Here they're only required on equipment when working in the forests. Somebody with a couple of acres of grass to mow isn't in violation without one. IMHO all equipment should have them as standard equipment, but they don't. Some manufacturers don't even have them available. They weren't available from Kubota on the 3130's when I was shopping, but I think they have them now. If a manufacturer doesn't offer them an aftermarket one can usually be installed.

There are two different types of 'drum' machines.

A drum CHIPPER is what we are talking about here.

A drum or 'tub' GRINDER is what is shown in my pic. # 4.

They are very different animals indeed.

A chipper uses a sharpened knife much like a chisel to reduce the size of the material, other than the blade adjustment particle size is not variable.

A drum or tub grinder uses carbide teeth much like a stump grinder or pavement grinder has to chew the material into small pieces. By using various screens each with different sized mesh openings you can adjust how small the pieces need to be before they can escape.

Because a grinder uses dull carbide teeth to do the job, soil, or even rocks go right through it. Our's will take a stumps with rootballs up to 9' in diameter whole without even missing a beat. Rocks meet the same fate as wood, they just make more noise. Pallets, crates, concrete blocks or asphalt can easily go through it to.

The picture is a cleanup following a big ice storm, that was what was left of the arboretum at a University up here.

BTW, the piles of mulch you see there are that days production only.

Do you remember how many Ponys & Excels Hyundai sold, or how many Lada's, Skoda's and Samaras there used to be?

Ever think about how quickly they disappeared?

There is a certain percentage of the population that will ALWAYS buy based on price point alone. Period.

Low price rarely equates to economy, unfortunately that is NOT a widely held opinion.

Five years ago I bought a new, NH 3010 and it had 13 hours on it but other than that is was in new shape. I did ask the salesman about the hours, he said that it had been to a couple of tractor shows, Ho-Hum.
Six months later I got a call from the dealer to tell me there was a recall on the engine and then they replaced it so I started a year later with a new engine and no hours on it.
When my new TC33-D was delivered 5 months ago the fuel gauge was on empty, the guy who brought it came back the next day, (while I was gone) filled the tank and left 5 gallons also.
My dealer bends over backwards on service, they loaned me a trailer to take my tractor in for the 50 hour checkup. Last week I was trying to get a tooth bar or put teeth on my bolt on cutting edge, the parts guy tried everything but we could not find the right shanks or teeth, he finally sent me to the Case dealer where I found a tooth bar that fit my bucket. After all the fooling around they did for me I felt a little guilty so I called and had them make up a hydraulic top link for me. They also know that this is my second new tractor in 5 years, they stock parts for my Ford 600 and they sold some of my equipment when I sold my farm.

I bought a new TC33D 5 months ago with 7308 loader, super steer, Ag tires, deluxe 3 PT. hitch, tilt/telescope wheel, swivle seat and 2 remote hydraulic connections. $18,500 delivered.
I have about 130 hours on it so far and the only problems I have had are those wires coming lose under the rear axle. I did put a jumper on the seat switch so the engine does not shut off if I stand up while running.

I complain about my Cadets at times but they are really good machines. My machines are older, all have power lift and hydrostats while the latest (2) also have power steering. I have (6) of them, the oldest being about an early 70's and the latest mid 90's. I do a number of repairs on them but think my tennants are somewhat the problem. About 3 weekends ago my two tennants broke 3 lawnmowers, 2 tillers and 2 weedwackers. Cub parts are available in rural areas where the Cadet dealers also sell Case/IH tractors. If you purchase the low end machines from a mass merchant like TSC, Lowes or HomeDepot; I'm not sure about parts and repairs. In my area the local JD dealer sets up and repairs the machines for HomeDepot. His price is the same and has more models to choose from. Recently I was looking and replacing some machines, my local Cub dealer didn't want to sell me the GT 2186 but rather the GT2521 ($3499.00) The newer models I have are more comparable to the GT3204 which is about another $1,000.00 for pwer steering and hydraulic lift. If you are going to put a snow blower on it or front blade those are nice features. If you don't want to spend the extra money for an upper end unit, look for a good condition used machine.

Initial design and integrity is in the eye of the beholder, and anyone here can look at any machine and pick out flaws. Quality is difficult to quantify. If you are rating ergonomic quality I'd say Kubota is poor (my opinion). If you are rating reliability I'd say Kubota is excellent. Ain't none of 'em perfect.

Everyone,The clutch problem turned out to be the welds on the clutch lever arm.They were just gradually giving away and therefor rotating on the shaft.All internal clutch parts were up to spec and like brand new, virtually no wear.Thank you all for the input and I now am an expert on break one in the middle to do a clutch.

Where can I get a rim for a m4900su. The tractor came with mismatched rear rims and have been trying to locate one. Kubota reigonal office says none until Aug 15. Its been over a month now that I brought this to their attention.This is a 2004 with 50 hours.

Lack of power.I tested the pump lots of flow removed motor took it to hydralic shop.It was condemmed.New one $2,000.00 Canadian,from Ingersoll,I went through the Case dealer.
I tell you now Ive got power coming out of me ars.Its great.
Everything is so expensive for this thing,axel seals 2 $30.00 each thats crazy.

Dear Goodrep.

I would be interested in your opinion once you visit the factory. My understanding is that it is about four to six hours drive from Qingdao air port.

I beleive you would have to purchase the tractors through a trading company in china.

I have been chatting with a cathay Zang from sino tractor zhang email sinotractor-at-263.net

Cathay has been more than helpful.

I do not know about EPA laws (as in Australia it does not apply to tractors)
But I do know you can get perkins engines which may be more aligned with your epa requirements

Morning Chris, no problems at all I have a LK3054 just wanted to know in case something came up. But it turns out I am going to try and sell it. Mine is an '03 with just 44 hours on it and 6 implements still like new. Good luck with yours.

My 7274 did the same thing & it had nothing to do with the starter at all
It needed to be rewired with a relay in connection with the ignition that cost about $15.00
I did it myself a year ago & have had no problem since.
I went through all the cables,removed the starter had it tested etc
But Ted at abbeywoods on this board led me in the right direction to fix the problem.

If the horsepower ratings are at about the same RPMs, the torque difference will be the same ratio as the horsepower difference. If you have 10% more horsepower at the same RPMs, you have 10% more torque. The RPMs the two engines are rated at is the only variable.

I think I remember something about how full the fuel tank should be when replacing the filter. Has something to do with the flow from the return line. Can't remember if it supposed to be more than half full or less, but I think less. I need to dig up the procedure and look. I have been lucky enough not to run out of fuel....yet.
