I JUST PURCHASED A MODEL 2185 WITH A MFG. DATE OF D175G8 DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT YEAR THIS TRACTOR WAS MADE IN?

The horsepower of the 4115 and the TC24 are closer. That's the reason I mentioned the 4115.

Thanks guys, and your right the sun set too soon yesterday.
I called my Kubota dealer, They are Midstate Equipment in Titusville, NJ. Heres the reason why I'm plugging there name: I called at 11am, they were going to send a truck by this afternoon to pick the machine up and fix it at the shop, which I though was good service. Then my sales guy called me back and said "were going to send a mechanic out and get it fixed today"!!! There about 18miles 40min from my home to boot. I'm pretty impressed. I'll let you know if this keeps up.

I've got a TC33D w/7308 FEL along with several other "goodies" and it works well for me here in Western PA on 32 acres. Just remember whatever machine you buy will have it's limitations. As long as you have enough machine to start with and realize what those limitations are, you'll do just fine.

When I put in the drywell in I was told they were NOT allowed when installing a new septic, however, they were allowed as an after-the-fact addition. In other words, a new septic system had to be rated to handle ALL of the waste water from the home. The tank was a preformed (1000 gallon?) concrete tank installed with lots of rock around it. The black spots in my leech field went away quickly but it didn't take long before I had problems with the drywell since so much water was going there. I then had to bring someone else in to add a 2'x2' trench about 75 feet long filled with rock and covered with straw on the downside of the drywell tank to help get rid of the gray water. Obviously this was not to code. I went several years to the sale of this house without problems.

Have you checked the archives? There are a few stories about the availability of dealer service and parts support at least for the newer models. You might try to cut a deal with the seller for purchase conditional on repair of the lift. Something along the lines of you pay or share for the repair but reserve the right to walk if repair isn't feasible. Something like that would share the risks among both of you. Unless the selling price is a real bargain I wouldn't jump unless I had an idea of the price and time required for repair. Might be good to get a sense of how much parts support in general is nearby.

ronbo14; Welcome to the world of tractors, you're going to like it. When you use the term "Grader Blade", I assume you mean a 3pt. mount rear blade compared to a box scraper. Unless you get into super heavy rear blades for 100+ HP tractors they are nearly useless for tearing up compacted soil, they just ride up over the hard surface. A box blade on the other hand if it has scarifier teeth will tear up undisturbed soil plus you can retract the teeth once you've loosened the soil then the box blade will pull the soil to where you want to leave it. My thoughts would be to get a box blade with scarifier teeth first then when the budget allows get a landscape rake to fine grade with. In loose soil or newly spread gravel a landscape rake has amazed me with what it will do, so I use it quite often. Ask your Kioti dealer to properly size a box blade and posssibly a landscape rake for your new tractor and I think you'll be happy. good luck. Frank.

The extended 3 year warranty covers only the tractor drive train.

I'll tell you what I know about the 4100-4110-4115: They may well be the most reliable, trouble free, small tractors made.

I feel that I can extend that statement to any Japanese designed/assembled John Deere tractor. So add to that list: the 2210, 4010, 790 and 990.

Get all the options you can afford, and want. I like my power windows and heated mirrors.
I do suggest you do like I did, and buy used. I got a great 99 SLT Laramie in 2001, and it is the best truck I ever owned, even being a former Ford fanatic, swearing I'd never own a Dodge. Never say never, huh? I boght it for the Cummins, and wouldn't have anything else.
It now has an extra turbo, a race tranny, and runs mid 14's in the 1/4, while still being able to tow a house. It will tow my flatbed and tractor to the track and run 12's before it's over (where's that big grin smiley?).
IF you want a stock truck, the older Ford's with the 7.3 Powerstroke engine are pretty good and have proven reliability. The new 6.0 PS is too new, and while some have had no problem, many have had lots of problems. I'd stay away from that engine for a couple of years.
