This spring I bought a 4100 with FEL and a 5' Landpride 3PH finish mower. It has about 470 hours on it. Before purchasing it the dealer (mid state equipment in Watertown WI) went through it and (allegedly) gave it a "full service". It has been a great machine with no problems up until last week. I turned it off after a good hour or two of mowing and FEL work. After a few minutes I went to start it again and got nothing. The starter doesn't engage. I checked (and rechecked) that the PTO is off, the parking brake is on, the tranny is in Neutral. Nothing. It appears to have plenty of juice as the lights are bright and when I turn the key to the start position I can see the dash lights dim a little. The low pressure light and the battery charge light come on like they are supposed to. I've checked the starter fuse, oil level, pushed the safety switch under the seat in while turning the key. Nothing. I can't seem to recall for sure but I think that that the low oil pressure light may have come on just before I shut it down. Again, the oil level is fine and I see no signs of anything (to my eye) wrong in the engine compartment. The only unusual thing I've had happen is the high temp light has gone off a couple of times because of the screen getting clogged with weed seeds. Both times I just cleaned it off, went back at it easy and the light went out within a minute. Any ideas before I call the dealer? Thanks!<br>

I've been looking for some specific info on this board but haven't found everything I am looking for. <br>

My 50 hour service is coming up and I need some help on my B7800 4WD. <br>

Are there 2 drain plugs for the engine oil? <br>
Is the engine oil filter different size, shape, color, etc than the tranny filters (I don't want to confuse them)? <br>
Are there 4 drain plugs for the tranny fluid (1 for front tranny case and 3 for rear tranny case)? <br>
Are there 2 filters for the tranny? <br>
It seems there is only one place to check the tranny fluid, so why do they discuss front and rear transmission in the manual as if they are 2 different areas? <br>

Also, what price should I expect to pay for the engine oil,engine oil filter, tranny fluid (super udt), and tranny filters? <br>

This is the first tractor I have worked on so I am a newbie to this area. Any precautions or tricks of the trade I need to know while performing these operations? I have a loader and MMM on the tractor. Will these be in the way of this service? Thanks for all input and help. Much appreciated. <br>

I have a Mits D1550 FD also I got a Manual from Bill Rogers for a Satoh s470 which is just about the same one. I like the tractor, have a front end loader.

Around here the seat covering with moulded in padding is sold as a replacement set. You just undo the rubber piping that holds it to the steel seat pan and then put the new one in place.

I believe they are about $20-$30 depending on size & shape.

Hi yooperpete ,

You definetly have a good collection of Cub machines! I love my new Cub 3204, and there are things that it does that is so far improved over old. The cut is excellent, the snow thrower setup is vastly improved over my older 125. I think the 3204 is greatly improved over the 1862/1864 and would be their direct replacement (or the 3235)..I can mow my 2 full acres of grass in 50% less time than my old machine. More power being one reason, superior cut being another. Comfort being the biggest improvement. I think the 3000 series would be the better machine for you, since you have the 1862/1864 series already. The shaft attachment is a huge improvment over the belt & carriage of old. Less power loss and mis-aligned belts and pulleys, no shredded belts from sticks, etc..I could go on and on on their benefits but hopefully you have seen them up close...My profile has some action shots as well..

I almost positive but the 1862/1864 can use the newer synthetic blend Cub tranny oil. It will quite down as well as cool better than Hytran...it just costs a lot more

Thanks Murph, I am leaning more toward a 3pt spreader, that I can use for salt and (maybe salt and sand mix) for winter use and fertilizer and grass seed at other times. Of course the fertilizer just means that the grass will grow even faster! Just means more seat time! I will say that tee "brine" solution sounds very interesting. Thanks, Mike.

Thanks, guys - that's what my dealer said too. Ditto the brake pedal - have to push fairly hard to release the parking break but he thinks that'll loosen up too.

By the way, that 270lbs. at the tip will induce a 9700lb load at the weld at the front of the 3 point support. You need 4" of good 1/4" fillet weld for that. It looks from the picture like you probably have it.

Does it do it all the time now, even with the bucket empty? Hot, cold make any difference?

I doubt the relief valve is making noise if it does it empty as that usually only kicks in under load.

Maybe a small rock lodged in around one of the pivot points somewhere?

Speaking of shoe size..........I have one heck of a time operating my friends B2400. Really nice machine but there is just not enough room for my "clod hoppers". I really appreciate the dual pedal eHydro feature as well as the very open and large area operator's station. For a size 9 foot and below, the B2400 would be fine. ;o)

The valve you use for your snow blower is the same as the loader. The rest of the pieces are different from the machines.

I can verify Art's BX comment. Remember Isabel? I lost the upper half of a hard maple tree where the trunk forked. The "branch" was about 14" across at the base and about 30' long with a lot of smaller branches. I dragged it out of the woods with my BX1500 to a place where I could easily saw it up. It was working fairly hard, but handled the job nevertheless. I wouldn't worry about horsepower as much as weight. Traction and stability will be the key issue.

I have a JD 4300 and my manual says the same thing. I replaced the thermostat myself and it's a piece of cake. Just make sure your dealer orders the part for your tractor in your climatic region (I guess thats why they suggest the dealer does it). You will also have to replace a gaskit or two so make sure you order those as well. On the installation make sure the thermostat goes in in the same orientation as the original and that it seats properly. I used the JD parts website to get inspection drawings so I could do it properly. IMHO you can do it yourself if you are in any way mechanically inclined. The change is recommended more for prevention than anything else as my original thermostat is working and operated just fine with no corrosio buildup or other defects.

I don't think it's a MF. Try a Allis 5020 or 30. I'm still trying to figure out if there is a crossover for my e-154 4 wheel drive.
