I'm leaning toward the JD at this point due to the implements and the 4WD. The TC30 has an $1,100 option for 4WD. Thoughts please?! I'm new to tractors.

Jack excuse my ignorance, but who are the CNH?

Thank you for the merlins website, but my main interest in the foton is that its fully imported price is very very cheap, and the merlin maybe 20K cheaper than its competiton in Australia, compared to the directed imported foton, it is very expensive. Jack I have very limited funds for a tractor, and this is why the foton has apprealed to me.

I would be interested in any more info you have on the CNH issue with the Foton

Oliver, for snow plow blades and alot of other things check out M.C.Faulkner, they make them pin on or quick release. I have a hydraulic thumb of theirs and it works great. Go to the link I posted(if I did it right) and click on snow movers

Excellent review Ken!!! You should be an author. I have a Jinma dealer about 4 miles from here & have been debating on buying that same chipper. Your review has taught me that it would be a bad move for me. I have been renting commercial truck towable chippers for years. They are strong & almost never jam. I personaly would not have the patience to do all the maintenance & modifications that your doing. You have solved a decision of mine that I have been struggling with for some time now....Thanks a million!

All I can say is I'm certainly not disappointed with my 3130hst, just turned over 50 hours and parked for a day or so until i can get to the servicing. can't wait to get it back in service.

Almost all my work sounds similar to what you talk about, working on hillside, heavy into clearing, digging stumps and so forth.

Haven't really skidded yet, but have done a couple experimental lifts of stacked fallen logs with the 723 loader and am really impressed with what it will do.

The key thing is to GO SLOW on hills, which brings me to final point. You seem to be dead set against HST and sure you have your good reasons to that. But to me, as an inexperienced operator, I'm glad I followed a lot of advice on this thread and went with the HST, mainly from the safety aspect. It is so easy to do things at creep speed and I find that important when I'm horsing around heavy stuff and trying to keep all four wheels on the ground at the same time.

Bottom line is I'm amazed at what my 3130 will do. Better than I ever expected.

I agree with you Ken, But I will say The frame / chassis is very strong / heavy duty on my Kubota. I am definitly not saying the JD 4310 (comparible machine) has a weak frame just doesn't apear to be quite as strong.

C5er....You need the length of you blades.....the center hole size...the guague of steel...measure and then go to site mentioned here in this thread.......and you can find a blade that will work......

Well I opened my trap a bit early on the box scraper teeth,I was clearing a small hilltop this weekend around my deer stand and ended up snaping two of the five teeth of my Frontier 60 inch box blade. MURF what are they going to cost me I've read you have replaced a few.Never broke any when using with the 790-It would just stop the tractor.The 5205 never though about even bogging just started snaping teeth. I did manage to get all the roots cleared but lost a few teeth while doing it.I really need a larger box as the 60 inch is well inside the rear tires.

Like I have stated here many times, I have a 20 year old B-8200 HST....THAT has over 3000 hours....all on VALVOLINE PURE SYNTHETIC oil....still runs like new.....I can tell the lower operating temp. with synthetic.....Almost all of those hours are at full throtle and mowing.....I would not use anything else.......I am getting ready to have first 50 hr survice on new B-2910....and will use SYNTHETIC for first time....it is better to break in at higher temperatures with regular oil.....and then change to synthetic oil....I run it in all of my motors

Wanted to pass on my recent experience with the #1 New Holland dealer in the South.

I purchased my MTE2000 a month ago from Corriher Tractor and have had the most horrible experience with the entire process.

I won my tractor at auction at a very good price. Not my fault that they started the bidding so low. When I arrived at the dealership (the same day the auction ended mind you) to pay with cash they treated me like I had gotten "too good" a deal.

I received no instruction on the tractor. My rookie tractor questions were treated as stupid. When I went to close the deal after the tractor was finally readied, the salesman was nowhere to be found. I had to ask for everything and keep the process going the entire day.

The real problems started when I got home and the "new tractor" happiness left. The voltage regulator failed the second day. Luckily I'm handy and diagnosed this problem because Corriher was no help with this either. Then, instead of looking up a part number and quoting a price I had to mail them the broken part. 3 weeks later, with no other contact, they call me and say they have my $200.00 part from Japan.

Of course, I had already found an alternative for half that price and refused the item. The parts manager got upset that he had done "all that work" and hung the phone up on me. I of course called right back and let him have both barrels. Yes, at this point I was cussin!! You would be too.

In the past three weeks the exhaust manifold cracked (where previously welded) and the muffler fell off. Corriher said, "just go have it welded cause those are expensive to replace." The fanbelt broke, close inspection while replacing this I noticed damage to the fan blade and radiator, and I replaced the front tires because they were dangerously dry rotted. OK, I accepted the tires that way, but I wouldn't have sold anyone a tractor with those tires.

My point is this. If you expect good customer service and a smooth transaction then don't buy from Corriher. They are clearly dealing in quantity not quality. Reading early posts I remembered there is alot of junk around the business, they take great pride in being in business since the 40's and the building looks it (no improvements) and there were too many people standing around feeding from the cash cow instead of asking how they can help me.

There loaders are not too bad once you get the sub frame on. Allot of the time the subframes and hyd. valve plumbing takes some fab work to get it to go on the tractor right. Once that is done there are good.

I had a almost the same thing happen to my 790. I burnt up 2 fuel shut off sellinoids. It wasnt the switch under the seat or the one for the pto, it was the relay that they both connect to. I love my 790 and crazy about the #7 backhoe.

I regularly use .6 oz. per gallon for the max. 6 pt. cetane boost. Seems to help reduce combustion noise.

Sorry folks about creating the buzz with the ROPS...just assumed they came with it, since everyone I saw (4110 had them on it)...However if you ever went for the backhoe, you will need the foldable ROPS. If your dealer offers it, grab it because everyhting made out of metal is rising in cost..

TAFE LT 330 HST - I just looked at a new one with a price tag of $18K with a nice frontend loader complete with subframe to the rear axle. It is made in Korea with 12.4 -24 rear and 8 - 16 front tires. It looks nice, more like a Kubota in quality and is the same color of orange it seemed to me. While the seller (a used car lot) might take a lot less the $18K seems a little steep. I am sure there is a dealer that spotted the tractor next to the used car lot because the sign on it states to go next door to the used car lot for more info. It states it is the "Hail America Series" and the quality loader says, Made in CANADA. Is this an relative new line being imported? It is the first one I have ever noticed. Again it does appear to be quality from the castings and finished look.
