Any of the "Big Three" Blue, Orange, or Green build good equipment. I'll just go back to my old stance of picking the dealer before you pick the brand, having a good dealership to work with is 90% of your satisfaction with the product with any of the big three. I've been a Green tractor person for years with the same dealership. My 4000 tractors have had some ocasional problems, but nothing that the dealer was'nt happy to take care of. I've never driven a 790 or a 990 Deere, but from my knowledge of them they are a more basic tractor than the 4000 series. There was a recent discussion on the board about the smaller operator station on the 790 and 990 tractors being uncomfortable for a larger person to fit into. I'm a bit on the rotund order myself but I find the 4000 series to be plenty roomy for me. Have fun shoping. Frank.

If memory serves, the Maverick is a rebadged Jinma. That being the case, you should be able to get help from anybody that stocks parts for the JM200 class.

Your symptoms sound lots like a control valve that doesn't get the spool moved far enough or too far to be in the right position for full flow to the line. Check to see if perhaps a stick or something has got caught in the linkage from the control lever to the valve body, or a pin that has came out or something thats not letting the valve spool move properly. Other things could be a quick coupler with a broken or weak spring. Seems like if you kinked or mashed a line that the bucket would work hard in either direction. hope this helps. Frank.

I have a 2002 4400 that has a three position PTO. All the way forward is fully engaged, and the middle position is like freewheeling (for repositioning I guess). All the way to the rear is off.

I can't think of one area of a tractor that I can't think of some repair we have made for one reason or another from a fluke of some kind like what branches do.

The PTO is disengaged but the dash indicator is on. Igniton is lock out and when I jumped it at the starter it runs but the seat switch kills the tractor when you get off the seat. Is the PTO switch on the side of the transmission normally open or does it ground one of the wires when the PTO is disengaged? I have continuity at the switch in both the engaged and disengaged arms locations and I figured the switch is bad. I tried jumping the plug at the switch but that did nothing. Dealer offers no advice except "bring it in". Anyone with experience with this problem?

I still find myself using the grapple quite a bit. Trees that are larger than 5" or so get limbed and hauled to the firewood area, there are still a bunch of older slash piles that need cleaning up, and I use it to move bigger rocks around. I'm also using it to dig out a construction debris that the finish excavator bozo buried.

Pict is to small to tell if it is like my 419 loader. If it is it will stand by itself. There is a brace that runs from where the lift arms attach(piviot) to the bottom of the front guard on the tractor at an angle. When you begin to remove the loader this brace will move down and set on the ground, then the loader (all of it) will piviot and lift off the Square brackets (bottom ones by the brake and clutch petals) The loader assembly will be setting on the bucket and the brace. Unhook hydro lines and back tractor away. Is really simple. Actually takes less time to remove loader than it will to read this. Best thing to do is to go to Deere and have them show you. Wont take 2 min to remove it. DON'T BLINK or you may miss it. Hope this helps.

Pat: take the tractor apart and bring the oil seal to a bearing seal supplier such as Bearings Inc. Look in the Yellow pages for supplier. They will in all likelyhood be able to supply you with a sub that would be better than the original. The old seal has to come out in any event. LOL

It's worth remebering that most utility tralers are rated for a evenly distributed load on the bed of the trailer. They aren't necessary designed for concentrated loads. A tractor, or other wheeled piece of machinery will aplly concentrated loads to the trailer frame under it's wheels. You need to make sure the frame and bed of the trailer can handle the concentrated loads. In addition to the weight of the tractor, there is also impact from road travel. It would'nt be out of line to add 25% (or more) to the wheight of the tractor for impact loading to the trailer bed and frame. If the tractor weighs 3000 lbs, the trailer will se up to 3750lbs due to impacts, concentrated under the tractor tires.

We travel I-75 through Michigan often and see all kinds of crazy rigs on the road, carrying everything you can think of. There are always poor folks on the shoulder and in the median scratching there heads trying to figure out what to do next with their broken down rig, payload strewn accross the highway, and the family looking on. Those are amusing scenes when nobody gets hurt.

I do have a whole lot of throttle left. The maximum RPM on the tractor gauge is 3000 RPM's. Full throttle will just about put it to that limit. It just seems like it is over reving the engine by just watching the tach. I do think that will help my power issue though. I rarely run the tractor over 2100 RPMS. Another 500 RPMS will make a difference.

I might add that I used a single set of clothes that I never washed to put down the first 25 gallons. On the last day I had a pretty good idea that one of the cats had their way with my shoes. But, undeterred, I was committed to finishing in those clothes (Arrrgghhh!). I never felt so good as when I showered after the last gallon and threw the clothes out.

I am committed to choosing another set of clothes to stain the front of the house. I will not wash them for the duration of the work, no matter how many days it takes. This way I will have no friends and no places to go. Then I will relax by the pool. LOL!

If you have a moment it might be worthwhile to explain the slow starter turnover immediately after the shut down, which cleared in 10-minutes or so. I was assuming the stall was caused by hitting a stump rather then from over-heating but that the operating temperature may have been on the high side. The coolant level wasn't mentioned.

I have no particular investment in my long shot and it is a long shot. A better explanation should use all elements of the problem described. Hot engines do crank slow. A cracked compression release that causes a stall and then resets itself also seems quite a stretch. There are likely better shots then these.

I have several 3-point implements om dollies in the barn. It really is a back saver to roll them into position for hook-up, and out of the way after use. I find the dollie system works really well for me. Cos was about $30 a dollie.

I am considering buying a JD 850 4wd that currently has Ag tires on it. I checked w/ the local JD dealer and he quoted me a price of $1150 for new tires and rims to convert it over to turf tires (not counting mounting and installation). My questions are:<br>

1. Could I put industrial R4 tires on the rims that have the ag tires on now? If so what size? The dealer said there is no JD recommended size for the rims.<br>

2.How difficult is it to sell used tractor tires and rims? (in other words, is there a market for used and what could I expect to get for the tires and rims? The tires are not the original and are about 80% tread)<br>

Thanks for any help anyone can give me on this. The purchase of the tractor is going to be based on the how expensive it's going to be to convert the tractor over to either turf or R4 tires. Thanks again!
