UPDATE, still need help.

I drained the fluid from the tranny case and refilled after replacing filter.

Still very weak loader. Goes up slow and has almost no lifting power. Can lift about 3 cubic feet of dirt thats it. What could be the problem.

The ad is for a Mahindra tractor. It's a 790 being lifted by the FEL. Obviously a bigger Mahindra than the two tractors being lifted, so not sure what the ad proves. Their "point" is the JD is "not the only game in town" now.

I have owned three ford trucks all of them 350 with the diesel and all manual transmissons My 92' has 450,000 miles. truck looks like hell but it still runs and has had 9000lbs. sitting on the rear axle befor.the other truck is tapping out at 200,000 miles its a 99 stroker, the latest is a 2004 with 80000 miles and is amazing i drove a new chevy and if they dont change motors they wont be able to compete

By the way, here's a link to a product called septic protector that I'm a believer in. This is a simple filter assembly that goes on the discharge hose of washing machines. It filters out a lot of lint that would otherwise get flushed out to the leach field and could eventually plug it up. In our case it filters out a few handfulls of lint each week. Over a period of time it can really add up. If nothing else this site has a lot of information on septic systems.

Locks are for honest people, they really don't slow down crooks much.

If you are tlaking about securing it in one place for a period of time, a shipping container is a really good weather-proof solution, pretty affordable too, you can even rent them in most places.

I think we've worked out a compromise.....

OK, I kept uping the bribe 'till she gave in.......

We took an extended July 1st/4th weekend and went down to our winter place, I had decided to list the big boat for sale, we haven't had the use of it because of my health so it's sat idle for too long. I got a good offer and went down there and closed the deal.

Now the problem, she knows I have the cash. They can smell it cant they?

So, here is the way it is looking now. She isn't getting a BX. She is probably getting an RTV, it is coming for an extended 'test drive'. The grass and heavy yard work will be done by a crew from the company, under her direction, poor guys, they don't know what their in for. The light stuff, gardening, etc., will be her thing, with the RTV it will be easier.

She also likes the fact she can tour around with it, and it will be handy for cruising around at the farm & cottage, I can get around pretty good now, but long walks are still a challenge, although not as painfull as they used to be.

Time will tell what she gets, I'll keep you folks up to speed as the story develops, now back to our regularly scheduled discussion.

The L2800 replaces the older 2650 series. The L3400 has a few more horsepower and the cost is about $1000.00 more. I just bought a package deal L3400DT with R4's, LA463 FEL, Modern 5' Cutter 5' box blade and 16' trailer for $17,000. I paid $10,000 10 years ago for my 2650 with no FEL and no 4x4. I feel like I did OK. I got more tractor and it was not that much more considering what I got and it being 10 years later.

I'm looking for a good way to edge a stone driveway where it meets a garden. I'm using a 3/4 stone and granite dust mix (about 2-3 inches for the base over old existing base) and 1/2" layer of 3/8 Pea gravel, in a 60ft diameter pattern. The back half of the cirle will abut to a mulched area that will contain some trees and other plantings. Should I use a metal edge between the two surfaces. Do they make a radiased metal edge?<br>

I was not trying to infer you were receiving any remuneration for your efforts, I apologize if you took it that way.

I honestly believe you are just happy with the product, you state as much, and are passing along the information you got from the COMPANY, who ARE trying to make a profit, a BIG profit.

As for the lift capacity of any machine, not just your ole' 790, it is and can be affected by MANY things. Some manufacturers spec. lift AT the lift point, some 24" behind, that alone is big difference. If an implement is 4' long, like a bush-hog, the practical lifted weight is affected by leverage.

There are many places on the web where you can look up the weight per foot of steel, you don't have to take my word for it. Science is one set of laws you can't break, no matter how hard you try.

A scanned copy will be fine, save the stamp.

NCrunch, I had meant to reply but had to go on vacation (too many data). Have always enjoyed the SUGI meetings, always learn something worthwile, last year a bit of SAS code I picked up saved me DAYS of work time, so the meeting more than paid for itself. I too am glad there are other statisticians who love tractors, although if you consider the total population of statisticians its possible that some of them own tractors and then etc etc.

Thanks fellas, I knew there was something I was missing. I went back and checked the manual and everything. I think the problem was I caught a case of CRS. I was moving the loader handle around before hooking it back up but forgot to do it before unhooking it.

I have a KK RFM that I have used for about two years. So far the only problem I have had is a blown belt. Other than that, it holds up fine behind my 30hp 7800. The gear box is rated to 45hp.
