Sounds like you are doing exactly what I had in mind. I too noted that peak torque was in the 2000-2200 range for my engine and figured I would be doing no harm but wanted the thoughts of some others. I've got about 300 hrs. on it so I'm not doing this because I need to worry about plugging along all day at high RPM's. I also realize the mower won't be spinning at optimum grass cuttung speed but again, it's not a situation where I need it to be, nor do I feel it will harm anything on the mower side if it is run slower.<br>

I think sometimes we tend to overlook how other related equipment performs -vs- our PTO driven equipment. I know all my push mowers, edgers and garden tractors have throttle controls on them that slow the driven componenets at the same time as engine speed decreases and they work perfectly fine slower in certain situations.<br>

I just didn't want to get into the mindset that if I didn't "wind 'er up to PTO speed" I was going to have a PTO clutch burn up or something.<br>

I still think you are blowing fluid past a bad spool valve or seals in the cylinders. The more you crank up the pressure relief, there more degredation you are going to see. My first guess is still the cylinder seals. Probably should stop cranking the pressure relief and test the cylinders and spool valve. Good Luck.

If you take it to a good antique furniture refinisher he would gently hand buff out the scratches and make a homemade blend of stains to match and work in for desired darkness and depth of color. (or take a drawer to a good paint store that would computer match the stain) If it has a urethane finish, that is more difficult to match in terms of depth of gloss and clarity. That would usually need to be done on an entire section as in your case the "top". One or two coats over the reworked area and very lightly sanded/steel wool buffed and a final coat over the entire section. LOL

Have noticed previous posts regarding FEL float feature "losing" detent setting.<br>

Seems most have come after just a few hours of failure, suggesting that x-percentage of these units might just be lemons that tend to fail early if they're going to fail, much like a piece of electronic equipment.<br>

Now my 3130HST has lost the "detente" feature with just over 20 hours on clock. VERY happy with machine otherwise, but wondering if others have noticed same thing with regard to an early failure of this feature.<br>

The bucket still floats OK, just have to keep the joystick pushed forward all the time to keep it active. Assuming doesn't hurt anything to do this before addressing "detent failure" with dealer.<br>

Got a lot of work I want to get done in the next few days, mostly with box blade and scraper blade, before tying up for repairs. I'm thinking of at least getting to the 50-hour servicing (that's probably be in the next couple of weeks) before contacting dealer about repairs, in case anything else pops up during break-in.<br>

Broken, you misunderstood my "Besdies, the factory really doesn't give two hoots how bad a dealer is, it's easier for them to replace a bad dealer than to train a bad one to do business properly." comment.

What I was trying to get across was that the factory doesn't care about your business attitude as far as they're not going to hold your hand and teach you HOW to be a good dealer. They will 'give you some rope' and if you don't straighten up the rope is lowering the factories sign down off the front of your shop and back onto the truck to take it up the road and hoist it over the NEW DEALERS place.

I know, I was told that my complaints about a certain dealer 'were the last straw' and was invited by the regional rep. & VP of sales & marketing to watch the sign come down at the old dealer's place and then go up the road for a little party as they hoisted a sign over at the NEW DEALERS yard a mile down the road.

That is pretty much it for the scarifiers, but the "tip", or cutting angle of the blade is as important as the scarifier depth. Tipping the box forward gives a more aggresive angle for the cutting edge and should be used for digging, grading, and moving soil. Tipping the box back is then used for final grading and smoothing. Adjusting the top link length will determine how aggressively the box blade will cut. That's why most prefer a hydraulic top link for box blading, you need to be adjusting the cutting angle to get a good finish on the grade.

JParker, that right, I've been subtracting the difference between the two. I have a friend you just bought a Loflin grapple which is a 60", so in the next week or so, I'am gonna hook up to it to get in idea of how it will be. Hawk, go to the boomer board and read "My experience with New Holland" or titled to that effect. It's a eye opener by far, but the bottom line, find a dealer you can deal with no matter what color you buy. Ken have a good weekend. Thanks for the input.

Brokenarrow, I'm also curious about your fimco sprayer. How far will it spray in a single stream? I'd like to find something that will spray up to maybe 50 feet and am suspicious that the electric pumps won't cut it.

I bought the "end of the lower link" style Easy Change extensions as well. Love them. That little bar works pretty well, but sometimes is in the way of the PTO.

I think a piece of 2x4 with hooks on the ends or unistrut would work just as well to hold the lower arms apart and could be farther from the impliment to avoid interference.

Yes, I still have to get off sometimes, but getting it all lined up is so much easier this way, and for many impliments you need to hook up the pto anyway.

I have more trouble getting my fat hands between the pto guard and the shaft to lock it in than with the 3pt now.

I was just catching up on the "controlling grass along fencing" post and saw comments about spraying CaCl. I didn't want to sidetrack that post, but this old one looked like a good place for this thought / question.

Spraying CaCl for snow melt / ice control sounds interesting. I assume you buy as solid, mix with water & apply. Is it very free from impurities, or how do you avoid clogging the sprayer nozzle?

Sounds like a neater, more accurate, less deadly (to grass & concrete) solution than many powdered melters or rock salt.

Or is this only for very large sprayers?

I have also have a brand new sidewalk with steps. I don't want to hurt the young concrete, but don't like breaking my ### after ice storms either. The genius that built the sidewalk followed the ground contour and only added a few steps where he had to so both the "flat" sections and steps both slope pretty heavily. They just replaced the damaged concrete, but went back just as before even after I asked about leveling it out some.

Prices - hot off the press. Also, B2910 to be discontinued in favor of B2930 Grande.

Prices just quoted to me yesterday by Canns-Bilco Kubota in SE PA. Both prices include folding ROPS, R4's and 60" Kubota LA402 loader but no state taxes.

B7800 HSD - $15383.

B2910HSD - $17452.

Canns-Bilco told me that there is a big Kubota national sales meeting this fall. They expect that the B7800 will stay but the B2710 (of which they sell zero) and the B2910 WILL BE DISCONTINUED. The replacement will be an even more loaded up version of the B2910 to be called the "B2930 Grande". They claimed that B2910's are becoming hard to obtain via dealer swaps and they wonder if Kubota in Japan is already making the B2930.

If you're drilling seed, just drag a chain behind the drill. We did for years with wheat and oats.

Broadcast seeding would need the harrow in my opinion.

Raised on a grain, hog, sheep farm....many moons ago.
