I guess I don't exactly know the difference in loaders, say between a 16 and 17. Sounds like I need to do some more research.

The lifting tractor is perpendicular to the units being lifted. It appears that all four tires of each lifted unit are off the ground. Of course you have no idea if there have been any unseen modifications to the lifted units. I guess it is a neat marketing trick but that is about it. When I bought my Deere 4710, I bought a unit I knew I could get parts and service for nomatter where I was. Keep the marketing, I'll go with a proven manufacturer everytime.

A little prep. time will pay off big time when you are looking at splitting a tractor.

We use a 'splitting frame' to do it, it is basically a small short piece of railroad track made from 1.5" steel pipe. Block the rear half in place and support it with jack-stands, we have a tiedown of chain cemented in the shop floor we chain the drawbar to. Then there is a wheeled jack-stand that holds up the back of the engine and allows the engine to roll forward on the track and it's front wheels.

It makes splitting, and most importantly, re-assembly so simple, just put a come-along between the two pieces and crank.

OK, guys, pleeeease, this talk about the weight of a TR# rake is making me nuts (more nuts?).

I have asked the company directly, they will only tell me 'shipping weight' which is what goes on the bill of lading and what shipping is charged by, it is not necessarily accurate or even correct.

The picture on their website clearly shows the construction of this implement. On a 5-footer there would be (roughly); two 5' pieces of 3" angle, and three < 3' pieces of 3" angle, 10 scarifier teeth, a 5' scarifier bar across the rear, an axle, two tires and a 3pth tower.

DO THE MATH.

3" x 1/4 wall structural angle is about 6 pounds per foot, there is maybe 20' so there is 120 pounds of angle iron. Scarifier teeth are about 5 pounds each, and the scarifier bar (stock stuff for a motor grader BTW, readily available anywhere) is also about 5 pounds per foot, so all the scarifiers are another 75 pounds.

So far we're up to about 200 pounds, that leaves 700 to 900 pounds unaccounted for.

I doubt the tires, hitch and assorted bits and pieces are anything more than 200 pounds being VERY generous. Even at that it's still at LEAST half of what they claim.

At $3700 you could hire a first class engineering/fabricating company to make one and have enough left to take a REALLY nice vacation.

Enough ranting, my apologies to any that read this far, exagerated sales pitches and stupid claims make me crazier than normal.

My 60 inch KK cutter worked out fine on my 790, (pretty tuff)but I hope it works on my new machine. It has double PTO horse than the 790 and it's going to be a bit shy on covering the tracks.I already have it so I'm going to use it, hope it don't gernade the gear box.

Does anyone own a L2800? I looked at them on the Kubota website.Are these a replacement for the L2600 and L3000? It said they had a shuttle shift.Can you change direction without stopping?How does this one compare to the L3130? Are they less expensive? I have a L245DT now and am thinking abouot upgrading.

Beagle did a great job, I also recommend shutting the tractor off before reconnecting and moving the joystick into all four spots to relieve the pressure before trying to hook up.

Tom, maybe I'm missing something here, maybe I just haven't had enough coffee yet.

If it's only 200', and it's only going to be temporary anyway, why bury it at all?

It seems it would be a lot less work to put 2 poles & makeshift anchors in the ground than to trench 200' and I know the wire will cost a LOT less.

If there is an electrical contractor in the area go and talk to them. You will need some pro help once you start building anyway, most have poles, temporary service panels and rolls of used wire for putting up on job-sites like yours. For a few bucks they will often 'rent' them to you, especially if they get the work to do your new place.

I sometimes run into hard shifts with my TC 33 D , Woodie. There was a thread on this site about this same thing a few weeks ago, you might want to do a search or look on the New Holland board. You do not need to use the clutch to change hydro ranges, only to engage the PTO's and 4x4. Just tap lightly on the forward/reverse petal, then try the hydro lever again, it should slip right in. Seems like these tractors have to be almost perfectly dead center in nutral on the petal to shift ranges smoothly. Happy tractoring :).

Deere and Kubota both build top notch equipment, so I'll just jump back on my old soap box and preach the good dealer sermon again. Your most importand decision is the dealership you are working with. How long have they been in busines, their reputation in the community, etc? With proper maintenence either tractor will last you a long time. Just curious, when you said get another Woman, do you mean you'd have two Women? On second thought that might work out cause then you could get both a Deere and a kubota, one for each Woman. Have a great day. Frank.

I did'nt know these things were so complicated. Yes it does have a dipstick, and the dipstick goes halfway into the tranny. The oil was very milky, almost light butterscotchy. Would this cause weak power on the loader, even if the fluid level was where it should be?

Yes, no Tach on my BX2200 either which is odd. the other thing is the book says 2.7 qts of oil and to make the dip stick happy it take 3.5 qts? The only other down fall is don't go by the 70 or so inches of lift height, go by the dump height. With my truck on level ground (2002 1500 silverado 4x4) it's hard to "heap" a load because you run out of height. The only other thing is rear end weight. the bx23 comes with the backhoe but if you take it off plan on adding water in the tires or a weight box on the rear or it gets interesting. Before you pull the trigger on a new one post a bunch of flyers around looking for an almost new one. Alot of people buy these and do what they need to and then decide to sell them for a lot less. There are some deals out there. If you are close to CT. www.bargainnews.com is a great place to find them. Look in the yard tools section and the construction section. It is updated every thursday at 0700. I got my 3 year old bx2200 out of there for more than 60% off the original sales price.
