Usually putting a loader in float means pushing the control passed a small resistance into a detent. It should stay in that position until the control is pulled back.

Generally you can check if a loader has a float feature. There should be two sort of cylinders sticking out the back of the valve assembly--one for each control valve. The valve with the longer cylinder should be the one with float. I'd make sure the hoses from that valve go to the lift cylinders. My used tractor came with the hoses backwards so the float was on the bucket--seems odd but they're used that way sometimes for haying I hear.

I'm seriously considering purchasing a new TC48DA. I have a John Deere 870 right now and I need some more HP. The neighbor down the road traded in his Deere and went with a NH. Said he loves it. I thought I would give them a shot. My land here in upstate NY is all on a hill and the poor little John Deere has got its tongue hanging out when I try to pull the two bottom plow or 6' bush hog around. I just wondered what you guys thought of the TC48DA. I've been quoted a price of $22,800 for the tractor, 18LA loader, and Ag tires. Not sure if I want to trade my 870 in or not. It's got 4WD, new Ag tires, canopy, FEL, and 530 hours. Not even positive what year it is... somewhere around mid 90's.<br>
Also do you know if there is some way I can use my Category I implements on the Category II 3pt hitch of the New Holland? Can I just get different pins or something?

My brother does sheet metal work and uses a cordless drill constantly all day long. He has tried a various assortment of the cordless tools and has always come back to the 9.6 volt Makita with the orange battery pack and the 12 volt DeWalt. He has also talked with several other people who make their living with the cordless tools and Makita and DeWalt seem to be the winners. He was telling me that certain BD batteries are interchangeable with DeWalt batteries.

Paved driveway, but long and up a hill (gentle slope). My JD 140 had trouble with a 4' (single stage) blower. The snow we get here is often slushy.

I don't know if it doesn't lower when it's carrying a load, unloaded or both. I don't know why it'd depend on how long the tractor operated but some hitches do need some encouragement to lower when they're unloaded.

On position control 3ph's, a closed flow control valve will prevent it from lowering, but a poppet spool valve has to open as well. Again I don't know why it only happen after some operation but there are 3ph linkage and adjustment possibilities and an outside chance that the flow control valve isn't actually opening.

Grinder; The roof is a common wood rafters with solid shiplap sheathing. on top of that is a layer of old asphalt shingles covered with 2X4 horozontal nailers 2 ft. apart toped with steel. Yes it's heavy but we did rebrace the rafters from underneath. The whole building is 24 X 32 with 8 ft. sidewalls and a common 4/12 roof. so we're not talking abouit a lot of volume to heat. I'm going to check into the foam that was mentioned above for the walls. So now should I leave the rafter space open and put some insulation on the bottom of the roof sheathing or put steel on the bottom of the rafter ties and lay some rool insulation on the top of it? My Son tells me to leave the space between the rafters open to better pull welding smoke out with a fan rather than put flat steel on the ceiling and try to capture the smoke with a hood. I completely striped out all the old wiring and my goal is to have no wiring in the walls I'll use surface mount conduit. Today the plan is to trench 3 phase to the building for some curent 3 phase equipment that I'll move over there when the building is done. Even the wife thinks this is a good idea because I might have trouble squeezing all my stuff in the smaller building, so it may limit my ability to buy any more toys, er, oh, I mean badly needed tools. the 4 cyl. nh will have a little more torque than the 3 cyl. kubota. BUT the kubota is still a great tractor. Yes the case and new Holland are the exact same tractor.

Have you considered getting a quick tach front plate and getting a set of real forks? I think mu bucket forks are ok but if I was to use everyday I would definatley get a set of real forks, maybe even a separate bucket with teeth on it already

What are you using it for? Have you checked the classifieds and all other dealers in area? Their are a lot of good used tractors around. How do the dealers compare? Warrenties, Parts?

I live in Livingston, Louisiana. I got a quote a few months ago from a Massey-Ferguson dealer on a new 231S. The price for just the tractor was $12,500.00 Hope this helps ya'.

All I know is that I been to many dealers throughout the state NC, and its the same response when I mention Mahindra. What was most surprising even the Mahindra dealer who sold it to me didn't even want to talk trade with my tractor. I have come very close to writing Mahindra asking about their poor resale value and another Mahindra dealer said not to waste the time. All I know is that their customer rating as far as resale value has to be very low. While pricing other major brands I have found that the major brands are not far off the price in which Mahindra Dealers are asking for comparable makes.

The most expensive filter is the hydraulic and hst filter and the others should not be very much at all. You will not have to change the hyd. and hst filter as often. The engine should be a good oil that is recomended for your area. Colder weather will require a specific weight. The hydrailic oil will be a good tractor hydraulic fluid that you can buy at any parts store. Put this in the trans. and the front axle. Check with your manual or dealer to make sure that this will work well with your climate.

I'm still not sure if $8900 was a great price for this chipper but I bought it anyway. It will be delivered in two weeks. They are changing all fluids and filters, checking and greasing all bearings and seals, putting fresh knives on it, checking and replacing hoses if needed, giving it a tuneup, and throwing in a spare set of knives for the price. THIS baby should do the job. 85hp of pure chipping power. ARGH ARGH ARGH!
