If you have a laptop computer you can get software and adapter called AutoTap. A quick Google search on the Internet will turn it up. As I remember it is less than $400. I have a scan tool but it would cost me about $8-900 to add a new cartridge for it. I will go the software route when I get new vehicles.

Depending on the current configuration of your tractor, adding rear remotes can get to be a liitle expensive. Yet after spending the money on the remotes, you have them for other applications besides the log spltter, (top and tilt). Running off your tractor hydraulics works fine, you really don't need 20 tons to split most any log. I prefer to spend the money on a multiple use applications, like the rear remotes, instead of something that is captive to one piece of equipment.

Your dealer and the tractor specs are the best guides as to whether the tractor hydraulics are suitable for the splitter. If they are, I would spend the money for the remotes and run off the tractor instead of for another hydraulic system captive to the splitter.

Probaly not your fault. Detent spring failure or debris jamb. Let the dealer deal with it under warranty.

If the 7610 is the 2410, what the 7800 is to the 2910, there is a good chance there could be some swapping. I got a parts manual for a 2910 and compared it to the parts manual for the 7800. After spending a bunch of time looking at the two tractors at a dealer lot, I decided there were some upgrades that would be possible. The fenders, Headlight Assembly, back body panel, Seat, and three point equipment were easy adds or swaps.

The headlight assembly isn't sealed beam, but has higher watt bulbs than the 7800. The lens for the 2910 wraps to the side of the hood, where the 7800 are inset lenses. It is part no. 6C140-54142 for the 2910.

I never priced the three point equipment new since I had the ooportinity to get it used. I can look up the part nos. if you are interested.

THE VERDICT : It ended up being the *positive* battery cable from the battery to the starter .... corrosion enough that it didn't let current pass to even run the lights ... but it let enough thru that my test meter showed 12vdc .... also explains why a jump start didn't help.
Moral of the story : Never assume anything .. except that it's always going to be what you "thought" the problem was NOT.

The 4110 is in at the dealer so it the bucket and rear blade but not the deck. They seemed not to want to turn lose of the tractor with out the deck. <br>
So to help feel the time the neighbor has 5 ton of gravel to spread by hand so I helped out on my 455 fun but not as much as it would of been with a 4110. <br>

What would you say on a scale of 1 to 100 would it be to compairing the 455 to a 4110 in spreading the 5 tons of gravel. I spune the tiers and only could pick a about 200 or #s becasue of it. <br>

Not sure you need to take the whole tractor to a dealer, but I would suggest taking the hydraulic arm cylinders into a reputable repair shop. They can test the cylinders and tell you if there is excessive leak-by before you have them rebuilt. If either cyliner is bad, the circuit won't hold pressure. If it is just one cylinder, they can tell you that, but I would still have them both done.

If I understood your problem correctly ealier in the thread, you have good pressure at the three point and the bucket circuit. This would usually mean that the pressure relief is ok, and you other hydraulics check out. The two most likely sources of trouble fron there would be the cylinders and the valve spool. If you were able to switch the valves between the lift and curl circuits, you could further narrow it down to the cylinders or valve by elimination. Start simple, work towards the complicated. Most often, it will be the seals in the cylinder(s), since they are exposed to abrasion from soil and grit build up on the shaft. If the shaft is scored or shows signs of corrosion, you may need to replace the cylinder. Any good hydraulic shop would be able to tell you if the cylinders should be rebuilt.

I agree you don't want to spend money on parts you don't need, but by carefully eliminating possibilities, you should be able to narrow down where the problem is.

Good luck, if you can offer some information on the condition of the shaft, type of storrage the tractor gets, and hours on the loader, it could help diagnose the source. I still suspect the cylinders and or seals.

You may be able to fit an arm rest kit LVB25501 from the 4710 seat to your seat. I installed the old style arm rest kit on my 4410 seat which is the same seat installed on the 4710. I would suggest comparing seats between these two tractor at a dealership first to determine if you can make the kit work. The armrest kit is listed as an obsolete part but there is still stock available. The MSRP cost is $109.20. Good luck! Show us some picks if you can make it work!

That is a very good point Murf. WE hate to have to tell costumers they are going to have to pay for the repairs to there new tractor. That is why every one should read and understand there ops manual completely no matter how experienced you may or may not be. Every tractor is different and guidelines between the same units may change form year to year. Every thing that you need to know is in those books. If you have a question that is not answered by your book ask your dealer. Truthfully the dealer is really the only person besides a factory rep that you should trust when it come to operating your unit under the said warranty guide lines. Some of us here may be able to give general ideas but it is who is going to be doing the work on your tractor that will have the last say. Even with me being a New Holland tech I can really only speak for my store but even then I comes down to my service manager to make the last call.

That still seems like there was some other discounts in the works there too. From what I have seen m.s.r.p. is about 15 to 20% over what the dealer has to pay corporate for the tractor. That price between dealers is roughly the same but varies by about 5 to 10%. Depending on certain variables. Size is one of them as far as units sold per year, but there are others that are not as obvious. Then there is the variable if the dealer actually goes by msrp or not. O.k. so maybe $2500 is not out of the question but it is very unlikely MOST of the time. It really depends what the salesman is will to take out of his/her commission. All those little perks like hats delivery fuel ect all come out of the commission of the salesman. As in our case the salesman pays $62 an hour for delivery, $59.85 an hour for shop time ie. setup and installation of loaders, mowers ect. Your price also depends on how fast the shop works to get your piece ready for delivery. If you have a slow guy in the shop = more $$ fast guy in the shop= less money. I can go on and on but hopefully my idea is there.

Please dont take my post wrong, I was not trying to comment back about your post, and I thought I knew what you meant so no problem. I was not trying to be a smart ass factory worker defending the company. I was more or less just letting everyone here know that in OUR case anyway, sometimes the feedback does get back to the factory and if you are able to contact a upper management guy who cares, it may help someone else in the future. I am one of the easiest going guys around and dont take offense to most comments because everyone has an opinion and in some cases both opinions are right! I know better than to confront most of you guys, your knowlege is priceless to me and I appreciate every answer you guys give ,me!

How would you think a subsoiler would work for getting a trench about 12-14" underground for wiring? I am copying one that I see at King Kutters web site. I was thinking that it may just be the ticket for getting down that deep and not disturbing too much ground in the area?

Yes I still have to get off my bx1500 but I was tired of having to loosen the lower arm adjusting rods just to move them off the pins. Then when the new attachment was on tightening them up to hold it.

With the quick attach I got from Northern I can backup and hook the pins without having to adjust the lower links. Usually the longest part of the hookup is connecting the PTO shaft.

Ken, I am be NO means a furniture guy but after many years of moving around in the military and the "customary" scratches and dents that come with each move; we have had pretty decent luck with the wax furniture repair sticks if the scratches are not to extensive. There are a LOT of varying sades of furniture wax repair sticks to choose from and experiment with. I work the closest matching color I can find into each scratch and then gently buff over the area to remove as much of the excess as possible without removing the repair. It is not a professional grade repair but in most cases, I have found that it was a very good looking repair and difficult to tell where the original damage was at a glance. It was a bunch less cost wise than having it refinished. In most cases I would think that the least amount of disturbance of the orginal wood and finish would be the best route to follow. Just my 1.5 cents worth. ;o)
