I dont have a NH 1725 listed in my reference so cannot give you more information.

In general the first thing you should do when purchasing a tractor is ask for the COMPLETE model number and actual serial number of the machine. Then call up your local dealer for that brand and ask for the year and specs for the SERIAL number. It is difficult for a user to provide a faulty serial number that actually corresponds to one located in the manufacturers database. When I called my JD dealer about the 4300 I bought used he told me the actual year and pulled up the service history for the tractor even though the tractor was in another state. I also checked that the tractor had not been reported to JD as stolen. Once purchased I gave my info to JD, now they will check every time a service or repair is carried out on that machine that I have not reported the unit as stolen. The serial number is the key piece of information for that machine. Good luck bidding.

Follow the manual. I don't know why dealers recommend these shortcuts, but I think it says a lot about the dealer when they do (none of it good).

IMO Belarus's big claim to fame is its engines. I have a VERY old Belarus air cooled 2 cylinder engine on my Cedar Rapids gravel screener. It is quite possibly the best engine I have even owned. Screeners run all day at full RPM with a lot of power to it, they shake hard and get full of dust. That engine has been absolutely bullet proof. My story isn't the only one, they have high respect with a lot of contractors for light plants etc.

I think I recall in a previous thread, that, originally the JD ballast boxes were not I-Match compatible. And, that JD recently changed them (within the last couple years) to work with the I-Match system.

Hi , I have two Onan powered genset/welders.One miller and one lincoln.Both have faulty coils and I've been trying to find aftermarket replacements to no avail.A friend told me that NAPA/Echlin have them but I tried the local UAP/NAPA store and they can't find any listing (I'm in Canada).Has anyone ever bought one and might you have the part #.<br>

My 4115 does the same thing.

I use the dump circuit to lower/extend the arm when I disconnect so I end up with the tips that go into the top sockets really extended.

That seems to help on re-connect but sometimes I have to extend the arms even further and drive forward to get both to line up again.

When using the stick and measuring methods, you must be on flat and even terrain. (i.e. if the front end of the truck is high your ball position will be lower than normal before getting started). Another method is to measure the height of the rear wheel well opening above the rear tire before and after. Then it doesn't matter what terrain you are on!

I usually grab the tongue and lift! That may sound stupid on a triple axle flat bed but believe me it works. Even if the tongue weight is 500 or 1000 lbs. you can get some movement out of it causing the rear springs to give. At 500 lbs. tongue weight you can move it lots more than at 1000lbs. Then if you stand on it you can push it down slightly. At 500lbs. tongue weight a 230lb. guy can depress it some. At 1000lbs. tongue weight a 230lb. guy don't make it move much. If you step on it and it has negative tongue weight you can feel the clearance in the ball socket and your weight gets lots more spring movement.
That's my version of Kentucky windage!

Brian, I think it was under 'logging' or 'log skidding' but Randy has certainly pointed you in the right direction for buying them.

It is a VERY dangerous task though, pay extra attention to all safety measures when doing it.

Good question, this was on a trade in on a 4110 jd with a bucket and back blade. So you bring up a good point ( I think) Had I not had a trade in would he of come down on the price of the tractor more. I just had a 500 off the list price on the tractor and he tossed in the rear ballist box and a few hundred off the bucket. I l figured the whole rig was worth 6,000 so I did not kick about pricing on the other end. Its kinda of like which came 1st the chicken or the egg.

Ditto on everything said above. You can ask 10 different people about their preference and you will get 10 different answers. They are all good machines and it is YOUR preference that counts.

Please be sure you test drive them all and spend some time at the dealership looking around. Check out the service department and the parts department. It is the relationship you forge with a dealer that is going to make you love or hate your machine, whatever color, in the long run.

Sorry about that Tom, the CRS must be setting in worse than before.

The amount of crown you put into that drive looks fine, I would suggest though that you make sure you eliminate ALL of that little ridge visible on the right-hand shoulder in your picture # 1 before you park that blue monster of yours.

They way it shows in that picture, the water will run off the road cross-wise, the way it's supposed to, but then get trapped by that little ridge, at which point it will run downhill until it can escape the road surface. During that journey you can be sure of two things, it will cause erosion along the way, and it will take a big part of the escape route with it. This is what causes the big V-shaped notches out of the side of a road's shoulder after downpours.

This can also result from something as simple as a heavy vehicle driving along the shoulder and the tire causing a depression for the water to run in.

As for the culverts, there are pro's and con's to both.

The plastic won't rust and if a truck drops a wheel over the edge it won't be mashed shut like steel would.

The steel is stronger and doesn't require as much ground-cover, this is handy in some circumstances where the soil conditions (read BFR's) won't allow them to be buried deep enough.

Unless you have a LOT of water to deal with I don't advise even using culverts. I prefer to see a seepage installed. Basically a series of 6" weeping tiles (Big O) with the material (sock) covering, filled with clear stone, and laid cross-wise under the driveway. This allows the water to pass under the road without the hassle and potential problems of a culvert.

It's a little late in your case I'm sure, but you can usually design the driveway such that as little water as possible ends up on the 'wrong' side.

I have an L3010 and don't know if the throttle linkage is exactly the same as the 3130 but the linkage was binding on mine when I got it. Very stiff. I bent the rods slightly to give clearance. Might want to check it before adjusting anything, if you haven't already.
