I may go back to Low VIS, however JD told me to put the HY Guard in a couple years ago to reduce leak down. The service rep thinks I have internal wear inside the transmission.

Stocking commonly used parts is good, but what about uncommon parts? You don't want to be in a situation where you have to wait for a shipping container to arrive on a slow boat from China. My Chinese chipper has been down for three weeks waiting for an uncommon part, and it will be a few more weeks still. Chipping can wait so I can live with it, but if it were my tractor I'd be mighty upset.

Is Deere pushing us to use low vis HyGard in our hydros? The guys at Fisher Implement told me they use regular HyGard in nearly all their HST machines. I haven't noticed any creeping or sluggishness in my eHydro, before or after the 50 hour service, and it uses regular HyGard. Maybe the sluggishness is there and I'm just used to it, but it certainly doesn't creep. I can see how maybe the low vis stuff might operate a little snappier, but I worry about the behavior when it gets really hot on a hot day.

We need some anecdotal evidence from guys who switch from regular to the low-vis stuff to see if it operates better under varying operating temperatures.

I have basically the same setup -- 4410 gear with 3pt mower.

I guess I'm not very sophisticated about mowing, but what exactly is the problem that stopping the mower creates? Maybe I'm not experiencing it yet because I've only mowed twice, but I'm not seeing any disadvantage to this.

If I could do it over, I'd buy a used tractor. My Farmpro 2425 is 6 months old and only 59 hours of operation. It's been a nightmare since the first hour I had it. Hydraulic fitting leaks, clutches have been replaced, two pumps replaced and I still have diesel getting in my oil. When it runs, it is great! Problem is keeping it running!!!!!

I'm not familiar with Long tractors, but I have an opportunity to purchase one and was wondering if it is a fair deal. I don't know the model number, but I have the specs.<br>

The tractor is a 1983 Long tractor with 49hp and it includes a loader. The engine is a 3 cylinder diesel and the tractor has 4wd. Outside of this, I can't tell you much. <br>

They are asking $8500.00 for it. Is that a good price? Can anyone give me an info about Long tractors? Who makes their motors? Do they hold up? Are parts available for them? Any info you can give me will be helpful!<br>

I have had my 2210 with 62� MMM for about a year now (106 hours). I mow about 1.25 acres of tall fescue and 1.25 acres of alfalfa each week, and have no complaints with the quality of cut. The deck stays level side-to-side, and has a nice even cut. When finished, the lawn looks great to me. Although, to be honest I really have nothing to compare it with, other than an old 21� push mower.

The one thing that I have found, is that with the taller, thicker areas, I must travel in a near �straight� path. If I travel in an arc, even a fairly large arc, it seems to miss cutting a narrow ridge between the middle and outer blades (I think). It also does this on the turn-arounds. However, one last finish cut, transverse to the turn-arounds, corrects this, and all is well.

The dealer picked up my tractor today and brought it back 2 hours later. It was the battery making the fuse blow. They said they didn't know how it started the battery was so bad. Now I learned that a low battery can blow fuses. Luckily, everything is still under warranty.

Start with the basics. The electric shut off is not the only one, there is usually a mechanical one as well, a knob you pull out on the dashboard.

Toby, you need two things to run a trencher, a PTO output strong enough to drive the size trencher you are looking at, and a hydro-static drive transmission. Even units with a creeper gear will not go slow enough with the engine at PTO speed, only a HST will go that slowly.

Past that just pick your favourite flavour of tractor.

Very nice analogy, and I sure didn't mean to put carpenters in the same work environment as law enforcement/firemen, only that statistics show the injury/death rate to be higher for carpenters. That being said, it is usually the carpenters fault for not paying proper attention, etc....
My intent was to convey that here in SO.CAL.the competition is intense, nobody gets a free ride, the non-union carpenters here are also good craftsmen, so the union guys need to be better to keep their market share.

The point I was trying to make earlier is that Kubota engineers the hoe to the machine it is listed for. Kubota backhoes replace the top link with a huge slab of steel.

If you are not using a swiveling top link you do not have a true three point backhoe, and that is a good thing.
