I purchased the l-35 as a compromise knowing I needed more power for my projects at home but size was an issue for tight access.I am having horsepower issues when using my 8" pto chipper,bush hog and 1,100 lb. scraper and was wondering about installing a turbocharger.I would love to trade up to an l-48 and have hst over the glide shift trans to boot but would rather invest in a compact dozer which could tackle the heavier jobs.I purchased a new toyota forklift so my tractor size isn't limited anymore.

cobra, if you are turning the steering wheel and the tires arnt turning then the pump/hydrolics arnt the problem. open the hood and watch the steering shaft.the shaft connects to the steering box with a u-joint or rag joint or a splined shaft( im not a tractor mech.) make sure the box is turning with the shaft. it could be as easy as a missing lock bolt that vivrated loose. dlc

broken, I hate to say it but I just recieved my tc48 and only have 4 acres. had a 1925 with a woods 750 that i just sold, backhoe was plenty strong just not long enough. I have to put in a new septic(*hitty job)and the wife wants a 3 car garage built. digging the foundation is gonna require hp,digging the septic requires depth,now i have both.

Instead of a drip system, which still puts the water on the surface where most of it will evapourate unless it is buried under several inches of mulch, try putting tubes in the ground near the tree.

If you use 1/4" steel pipe all you need for a tip is a bolt with the head ground to a point. Drill the bottom 3" full of small holes and shove a piece of garden hose with a male tip on it over the top of the pipe as a pigtail to connect it to the supply line. If you're just using gravity you might just connect the lin to the tank and leave it. It will take a lot longer but it will put the water where the tree needs it, in it's roots.

Don't put the water more than a foot deep, 6" is best.

I was at property this weekend mowing clover, running my KK 5 ft through clover was fine, then hitting a few inch and half sapplins along edge I was bustin pins like never before. the cutter is light duty rated for max of 40 hp and the 5205 is pumping out 48hp pto. would that cause the breakage? Use to mall bigger sapplins with the 790 with out so many pin snaps????? Also pins breakin are surely helping save the gear box, would it be Ideal to run under pto speed so as to keep cutter more in it's hp range?

got my tc48/759/la18, couldn't be happier.however i didnt get the bucket for the bachoe so i havent tried that yet.I don't get that upset because I know the dealer doesn't make it,he has to buy it.I should see it tomarrow then I can have some play time!I just sold my new holland 1925 34 hp. For all you guys deciding on one tractor or another,more hp is better.buy as much hp you can afford. it makes the job faster,easier, and more fun. maybe I can put up some pics if I can figure out how thanx to all,this is a great board

Bmeyer... I think Mike may have made his tool in pic #4... but the same thing is available commercially and pretty cheap and is referred to as a sub-soiler.

Tom, we have just such a beast at the shop. We made it based on some online plans. It works very well for laying pipe, cable, etc., as long as the ground isn't too tough. It won't go any deeper than about 18" though, but if the shank were longer it could go deeper than that.

The shearpin is a 1/4" grade 2 bolt that prevents the blade from kicking back up like a rudder on a sailboat. The blade pivots at the top and the shear bolt goes through the frame and blade at a variety of distances down from the top, the further down you put the bolt the more force it takes to break it.

I think I still have a drawing of it, let me know if you want it.

You can achieve nearly the same result (moving the 3 point very slowly) by fine tuning the drop valve and then reducing the engine to idle anytime you need a fine adjustment when raising it.

I'm a little confused here (not that it's necessarily anything to do with this thread of course) but the description of the problem isn't really clear to me.

I'm guessing that the lower lift arms won't spread far enough to hitch onto the mower. If that is indeed the case, then the solution could be as simple as turning the pins around so that they point inwards instead of out, or for that matter, just reverse one so that the mower can slide sideways into the hitch.

I hope that helps, it's lots cheaper than a quick hitch.

I have a Woods RD84 RFM and I sing the same high praises as jonathan on this piece of equipment. My dealer had Land Pride sitting on the lot but I couldn't get past the rust and already flat tires to even begin to think of buying one of those. Besides, I already have a Woods rotary cutter and knew what a fine piece of equipment that has been.

I've not experienced the problem some suggested with the tractor tires mashing down the grass and the mower not being able to lift it for cut. It REALLY does a nice job.

I would also suggest the front scalper roller and solid tires. While I've not seen the scalper roller hit very often, I know it's there just in case. Even at 84" the deck follows the contour of the terrain very nicely.

My dealer suggested the solid tires and I'm glad I listened. They don't give the mower dack quite the ride as a pneumatic tire but after watching how those tires have to spin around at times when turning, I believe he was right when he said you MAY roll one off. My largest mowing job (about 10 acres) is mostly in a large field I'm grooming to become yard area and it is still pretty rough The solids have not given me a problem.

If you do go with pneumatics, be sure they have tubes or put tubes in them. You can then get away from having to fill them with so much air to keep them from rolling off that you end up with what is basically a solid tire anyway.

Tom, I took no offence at all, I was just wanting to make sure you understood what I had intended to say, thats all.

I have no doubt at all that in most cases there is genuine concern at the factory over a bad dealer.

However, in most cases I also believe the factory think it wiser to give a bad dealer the boot than hold his hand and make them behave.

Here is what I found.Clutch lever arm welds had come undone and the arm was not fully rotateing the shaft. Therefore the thrust bearing was not fully engageing the tabs on the pressure plate. I am going to weld it up and see what happens. I'll keep you posted.

What kind of problems have you been having with the Kioti?
I'm looking seriously at the DK65, but trying to get as much information as I possibly can on the Kioti line. I sure don't want to make a mistake and buy into a problem. Have you had any major problems or a bunch of small ones?

Some tractors tend to over-heat when doing heavy work on hot days. It's possibly normal and then slower ground speeds may be needed. I wonder if it's making black exhaust smoke when it seems to be over-heated and if it blows out coolant?<br>

There are some things to check. I think that using 50/50 coolant cools better than water alone. I'd keep the rad screen clean and the fins blown out and check the fan belt for tightness. I'd also check that the upper rad hose gets hot and maybe look for flow through the cap while it's at operating temperature and that the right oil is used. You might pressure check the cap and flush the system.<br>

If these things don't help, there are some engine and fuel things to check such as exhaust obstructions and valve clearances.<br>

Thanks for the heads up on the size. I'd prefer the 48", but since what I'll be using it for does not have to be done quickly or in one day, I'm sure the smaller RC will be easier on the tractor.

b8fish, the shaft problem might just be something on the earlier production 2210's. I'll talk to the dealer about it, as I don't have the iMatch.

Ditto! Good job Hardwood! The smallest baler horsepower requirement I can remember is about 30pto horsepower. Those old balers plunger speed was a lot slower then the new ones and I'd say the size tractor you have would get about a half a foot push from it if you could get it to spin.

I never have that problem with my 54" deck. I didn't go out and look before posting this but could the link adjusters be rotating and changing the adjustment while being run without the deck on??
