I am glad for you, May you have many happy and safe years with this new tractor. I have had my 4110 for 2 1/2 months. After a day at work, driving my tractor is a relaxing treat for me.
I also agree that this tractor point.com broad is very interesting and educational. A big thanks goes to all the tractor experts out there. The ideas and advice from everyone is great for tractor safety and use.

The tach needle on my year 2000 Cub Cadet 7260 compact tractor is swinging wildly so that it is often hard to know exactly what the RPM's read. I see that there is a cable that runs from the instrument panel to the engine. How might I fix this? It was not acting this way when I first bought it.

I am losing fluid from the auxiliary (remote) hydraulic valve at the rear of my 2000 Cub Cadet 7260 compact tractor, just above the PTO shaft under the PTO shield. At least I think this is what it is. It is a cylinder surrounded by ball bearings. Normally I believe that there was a cover of some sort that covered this valve since I never noticed it before fluid began spewing out. I checked my transmission dip stick and it was low, so I assume the fluid was the transmission/hydraulic fluid I was losing. Any ideas on what may have happened and how I might fix it?<br>

I completely agree with 2210jd. I sit on one of these babies all day long and a FEL is the most useful attachment on the planet. With that said a blade certainly has its uses. If you are pushing (ie angling) snow it will be superior and will really shine when you are making anything to grade (like loose gravel or dirt). If you are mostly clearing snow you aill be fine, but if wish to landscape or move raw goods you may want to look at a 210.

Hey Guys,
Everyone seems to be missing one thing. Blades are great but the most important parts of the mulching kit are the baffles. I have a 42 inch T series and a 60 inch BX2200, both with Kubota mulch kits. Keep any blades sharp and the baffles amke sure the clippings are chopped up.

You might check out the used tractor price guide at machinerylink dot com. I think the prices there are mostly dealer asking prices and not actual selling prices or private party prices so they are on the high side. They list 1964 as the first year for the 3020, but you can do a serial number lookup. Not sure what the loader and blade are worth.

My worst bee story happened in 93'. I was weedwacking a steep hill at a condo complex. We used to weedwack it once a month. the grass was about 2 foot high. At the bottom of the hill was a road that lead to the condo complex, Not a town road. So here I am on a nice HOT August day weedwacking along & there was this Rhododendren bush in the middle of the hill. At this piont I was dehydrated & it was about 95 degrees out! So I started to weedwhack around the bush not seeing the basket ball sized white face hornets nest in the middle of it! So I hit the bush with the weedwacker & the first hornet charged at me & got me right in the forehead! knocked me off my feet & both me & the weedwhacked went tumbling down the hill into the road where I laid unconsious. One of my guys found me lying there & took me to the ER. I looked like frankinstien for about 2 days. The doc told me the white face is a pretty toxic hornet.

That definitely sounds like you need the rears turned, new pads and check that they are functional; they could be siezed up. They should also be able to give you an estimate of life left on the fronts as well. Sounds to me like the dealer needs to put some work into this unit before it becomes YOURS!!! It needs to be done BEFORE you take delivery!!

Don't know about goats grazing on it---ours didn't. We used borax used for laundry (had a team of oxen or horses on the front of the box). Just sprinkle it on and voila!

Sounds like you have a self-diagnosing controller. If is anything like mine it is bad. Mine is called a Prodigy by Drawtite. It's a high-end piece of you-know-what. It has been replaced once and still doesn't work like it should. I'm going back to the old reliable---and less-expensive--- one that doesn't have all the fancy electronics which are prone to failure.

I have both a NH TC33D (no loader) and a NH LS180 skid loader. Each has their place. And one isn't better than the other. But if I had to choose I would go with the skid loader IF it had tracks--which are a MUST in soft ground.

I just got and SD1840 and want to change all the fluids. Does anyone know what a suitable gear oil is for this tractor? Same question for hydraulic oil. <br>

It looks to me like each wheel has its own sump plus the gearbox sump, plus the engine sump. Are there others? Does the hyduaulic pump share oil with the main gearbox? It looks like the suction line connects to it.<br>

Sounds like what you really want is the standard issue Klingon Death Phazer for the front of that bad tractor.

Seriously, if 'mechanical intervention' is your method of choice then all you need is a good solid box blade with scarifiers. A couple of passes with the scarifiers down to loosen anything not scared out of the way, then a little dragging with the blade and you will have a first class fire break.

Just be sure to save the beer for the 'admire the finished job' phase, alcohol & diesel don't mix very well.

Hello everyone. I have an opporunity to obtain a 2001 John Deere 455 lawn tractor. This machine features a 22hp Yanmar diesel. It has 106 hours. Also included is the 60" heavy duty belly mowing deck, glass cab w/wiper, 48" front mount John Deere snowblower, John Deere roller (water filled), couple sets of blades, rear weights and an aerator(not spelled correct?).<br>
I am trying to put a dollar value on this complete setup. I have known the owner for years, and know he has his local Deere dealer do all the service on it.<br>
Everything is in excellent, ready to work condition.<br>
Any input is greatly appreciated. I am having a hard time putting a $ amount on the package.<br>
