I just called the Dealer and he is having a Curtis ROP Canopy Shipped to me. Total cost $400.00 I tried to talk him out of a Cab, can you imagine him turning me down!

Using a piece of equipment long term sure exposes it's warts. Maybe my Jinma chipper is a bit too small or too consumer-quality for my needs but it seems that every 15 hours of operation requires 5 hours of maintenance. Here's some more issues that have come up.

The feed roller drive pulley is mounted on the main flywheel shaft which passes through a hole in a sheet metal panel. This hole is about a half inch larger than it needs to be, which creates a gap between shaft and panel. The ends of small brush can enter this gap and they then get wrapped around the shaft and pulley. Eventually they bind the shaft, and removing them is a tedious and time consuming operation. You have to pull off some sheet metal covers and half the feed chute and grab one end of the brush while manually spinning the flywheel backwards and avoiding the knives. This probably could be prevented by pulling the pulley and riveting another piece of sheet metal with a smaller shaft hole to reduce the gap.

This problem may have been exacerbated by a too-large gap between the anvil and knives. The manual calls for 0.010-0.030 clearance and I suspect the clearance from the factory was much larger (but didn't measure before I had already removed the anvil). I replaced the anvil and set the clearance to 0.020. We'll see if this helps.

Also, the knives don't seem to stay sharp more than 10-15 hours. Changing or reversing knives also takes a couple of hours. It's a real PIA to dig the sap/dirt out of the four hex head screws and associated nuts that hold each knife, but they have to be cleaned up before they can be removed. I spoke to a guy who makes chipper knives out of high quality alloys, and he said he could make some knives for me for around $100/set. I may take him up on this since the price isn't that much higher than factory knives.

having your horses drink Round up (or it's two clones) would not be a great source of dietary fiber, but it would also not really harm them. Unless of course your horses use photosynthesis to survive. What kills the plant is the agent that block the plant from using it's photosynthesis and essentially chokes the plant. I can't speak for horses, but I know for humans that a cup of coffee is more harmful than round-up.

after years of wanting one I finally got my sub compact. I made a deal last night on a 2210 with turf tires 210 loader 54 bucket. I'll soon be adding a Buhler/Allied/Farm King 60" 3 point finishing mower and 3 point blade of some sort. Man am I excited. I sold Deere's for years but don't remember any of my customers being this pumped. Maybe they were and just didn't show it. Everytime I show someone how to take the loader on and off I giggle with glee.

I can field this one, having owned a car dealership and working for John Deere for years.
The tractors are much more controlled by the companies in respect to both number of dealerships and marketing by the store.In my territory there are 28 Chrysler stores and 5 John Deere stores. True everone needs a car and not everyone a tractor but the farmers who do have 30 pieces of equip and 1 car. Chrysler wants me to sell cars period. Deere wants life long one on one customers. There are actually JD dealers that will meet and set prices and territory lines with a map.

Well, I finally did it! Ordered a DK65 with FEL, 7'Cutter, and Tiller. Dealer said he could deliver next Saturday. I'm really looking forward to putting it to work, got 70 acres of pasture that need mowing badly. I'll let you know how it works out.<br>

Used one on a skid steer once. It was great. In really thick brush I was able to lft the hog up high & slowly drop it down on top of the brush & completely shred it up without it tangling or getting cought on the bush hog. I didnt use it to mow open fields though & I dont think it would work to well there cause it wouldnt be able to folow the cntour of the ground...so i guess it depends on what your doing with it.

Murph, You say that you use a CUT for estate snow removal and ice control, may I ask what you do for ice control? I have the front mounted snow blower on my JD which I use to clear the drive, and if needed I put potassium chloride in a lawn spreader to melt ice. Am looking into spreader for the 3pt.-but if I go that route it has to be big enough to ballast the blower. Just curious as to what you and anyone else uses.

Hydraulic parts are fairly generic and maybe a hydraulics shop could match the old ones. Parts manuals sometimes give parts before and after some production year or for different international areas. It can't be tricky.

Just the word 'clicking' reminds me of over-running clutches. If that were it, it should only click when engine rpm is reduced and an implement is attached. Don't know why installing a mid-pto would change how an over-running clutch works though.

In general, there's apt to be a bit of grinding when engaging a pto that has a heavy implement attached. Low idle rpm helps and so does waiting for a bit with the clutch in before engaging the pto. My pto is live and it will grind a bit sometimes. I sense when that's going to happen and stop. Then I let the clutch out a bit to give the TX another spin and wait for it to stop. Often that changes the position of the sliding gears and allows it to engage normally.

Keep in mind that the Foton does not meet Australian standards, has a cab that is not certified and is in the process of being taken on by CNH.

Consider the new Merlin's sold out of Melbourne, 20k less that any competitor and fully certified.

DRankin, you're right, very little room; particularly when backhoe is on, only 1/2 inch clearance.

Green, good website, they have the right size & price, but it will hit backhoe frame. Did you ever build the loader rake we talked about some time ago (see my pictures)? I've been using mine alot and it is absolutely fantastic. I was planning on a design for the 3-point, but find that on the loader bucket, using it pointing down and going backward I can collect enormeous amounts of pine needles and branches, then level the bucket to pick the stuff up. I also can easily pick up logs, rocks, etc because it goes so far underneith them I don't need to push up against things to get them into the bucket. Only problem is bending the tines (they're 3/8 X 3/4 inch cold rolled steel). I hit rocks under the dirt and they bend - but a 5 ft pipe straightens them out easily.

I won my tractor at auction at a very good price. Not my fault that they started the bidding so low. When I arrived at the dealership (the same day the auction ended mind you) to pay with cash they treated me like I had gotten "too good" a deal.<br>

I received no instruction on the tractor. My rookie tractor questions were treated as stupid. When I went to close the deal after the tractor was finally readied, the salesman was nowhere to be found. I had to ask for everything and keep the process going the entire day.<br>

The real problems started when I got home and the "new tractor" happiness left. The voltage regulator failed the second day. Luckily I'm handy and diagnosed this problem because Corriher was no help with this either. Then, instead of looking up a part number and quoting a price I had to mail them the broken part. 3 weeks later they contact me and say they have my $200.00 part from Japan.<br>

Of course, I had already found an alternative for half that price and refused the item. The parts manager got upset that he had done "all that work" and hung the phone up on me. I of course called right back and let him have both barrels. Yes, at this point I was cussin!! You would be too.<br>

In the past three weeks the exhaust manifold cracked and the muffler fell off. Corriher said, "just go have it welded cause those are expensive to replace." The fanbelt broke, close inspection while replacing this I noticed damage to the fan blade and radiator, and I replaced the front tires because they were dangerously dry rotted. OK, I accepted the tires that way, but I wouldn't have sold anyone a tractor with those tires.<br>

My point is this. If you expect good customer service and a smooth transaction then don't buy from Corriher. They also took the liberty to delete my post from their own forums and blame the entire situation on me.<br>

I also looked at the Grand L 50 Cab model. The local dealer said that you can not mount a backhoe onto the Grand L cab Kubota tractor. SOmething to consider if you have a need for a backhoe. I don't know if this also applied to aftermarket Mfg's as well.

Any comments on Grand L cab tractors
