I just picked up my new 7510 on friday and was bush hogging over the weekend. On Sunday, I noticed that even though I had the throttle all the way up, the RPM's on the tractor were not quite at where they should be to mow (it was at 2500 RPM rather than 2700 RPM). Do you guys think I need an adjustment? If so, should the adjustment be with the linkage or the throttle screw itself? When I move the throttle linkage while the tractor is off, it is touching both the bottom end screw and top end screw. <br>

I should mention that most standard buckets are sized such that if you're picking up any common material (wet or dry soil, gravel, etc) you shouldn't have any trouble lifting it.<br>

I didn't know where Colton was, but looked it up on mapquest so I do know :) Do you know where Banks is? We're about 15 minutes west of Hillsboro. Our land is third or fourth growth, and very dense. It was VERY hard work without the tractor, as it is now it's just hard work. Bless my wife for telling me to buy the equipment I wanted :) Are you planning to get a chipper? I'm finding it much easier when thinning to chip on the spot rather than to drag the slash out, pile it up and burn it.<br>

I have 2 acres in southern Indiana, it used to be a soybean field and is a bit lumpy in spots. Right now it is waist-high grass and weeds. I also have a 10 foot tall dirt pile leftover from building a pole barn I need to deal with, but I need some of that to fill in the ruts and lumps in the property plus fill in where they dug out the area for the barn too big. In the future I would like to put in a large garden plot, do some landscaping. The lot is flat and clear with no trees, stumps or large rocks.<br>

I was thinking of a JD 790 for its simplicity, it seems to be an old-school type tractor and being a total newbie to the tractor world that's fine with me. I was thinking of going with a FEL, 5-foot bush hog, grader box and a smaller cultivator, maybe a landscape rake too, eventually going to a finish mower after I get the property graded and smoothed out. <br>

Any thoughts would be appreciated...even advice on older John Deere models. I have looked at older Ford 8N/NAA/2000's, Massey 135's, crappy Jinma's, and some really beat-up Cub Cadet lo-boys for sale in the local area. <br>

I am a big guy, 300 pounds, and some of the sub-compact machines I've looked at just seem really uncomfortable, any big people out there like me your input is welcome on the comfort/ease of use of various machines even non-JD's.<br>

Lastly, anyone have any comments on JD dealers in the Louisville,Kentucky area (specifically Ray's Lawn & Garden in Sellersburg,IN which is the closest JD dealer to my property).<br>

I�m in absolute agreement. The tires I use are �trailer� tires with a rated load capacity of 1710 lbs each. I�ve seen a lot of trailers with �car� tires, which do not have the proper design for a trailer. In addition, I have see many tandem-axles trailers which were unsafe, either by poor design, poor construction or improper loading.

I�m not sure what my point is, other than, a single axle trailer, used as designed, within its rated capacity is a viable alternative to a tandem. However, if a larger margin of safety is required to cover overloading and misuse, then the tandem is probably the wiser choice.

As for trailer ratings, you are correct. The maximum gross vehicle weight rating of the trailer is determined by the �weakest-link� or in otherwords the �lowest rated" component, which in many cases is the person driving the pulling vehicle :-)

I can't say enough good things about Kubota. I would go with them over any brand. I just bought my second Kubota in 10 years. I looked at them all but Kubota never let me down before why not be loyal. We all have our opinion. Go sit on them all and see what feels right to you. Then look at the specs. You also need to see about service (if needed) and the dealers attitude to answering questions.

Murf, you seem to have some experience in these matters. Maybe some time, and in the right thread, you could explain just exactly what "the look" means. We have mentioned gestures and braille, sometimes when she gives me "the look", I get a little un-easy. I think I am supposed to.

We might be able to help with that seal, many parts of the 295 are in common with the 395 and 495 used in our KAMA tractors. Shoot me an email and I will respond with more info.

The 4110 Gear has different grease points than a 4110/4115 HST. Make sure you are looking at the correct picture.

I count 9 grease gun points on an HST model.

Wondering y'alls thoughts on this model (M4900SD). Putting a FEL on it also. <br>
I need a good overall tractor for shredding, a bit of dirt work, so I'll add a nice box blade later, too.<br>

Dealer has priced it at $19,199 + $4200 for FEL. I'll probably put a canopy and the turn down muffler kit on it also as we have lots of tree limbs to deal with. Is this a decent price?<br>

The 7800 has the same 3-range HST as the 2910. As far as the rear hydraulic block, I added two rear remotes to my B7800-f without a problem. The rear block makes it more convenient. The B7800-f is the model with folding ROPS and the mid-pto.

I still think the position control is probably the thing that would be missed the most. The 7800 has a Speed Set Lever that basically acts the same as the cruise control lever on the 2910. It allows you to set the speed without keeping your foot on the forward pedal, and disengages with the brake. The only difference is that you set the speed with the pedal first, instead of the cruise control hand lever.

I changed out and added the 2910 seat, body panels, and 3-point to my 7800. For the money I spent, I could have the 2910, and have position control with it. Take a good look at what you will be using it for, and whether you will have long seat times. That will help you decide which one you need.

I stress, they are both very nice machines, with great power to weight ratios.

I had a similar problem that the brakes would intermittently work but all the lights functioned correctly all of the time. I replaced the controller and the problem went away.

Tom, I think sectioning is a great idea, we do a similar thing, just on a bigger scale. One section is fresh stuff, one is aging, and the third is finished 'brewing' and is being used.

Thanks for the compliment, it is a big job, but a little effort at staying on top of it constantly makes it easier.
I have a few more projects I want to get done, some bigger, some small. The first one is to build a large natural-looking water feature in the center of the grass island in front of the house. The water will be pumped from the pond, go through the feature, then filter back down through the clear sand subsoil back to the ground water, aerating and cleaning it as it goes. I'm not sure it will be done this year, but the plans are almost finished.

Past that my wife wants a greenhouse, I think I'm going to put up a larger than normal one and put it over the pool as well to extend the season a little.

Our JD dealer told me on Friday that the Twenty series is an upgrade to their large frame tractors only. He said the small frame compact utility tractors (such as the 4110/4115, 2010, etc) will be upgraded in about three years. More power? Don't know.

Mike, tractor pricing is very regional. I just purchased a 12LA loader and a 914A MMM for my 1 year old TC24D. I added the loader and deck in June 2004, I paid $3850 for the loader and $2200 for the MMM. I got higher quotes from the internet NH sellers, so I bought from my local guy and he picked up my tractor, insalled everything and brought it back for those prices. Now what I get here in the heart of the Midwest may not be what you get somewhere else. The prices in the Northeast are typically at or even sometimes above "list" prices. The same seems to be true for some parts of the west.
