actually trying to buy it. They pull the often used, "let's do this outside ebay via Western Union" trick. As it turn out, eBay replied and siad all the accounts used for this had been hijacked.

You can't go wrong with the BX but all things considered for the few extra bucks go for the 2230 and get the bigger engine- you won't regret it especially if you plan on keeping it a while and doing loader work. Tractors are like motorcycles- after you buy it and get used to it you wish you bought the bigger one. The 1500 is a terrific machine but the 2230 (or a leftover 2200 if you can find one) has a little more kick and in my opinion and many other's is worht the extra few bucks. It's all opinion but I am much happier with my bx2200's power over my old 17 hp. Big difference.

Are you sure you drove one? The new Cummins (not cummings) is as quiet or quieter than either the Ford or Chevy diesel. The older (pre 2003?) Cummins motors were more noisy, but no where near as bad as an older 7.3 or 6.5. Noise, smoke and lack of power are just not factors on any of the newer diesels. Reguardless, that is the most musical and beautiful noise you could ever hear.

I agree the new big block gas motor from Chevy is nearly as much of a gas hog as the V-10 Dodge. They do go like heck though!

Sorry to hear your troubles but I have to ask? Why in the lords name did you buy accrossed the country? The price cant be that good? I hope things work out for you maybe contact your mower comp. directly?
As you read more posts here you will repeatedly see the number one reason to buy a tractor brand and it is not because you like the color, it is the dealer that you are comfortable with. Now I know this is no consolation to you,
But Jameststay, you have provided many readers with a great service by proving what this board preaches. The dealer should be very high up on your reasons to buy and it should be local or close enough to trailer to!
Once again sorry for your bad experiance so far and lets just hope that TARHEAL steps up to the plate here? What a PR move it would be if you post next week saying that TARHEAL Apoligized for the incovienance and took care of ALL the troubles .

I know you said you dont want to cover it, but I would get myself a load of pea gravel and spread over the top. Dont think I would want to put anything down that may jepardize pouring concrete in the future with out removing the limestone along with what ever mess may come with it. In any case, do what has been suggested , (experiment with a smaller portion first) Being in a trade for many years there is one thing I have learned when working on alot of different things. Test your first few attempts or parts before comitting yourself.

The recommended fluid is John Deere HyGard , but any hydraulic fluid meeting deere spec J20C is ok.

The tc24 is more tractor, and i think i can get for same price. New styling, and more juice power. No brainer? The tc21 would be cheaper. Gonna get something by next friday.
