Dennis - I have a Woods HBL72 I use with a JD4300. This is the old Gill line that Woods purchased, very similar to MonroeTufline GB4. Angle, tilts, offsets. <br>Very heavy, (500-600#) and very useful. I would trust both Woods and MonroeTufline.

I have seen some of these low mileage tractors around and for some reason the owners think they are worth what they paid for them and more! This is ridiculous when you can by a new tractor with warrantee for the same money. The used tractor is an older, discontinued model should be at least 20 - 25% less than a comparable new model. But I'll bet there is someone who didn't do his homework that ends up buying this tractor for several thousands too much.

I would agree, except you can't add water to an Optima. They are a sealed gel cell and work in any position. Retail price seems to be about $120. Optimas put out 600 CCA instead of the 650 CCA that a new liquid lead/acid cell will do. <br> In my experience the lead/acid type degrade a little bit each year and I rarely get five years out of them. The Optima Gel Cell seems to put out about the same CCA for eight years after which it no longer will start a cold diesel unless the battery has been fully charged within the last couple of weeks or so. Hello Bob. Offset is not the same as a wide blade because offset tends to push the tractor to the side. It is not as effient as a long blade, which has the advantage of centering the torque in the center of the tractor. If the tractor is light weight, an offset drives the tractor instead of the proper way around. That said, most 30 hp tractors struggle to pull enough material in an 8 foot blade to make it worth the effort. You can only pull an inch or so of constant depth in dirt with a small tractor pulling an 8' blade and it is hard to keep it spreading smoothly. But you know...your gravel drive might be the exception. If it is loose gravel then a light weight 8 foot blade might work. It would be worth a try. You might want to consider a light weight inexpensive 8' blade - because it is the reach you are after rather than the big job capability. Whatever you do, get a set of end plates for an angle blade. I use mine all the time for spreading dirt. If you put a little tilt to the blade, then the end cap makes it possible to spill the dirt under the blade instead of off the end.

You should be able to do about $1,500 better. I paid about $16,000 for all you have except rear blade plus I bought foldable ROPS and box blade.

I drained the fluid and cleaned the sump filter. It had some stuff on it but it wasn't too bad. I put new fluid in and its seems to be doing just fine. I Put a test gauge on each of the control lines feeding the loader and they all went up to about 2200 lbs. It looks like that did it. Thanks for the help and suggestion .....PETE

I have not used the new backhoe but have seen it up close and it appears very well made. The sub frame, cylinders, links, and controls all look as good as any in the class. I would love to have one for a few months.

Match the BCI group number that may be listed in your operator's manual. This wil insure the physical dimensions and post position of your replacement battery A good battery vendor will look this up for you too. If they can't, shop elsewhere. Match the CCA (Cold Cranking Amp) rating also found in your Op manual. This will guarantee proper cold starting capability. Then you can go shopping for the best deal. Clean all cable connections, including the posts on your new battery and the chassis end of the ground cable. If you match the BCI group (which I think is 24) you will avoid the hassels of modifying brackets because you don't have the right battery.

Hi Jerry<br>The tractor price new varies some $900 depending on the tires. The small Ag tires being the lowest priced. The tractor alone new is about 9K at a good price. And it will accept a loader. Bill, I ain't that old! Agree that many products aren't what they used to be and have to change with the times. { You might note that this typed on a Gateway 233 laptop}. I sure as heck don't miss doing the 12000 mile once a year tune up and greasing the front end {in the venacular,it sucks}. If you kept up with all of the posts you would have noted that I didn't defend fram nor any other brand, I merely said ,prove it. The problem today is that the products are getting so complex and often unrepairable that it literally becomes impossible to evaluate quality without some sophisticated tests and equipment. I would readily give up a particular brand if evidence was available it being watered down in quality. On the other hand, it is a waste of money buying more quality then necessary. The experience I referred to was being able to critically evaluate, being skeptical as to product claims and not having sucker written on my forehead. Yep, I know motors and do just about every thing myself and believe I have been around the block once or twice. When some one tells me something is no good, they better be able to back it with some facts and boy,am I willing to learn. I got tons of cash invested in my JD870 and that's why I read this great board, there is a whole of guys out there that have experiences that I don't and they are willing to share. Incidently, Webmaster and MlS have been near the top of my list.Lots of respect for those boys and others. So. I agree with you and appretiate your thoughts . Oil anylsis, I gotta think about that one.
