Amen to that MLS.<br>My Father in Law prides himself on re-soling old inexpensive shoes over and over again for 5 to 10 years. He has a friend who does it

Yet his feet always hurt him? I wonder why?
We all get our pleasure in different ways!
I guess if we are going to talk about this topic we would have to frame it in a context like:
Best Filter Product based on Quality of Product

Best Filter Value

Most economical Filter

etc.....
I think then we might get different answers to the question.
I only mentioned the quality issue so that readers would not be confused by this post that OEM and other more expensive filters were identical to cross ref cheap filters, I think that is an important distinction. Each of us has to decide what pleases us the most. Only a little while ago I thought that these cheap filters were just loss leaders of high quality items at the big discounters, I now think that these are "formerly high quality" items now sold at low prices to match a now more "medicore" quality standard. Once again taking advantage of the consumers long standing "brand" recognition.
No big deal for me as I always buy new equipment anyway.

OK, I get the sense that the 455 may be on the small end for what I want to do (I placed the original question). Would a 790 work well for this application? Would not having HST on the 790 be a large drawback on both operating and resell? Would I need to get 4WD with a 790?

I am working on a friends Long 445 tractor. I am having trouble figuring out the three point hydraulics. I have changed the fluid and blead the system and it will work for a short while but then it quits. If I bleed it again it will work again for a while then stop again. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. B Ford.<br>

Brent, That blade is big but a good choice. The only way a three point hitch blade digs is from a good edge and the weight of it to penetrate the ground I think you made a good choice. Art

I just bought a TC29 about 4 months ago. I paid $10,750.00 for it and a <br>SQ60 Bush Hog brand 5' mower. I purchased it in Tennessee. The tractor <br>doesn't have a loader on it. I really like it so far.

I had an electrician give me a bid on an emergency power circuit installed at the main service panel...$250 complete. I didn't think that was too bad of a price so I'll have him put it in. I too went around and around on the backfeed issue. In my opinion - don't bother, there are relatively cheap and easy fixes out there that would probably save you much time, hassel and money down the road.

Jim,<br>I apologies if I seemed vague, From the beginning, The NH was at a disadvantage. For two main reasons, I know only of one dealership within an hours drive. And two, the NH dealer wasn't interested in hauling the unit to our house for a demo. Not only did JD & Kubota bring the units to our house, they told us we could try em out for a day or so, at our leisure.<br>The NH dealer in question is a small family owned business with only a handfull of people. To his credit, I can understand his excuse, in that he is the only sales/parts guy on a Saturday, thus leaving the store really isn't an option. On the other hand, that's not my problem, nor would I be getting the unit cheaper because he's a one man show. Unfortunately, NH's disadvantage had nothing to do with the tractor itself. To me, a purchase like this is much more than aquiring a piece of metal, intangebles can make up a good bit of the value. Just ask your wife, A $1.99 rose to us..is worth a whole lot more than that to her.

I would agree that just about anything over 4 inches is fire wood..except the acres and acres of dead and downed pine/hemlock that I need to gradually cleanup. A lot of this stuff is dead and dry so I would imagine that it would not tax the chipper too much, as long as it would physically fir into the chipping mechanisn.<br>Anyway thanks for the response(s) everyone...how about some price comparisions or brand recommendations?...I know Woods makes good stuff, but they do tend to be expensive.<br>Thanks.

why would anyone want to cross an inexpensive but vital item like an oil filter. also if anyone has seen the info on oil filters that were sectioned and tested youwould see that fram has one of the worst and cheapest made filters on the market. dont scrimp on one of the most important items on your tractor. it is like your kidneys how well would you operate on ones that are third rate. <br>just my 2 cents<br>Good Luck<br>

You may have made your decision already, but for what it's worth, I bought a used '92 1920 with 200hrs on it with a front loader, back blade, snow blower and cultivator with the opt larger rear tires...I paid $13,200. I believe that I go a pretty good deal. This machine has the 12X4 transmission, which to me is not as nearly as nice as the shuttle shift. What did you wind up getting?

I have a late 80's JD 1050 4WD tractor with a JD 80 Loader. The hydraulics don't seem to be what they used to be and I need some help in locating the problem. I can raise the bucket and let it up after I shut down. It takes a long while fo it to slowly drop to the ground so I don't think that the problem is in the cylinders. It's almost like the high pressure bypass is set too low and I don't have much power for lifting. I'm also looking for a repair manual to help me out.
